My family and I stayed here from Wed 11/11 through Sunday 11/15. Overall I was very pleased with the resort. The room was nice (refurbished) and the beds were wonderful. The room, however, felt small after staying at the Contemporary last time. Good storage space, loved having all the counter in the bathroom and didn't mind the single sink. It was also wonderful to have a queen bed instead of the double you usually get at a moderate. The grounds were the typical Disney gorgeous. We were in Cabana 8A and it was very convenient to the bus stop (no complaints about bus service either) and the Dig Site. My kids LOVED the pool area even though it was cool and they only got to go swimming once. The hot tub is also nice and large.
I did NOT particularly like how the Pepper Market was set up. We have always before stayed either POR or POFQ and I like the simplicity of their food courts much better. No complaints about the actual food at the Pepper Market, just how confusing the whole set up is. Also - since we were on the dining plan I couldn't figure out if we were supposed to be tipping our servers or not. (I'm still not clear on that!)
Otherwise the only complaint I might have is that my daughter spilled some tea on one of the bedspreads on our third morning and it was never changed, despite the fact that I practically pulled it off the bed and put a washcloth between the duvet cover and the comforter inside. When we got back that night the bed was made up with the washcloth still inside the duvet cover and nothing washed. I did not, however, specifically call Mousekeeping and ask them to change it and decided to just live with it for the rest of the trip (since it was then dry.)
I really wish I had an 8.5 option on the rating as 8 is too low and 9 is too high.

My girlfriend is down in WDW for the college program from August to jan. We booked Coronado as neither of us have stayed there before. We have always stayed at value resorts, or in my case, Fort Wilderness Campground, so this was a new experience for us both. We took advantage of her generous cast member room rate, and booked a king bed room from Nov8th through the 13th. We requested a water vies room ahead of time. We were not dissapointed. I arrived in Orlando at 830am. Checkin isnt until 3pm, so around 9 we arrived, did an early check in, and we were told we would recieve a text message when our room was ready. We went to the Pepper Market for breakfast, and before we were finished, much to our suprise, we got the text sayin our room was ready! We finished up, grabbed our luggage and headed over to Cabanas 9B. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS BUILDING. Its a three minute walk to the main buildings and bus stop, and has a parking lt behind it. Its quite and all of the rooms here are renovated. We had a gorgeous view of the lake, a COMFY king size bed, flat screen LCD TV and DVD player, along with the usual coffee maker, iron and board, and hair dryer, all of which were new. The Mousekeeping was top notch and the staff were always friendly. We were more then happy with the resort and will absolutely be staying there again in the future. Well Done Disney...

Pepper Market Terrible

Redone rooms are great - beds are excellent. Stayed at Boardwalk Club Level last time and Coronado Springs was better by far ( and not because it was much less expensive). Grounds beautiful, main and quiet pools super. Only complaint , Pepper Market - food so so and poor staff at times. Glad we were on DDP and only ate there once. Bus service excellent! Very quiet at night. Cabana 8A close to Bus Stop #4 was perfect for us. Mousekeeping just OK nothing good nothing bad.

My family and I just returned today from a wonderful stay at Coronado Springs. This was the happiest we have been with the hotels. This is the nicest moderate resort we have stayed in. The queen sized beds are a major plus!!! They did a great job renovating the rooms, they are gorgeous and very clean. The only downside is that everything is very spread out and we did not get to go to the main pool due to that. The gelato at Cafe Rix is amazing but do NOT go to Pepper Market late, the selection is very slim. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

We booked a last-minute trip to CSR - our fourth trip there. We had a refurbished room - they weren't all done when we went in February but are now. We had a few Maya Grill breakfasts which are still amazing. Love the pools, the grounds, the dig site. Thought the front desk staff had really improved from our last trips but the Pepper Market doesn't get any better. We thought we might enjoy it more on the dining plan as perhaps cost inhibits our enjoyment but I probably ate the worst breakfast ever there and the evening food was just ok.

Pepper Market, Helpful Staff

Cons:

Mousekeeping, Maintenance, & Walk
|
|
The grounds are nice and well-kept, the staff is very helpful. BUT that's just about all the good I can say about this resort. I expected so much more for all the money we spent (and we spent a lot). After check-in we got to our room to find that it was 80-degrees (it was 92 and sweltering outside). We lugged our luggage up to floor 3 (after I requested a floor 1 room for my son in a wheelchair) and turned down the air. We then left for 6 hours to Downtown Disney.
We returned and found the room still at 78 degrees. We called maintenance and was told that it would take a "full 48 hours to sufficiently cool the room"! FORTY-EIGHT HOURS???!!! This is Florida! So, my husband went to grab a soda from the fridge and found it hot, too. Yes, the fridge wasn't working. So, we had to get a new one sent up -- which was half the size of the one that wasn't working. The ice machine on our floor was out of order for the entire stay, as was the soda machine.
After walking around the parks for 14 hours a day, the last thing I felt like doing was walking 5 miles to my room, but that's what we signed up for. I knew the resort was big. "Big" is an understatement! My kids were disappointed that there were no cute towel-characters (when I asked the front desk about that I was told that they had no one who knew how to do them).
Mousekeeping left something to be desired, too. We asked for clean towels (by leaving them on the floor per their request) and found our old ones re-hung in the bathroom. When we went to use our laptop both ends of the ethernet cable were broken and we couldn't get one until the next day (but we were still charged the $9.95 for the use internet usage that we couldn't use. They wouldn't waive that). The desk lamp was broken and we couldn't get another one of those either until the following day!
The highlights were Pepper Market -- GREAT FOOD. Go there. Kinda difficult to understand at first, but you'll get the hang of it. They gave us a complimentary wheelchair for my son so we didn't have to worry about renting one. And their business office associates are very helpful (I had a FED EX package on it's way and they went out of their way to let me know it arrived).
Yep, that's about it. Please, please don't waste your money or time staying here, trust me.

None that would not make me stay here again

My husband and I stayed here from 9/29 - 10/5. This was my first time here and his second. We were not disappointed.
We stayed in building 9, which is close to the main building and a short walk to the pool. Overall, we were very happy with our location, our room, and the grounds in general.
I was a little disappointed in the Pepper Market, but it wasn't enough to turn me off to Coronado. As a previous poster mentioned, Cafe Rix is a nice addition. We went there instead of Pepper Market, as I thought Pepper Market food was 'ok' and the prices were more expensive than necessary.
The main pool is very nice and never felt crowded.
Overall, I look forward to staying here again.

two big conventions at once, lots of cells and laptops
|
|
This was our first stay at CSR, 10-3 to 10-10. Casita 5-king bed-decor of the room was much more subdued than other Disney resorts, much more buisness hotel-like. Clean room, well maintained facilities, loved the gym and spa. Lots of people attending two conventions that were going on, lots of people scurrying about with phones and laptops, business suits and breifcases, not really Disney-ish to me. The hotel sort of loses it's Disney feel here for me. I liked this resort, but I want to feel like I'm on vacation, not in the middle of a business transaction. Very nice to have a fridge, coffeemaker, etc. all in the room-that's the difference in a moderate resort. Buses were plentiful, food selections are good if you are not looking for gourmet food, hotel staff was always friendly. Overall, a nice stay, just a little strange to see all of the hustle and bustle of worker bees making their 8 to 5, that's what I was trying to leave behind!

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT. We booked 4 rooms for our family and we were not disapointed with anything. The rooms were awesome, the grounds were keep perfect, all of the employees were friendly and helpful. Yes its a big resort but who cares, thats what makes it great. It never felt crowded not even at the main pool. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Just returned, 10/3-10/11. 1st time at a moderate and 1st time @ CSR. Rooms: Nice decor and very comfortable queen size beds - room was VERY CLEAN - while we didn't get any towel animals, they did pose our children's stuff animals each day - which gave them a laugh each time we returned to our room in the afternoon. Although the resort is large the walk around the resort wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. Stayed in Casitas 3 - although not the location we requested, wasn't too far of a walk to both main bldg and main pool. Main pool was beautiful and about a 7 min. walk from our room. Found the staff here to be very friendly and the Pepper Mkt. had a good variety of food for a QS meal. Cafe Rix was excellent for "grab n' go" snacks and meals. Was able to visit other moderates and by far the CSR, in our opinion, was the best of the bunch - a true deluxe feel for a moderate price. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we will definitely return.

Resort too big.

This is our 3rd time staying on Disney and the first time with a little one. For October, I expected it to be a little less crowded, but it was no where near July or September, the two other times we've been. The resort is clean. Everyone is friendly. The pool areas, main and "quiet" pool, were nice. We only ate breakfast there three times, and every time was outstanding. From what I understand, all the rooms have been renovated. We stayed in the Rancheros buildings. The only thing we did not like is the proximity of everything. The resort is so big, therefore, spread out. There are atleast 4 bus stops, and depending on which time of year you go, and what bus stop you go to, the bus might be packed by the time it gets to your stop. By no means did it dampen our visit, as we got a seat on the bus everytime. Just from what I've seen on our trip, I can imagine it might be crazy during the busiest times of the year.

not the best restaurants; must like walking

This was our 3rd Disney trip & 3rd time staying here. We stayed here 9/24 - 9/30 in Ranchos 7B.
Rooms: The rooms are soooo nice now with the queen beds and the lighter decor. The doors that separate the bathroom area are a nice touch but they are heavy for kids.
Pool: Our quiet pool was closed at 9pm every nite (unlike our prior visits) but the main pool was open til 11 so that was okay. The slide at the main pool was a hit with adults & kids like. If you don't mind a leisurely stroll to get to the main building, it's a very nice resort and the walk is so pretty you almost don't realize that you've walked a ways. My only suggestion on that would be to stay in the Casitas if you don't like to talk far.
Buses: As for park transportation, the buses pick up & drop off first at Bus Stop #2 so by the time the buses got to Stop #1 at the main building, the buses were very full first thing in the morning.
Restaurants: We used to love the Pepper Market but I was not as happy with it this time around. The new addition of Cafe Rix is the best thing about the restaurants. Did not try Maya Grill this time, but ate there before and thought it was a waste of a sit-down meal on the DDP.
Bottom line, we love CS and can't imagine staying anywhere else. I read someone else on here say that it's as close to staying at a Deluxe Resort without paying the price and we wholeheartedly agree!

We stayed at the Coronado during 9/22 - 9/29. I was a little concerned due to the reviews that I have read. But, I am so glad that we tried it anyway. The resort is beautiful and Mousekeeping was super (thanks Maryann). Even though we did not have towel animals they still made the room feel Disney special.
We stayed in 9A Cabanas and it was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone. The quiet pool was just outside of our door and it was very quiet. The ac was also quiet (and central) and the updated rooms made our stay very comfortable. We really felt like we were staying at a Deluxe Resort again.
Other than the walking, which is good for us, the shuttle service inside the resort was our only complaint. The drivers would drive really fast on the narrow walkways and would pick up other guests but never asked us if we needed a ride. We actually heard them ask a person walking behind us if they wanted a ride, but then passed us up. RUDE!!!
The buses were rarely packed and we didn't wait too long for them. We will definitely stay here again, that is if I can convince my husband to do Disney again.

The Coronado has been our 1st Disney hotel we've stayed in. Needless to say, we enjoyed ourselves! We did the buy 4 get 3 free deal this year.
Off the bat, I did a lot of resort research! I knew where I wanted to stay (building wise) and that I wanted a newly renovated room. I talked to the room assignments 10 days before our trip and made my requests. They were both honored (1st plus)!
I did request Cabanas 9A OR 9B, as they were closest to pyramid pool, yet not a long walk to the main house. I did not want to be so close to the main building for fear it would be too loud around that area. We ended up with CABANAS 9B, as 9A is usually reserved for business travelers. We loved 9B and I thoroughly enjoyed walking to and from 9b to main building. I got to pass the lake, the white sands, the hammocks. I sometimes would stop mid walk to main house to take a little hammock break:O) This resort also has boats, bikes, etc, to rent.
ROOM: Our renovated room had beautiful bedding! It also had a flat screen TV and lovely furniture. It smelled VERY clean in there and the AC was a dream! There are also sliding doors to separate between the bathroom sink area and bedroom area for a little privacy. The carpet was new, as was the paint. Could've used a bit more storage, though. We had enough hanging space, but could have used more drawer space and just like, a general cabinet would have been great. A week's worth of 5 people's clothes and lots of snack foods and breakfast foods made this a cramped space at best. We also put a pack n play in between the beds. This room did also have a nice desk.
BUS: We would get picked up 3rd. We were always dead last getting off the bus! That was my main complaint..The bus in the mornings to MAGIC KINGDOM would be EXTREMELY full, and we would always have 3 kids and the two of us & a stroller (take a combi, they fold up well). The bus issue was our only complaint, but for the overall affordability of this resort, it was manageable (at times). Sometimes, it would take 30 mins or more for a Magic Kingdom bus to show up, and then occasionally, it would go whizzing past you b/c it was filled up! We are actually, with our small kids, considering A monorail hotel for our next trip, b/c all the buses in the 'world' are like this, we noticed while resort hopping one day.
POOL: The pool and dig site (playground) are amazing, Of course my kids loves the dig site and played in the sand for an hour. They were awe-struck by the pyramid pool! Its a very large pool, so no fear of over crowding, and the "juice bar" that's beside it was a lifesaver!
The cleanliness is a big plus! The maids are amazing and always cleaned and had our beds made. Nice to come back to after a long day! Overall, I know a lot of people say the walking around the resort is a pain, but we enjoyed the scenery, and so did our kids! The ambiance of this hotel is amazing, and I always found I had a smile on my face whenever I was there! We never got any towel animals, but my kids enjoyed looking at the stuffed animals and princess dresses hung in other peoples windows (we don't do stuffed animals, LOL). The lobby is breathtaking, and the people at guest services were always helpful to modify any changes i needed to make at our ADR'S. The gift shop is HUGE! Has lots of great finds in there! Lastly, I want to mention the food court. We ate there the first night. It had a wonderful variety of different things to eat: Mexican, Chinese, American, etc. and tons of pastries. My kids loved it! We ate there twice on our dining plan.
GREAT resort, give it a try!

"not a Disney feeling"

We stayed here for the first time 9/4 through 9/6/09. The resort is very nice and the new rooms are well appointed. It is a large, but navigable resort that has many amenities. Love the fitness center, food options and feature pool. This resort is a Disney property, but lacks much of the "feel" that we have come to love about Disney resorts. The cast was professional but did not have that Disney polish. We are staying here again in December 2009 to give it another try.
