Having the Landry's card allowed us almost immediate seating both times we ate here. Very good service and our servers always accommodated changes to the menu. The awesome appetizer is not only good, but literally it becomes an entree instead of an appetizer for up to two people. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very fun and vibrant in color. Its become a tradition to eat here every time we are @ Disney.

My family dined here on 4/1 for dinner. It was a special request as a birthday dinner by one member of our party. We were about 15 minutes late for our 6PM reservation but that quickly turned into 30 minutes as we got in the wrong line for check in. There needs to be overhead signs for standby and reservations. We were seated an hour after our reservation time. Strike one! We were in the gorilla room in a back corner but really there are very few bad tables. Our waitress Valerie was awesome. She tried very hard to fulfill every request. She was attentive and offered to bring the kids meals ASAP which was much appreciated. Our meals however were severly delayed and we didn't eat for at least 45 minutes after we ordered. Strike two. We had a minor roach issue - on the floor, NOT the food - strike three. A manager was sent over. She appologized profusely and offered to comp our appetizers and give us a free Volcano dessert. By this time we just wanted to leave. It was our first night and thankfully we were too happy to be "in the world" to let it dampen our spirits. It is the LAST time we will visit this restaurant.

It is great to go once to experience the atmosphere. Beautiful! The food was OK. Nothing special. If it wasn't for the dining plan, we probably would have been upset over the prices. The menu has a lot of choices. Server was horrible. He kept trying to talk to us over the animals instead of waiting a few minutes for them to be quiet. It was very hard to hear him.

I am never eating here again! The "natural" (aka vegetarian) burger smelled like feet and tasted worse. And it was served with what I'm pretty sure were potato chips from a bag.
The service was friendly and attentive, but it did nothing to make up for the terrible and OVER PRICED food! I paid $20 w/ tip for a sandwich and a drink. That night, I paid $26 w/ tip for a MEAL and drink at a sit-down restaurant.

It was a good meal we ate here on Jan 30 2013. I would not come back though. They had a special shrimp trio that me and my DH both got which was really good. But our dinner started out waiting 10 minutes for our waitress to even come to our table and another 15 minutes before our drinks arrived, and they arrived by another waitress. Then the meal was good. We were on the dining plan and shared the chocolate volcano dessert which was amazing! And I am not a big cake person! Then again, we asked for the check which took 10 minutes for her to bring. My parents were done and paid but we were waiting on my check which took the waitress 25 minutes to finally bring to the table. We had to get the manager involved which all he did was say I'm sorry. The worst part about the service was that they were completely dead!

This was our lunch on our go home day. Got there early and right as they were opening. We were seated and served as soon as we walked in. A little over-price for my taste but it is what to be expected at a novelty restaurant. Got a little loud at times when the animals were active.
The food was great. The Volcano dessert was incredible.

This is becoming a tradition for me and my wife. We go eat lunch there the moment we arrive at Disney. We made a reservation this time and it makes it so much easier. We learned our lesson last time. We didn't have to wait long but we saw how busy it could be. Do yourself a favor, make reservations to avoid the wait it's easy you can make it online.

The food was good enough, with plenty of choices. Everything was just normal in flavor, not bad or anything, but no wow factor. I would eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it.

Pros:

Theming, Landry's Club
|
|
Cons:
|
Entrance Layout, Food Quality, Noise Level
|
|
I am normally a huge fan of the Rainforest Café, but this last visit was a complete bust. This is one of the busiest restaurants on property and the location combined with current construction makes for a confusing entrance and approach. The hostess stand is located at the entrance to the restaurant and had a line just to talk to the hostess. People in line were both those who wanted to ask for a table and those who had been called because their table was ready. This causes some confusion and added wait that would be unnecessary if the lines were separated.
Once we were seated we noted that the restaurant was SWELTERINGLY HOT. I am normally cold everywhere we go, and I was fanning myself with a menu. We were in a bit of a hurry as we wanted to make it to the evening fireworks and EMH at MK that night, so we ordered immediately and wolfed down the mediocre fish dish as soon as it arrived. We split (dishes here are HUGE and easily split between two adults) the macadamia crusted mahi mahi that came with grilled shrimp. It was ok, but nothing super stellar.
The biggest issue we had was with the Landry’s Club rewards program. Upon visiting Bubba Gump earlier in the week we had become members of the Landry’s Club so we could have the rewards and priority seating for our reservation with the rainforest café. We made the mistake of having our Birthday rewards ($25) overlap with our welcome rewards ($25). Our bill was a grand total of $27.00 so we figured we would use $25 of the rewards and save the other $25, only this was not possible. We were forced to lose $23 worth of rewards because the charge of $2 to the second reward allotment could not be overridden. We called over the manager and tried to work on it on our smart phones, but all of that worked to no avail. Ordinarily this would not be an issue for a large family with a pricier tab, but for our party of 2, we did not fully benefit from the program. We are happy to be members of the Landry’s group, but I have learned my lesson about their rules and regulations.
I would say if you are planning to eat at Rainforest Café more than once or if you are also planning to dine at Bubba Gump Shrimp (which was FANTASTIC) then I would advise you go ahead and become a part of the Landry’s Club. Also, the “birthday month” in which you receive your $25 can be ANY month of your choosing. So if you travel to Disney or cities with Landries locations most in July yet your Birthday is in January, you can choose July as your Birthday month to fully benefit from the membership. Note: the birthday rewards last for 30 days from the date of your “birthday”.
As a not on the rainforest cafes in general, I have found the AK Rainforest Café to have cleaner facilities and better service than the one in Downtown Disney. A drawback of that location though is their last seatings are aligned with the closing time of AK. So most nights the last seatings are at 5, 6 or 7 o’clock.

My daughter and I dined at Rainforest Cafe during our getaway in September. We had reservations for 8 pm but was not seated until 8:30. We were seated at a table next to the fish tank which was nice, but we were right in a thoroughfare and all night long our table was bumped and hit by passing waiters and waitresses. I personally was run into twice. It was difficult to enjoy the meal d/t the constant barrage. I talked to a "manager" but he didn't seem interested. I would not dine here again.

Wait time, Very loud, slow service
|
|
Despite having a dining reservation, we still had to wait an extra 15 minutes for our table - which isn't cool when you are on a schedule.
First of all - the interior is cool. The thunderstorm inside was cool the first and second time but got annoying thereafter. The restaurant is loud - but that is to be expected. The most annoying part is the mandatory "VOLLLLCANOOO" yelling by employees whenever a guest orders the dessert volcano. Sure it looks tasty and cool, but the yelling is so not necessary.
It was nice that the DDP had a "one fill" option if my girlfriend wanted a smoothie as her drink, which she got. She said it was very good and got a second one using my drink credit (I felt like a beer that night).
Our server recommended the "Pastalaya" - basically jambalaya but with linguini noodles. It was very spicy (which I love) and absolutely fantastic. I will definitely order this dish again and highly recommend it if you like hot food.
My girlfriend got the whole rack of ribs (as a small eater, she could have easily got half, but the DDP allowed us to get the whole rack - so I sampled some too). The ribs were moist and tender - maybe a little skimpy on the sauce. For those die-hard rib types I'd say don't expect the best ribs you've ever had. The fries were a bit cold and I didn't like how the ribs came on top of the fries. It makes them soggy!
Again - allergy dessert choices were fairly uninspiring. We both went with the mango sorbet (not a mango fan to begin with). The dessert took forever to get to us (and we ended up missing the magic kingdom fireworks). It was so-so. I'm sure people with no food allergies could easily find a dessert they like.
Last - our service was pretty UN-magical. Our server was very slow and at the end of the night ended up giving us a sap story about being on thin ice due to previous mistaken orders. It felt like a "please dont get me in trouble" plea, which..yeah I felt bad for the guy and I wasn't going to complain - but come on.
We will return, as the good food outweighed the restaurant volume and slow service (one server out of hundreds is hard to judge).

Loved the Rainforest when it first opened. Has a chain feel to it now. Very run-of-mill food with extremely high prices. Tables have been crammed in to accommodate as many quest as possible. You better like the people sitting close to you! The waits can be extremely long (hour of longer) if you don't have a reservation.
It still has a certain charm if you have never been here before. Kiddos LOVE it!

I would have given this a 10 but our server made us feel rushed. We were on the dining plan and of all the restaurants we went to all week we had to wait the longest at this one (20 minutes). When our waiter finally arrived, he asked for our order before asking us what we wanted to drink. We waited a while for our meal. The meal was delicious! But after a few minutes our waiter came out and asked us what we wanted for dessert and we weren't finished eating our meal. We all loved the food and the dessert. The cheesecake was wonderful and my son (8) got lava mud & he loved it! Loved seeing and hearing the animals come to life!Would do this again just with another waiter!!
