We dined here for dinner in January. We were seated just a few minutes after our ADR and service was good throughout the meal.
The theming was so fun! My sister and I sat at the back of a car behind another group, which was not as odd or awkward as I thought it might be based on previous reviews. Watching the movie clips was fun! During dinner we saw one whole loop and a few repeats, but that was nice because we missed a few during ordering, settling in, ect.
We were told that we could get milkshakes for our drinks on the dining plan. I had oreo and my sister had the orange creamsicle, they were easily the highlight of the meal-so good!!
For dinner, my sister had the veggie burger and I had the turkey sandwich...both of us thought our meals were only so-so. Not bad, but certainly nothing worth returning for. We enjoyed being able to order fruit salad for dessert since we had the milkshake with dinner-another sweet dessert would have been too much! The fruit was fresh and very good.
I would return here, but would not use the dining plan for dinner. I think it would be worth coming in just for a milkshake and to share an appetizer-we did not order any but they all looked good!

Hadn't eaten here in several years. Previous visits had left me disappointed with food. Since the menu had changed over the years I thought I'd give it another try. The theming is still the best part. I recommend people walk in to check out decor, but eat elsewhere. The burger and reuben were just okay, as was milkshake. The chicken wing app is outrageously priced even by Disney standards...$11.49 for 6 wings. (Kona Cafe wings are much better and cheaper.) This restaurant is so dark you honestly can't even see your food, which is a bit disconcerting. Waitress did her job (a tad slowly), but couldn't be described as friendly. The video loop should be longer because we were well into repeats by the time we were done.

we arrived a bit early for our ADR and were told rather rudely by the podium staff to "Come back later to check in". Once we were finally seated, and looked at the menu, we realized that they place is LONG overdue for an update. In the 20 years we've been coming to WDW, I don't think they have changed a thing here.
The food was mediocre, the waiter slow and just seemed to be going through the motions. There are so many old 50's B-movies, that you would think they could change them out occasionally....while we were there, they went through the loop at least 2-1/2 times....ugh.
We won't bother with this place again.

My wife and I ate here on our vacation on January 2nd, 2013. We did not have any reservations but, the hostess told us we could be seated in about 20 minutes. We were seated in about 15 minutes, this was a very pleasant surprise. We sat in the back seat of one of the drive-in cars. We had nice seats and could see the screen. We loved the movie and commercials they were a hoot. Our waitress was very attentive and quick to take our order. I ordered the PICNIC BURGER, it was terrible, by far the worst meal I have ever had at Disney. My burger portion of the sandwich was greasy and tasted like lighter fluid. Maybe it was just my sandwich. My wife had a burger that was just O.K., I was very disappointed and will never return to this restaurant again. I just hope this was a one time thing and there are items on the menu that are worth the cost. I gave this a four because I really liked the movie.

We love the Sci Fi and eat lunch there every time we hit Disney. We all had cheeseburgers and fries, which were excellent. The movies they are showing are getting very old...since we eat there several times a year we would like to see some more funny clips and visit the refreshment stand bits.

My DH and I ate here for lunch in November. We were able to walk in and put our name down to get a table, but other walk-ins were turned away. This was the quietest restaurant that I have ever eaten at while at Disney World! It was refreshing!
We had boneless buffalo chicken poppers for an appetizer; they were very good! I had the Reuben sandwich. It was yummy and too much for me to eat. My DH had the picnic burger, and he loved it.
The only negative thing about this restaurant is that it shares a restroom with ABC Commissary.
We definitely recommend eating here, especially for a little peace and quiet.

When planning our trip to WDW this was a "must do" for HS.
I loved the atmosphere of the place! So much fun. However, with our ADR being for only 2 (DH and me) we were sat in backseat of a car behind another couple...who of course, we didn't know! So it was an awkward sitation to be crammed into this car to eat with a couple that you don't know and they are sitting a foot away from you. My Husband and I found it impossible to have a private conversation so it was a pretty quiet lunch.
Our server was decent, not fast or slow. The food was fantastic and the drinks were even better! I'd love to go back, but only if we bring our kids to make it an even party of 4.

Ate here on Dec 6th for lunch with my two kids. We were seated in a car, but only had one row. They sat another party of two behind us as "hitchhikers". They didn't bother us but were so close that we could hear their conversation and they could hear us so it was a bit uncomfortable and with the three of us in one row, we didn't have much room. We were on the deluxe dining plan. For my appetizer, I ordered the onion rings. Had onion rings earlier at the prime time cafe for lunch and thought those were just a bit better, but these weren't bad by no means. For my main course, I had the bacon cheeseburger. It was very good and came with fries. Had a milkshake here, and it was not as good as the one I had at the prime time cafe. For dessert, I had the peanut butter chocolate cake and thought it was just ok.
One of the reasons I've returned this restaurant is the themeing. The kids love sitting in a drive in theater in a car for their meal and the twinkling stars in the night sky make it magical.

While the atmosphere is a lot of fun, the food is only so-so. I'd recommend it just for the fun of it; not for a food experience. Although the fried pickles were pretty good.
Also, while our cast member was very nice and accurate, service took forever! The car next to us was seated after us, but they left before we even got our desserts. They were on the DDP just like us.

I struggled with how to rate Sci Fi Dine In. In the past, is has always been my favorite Disney restaurant. The theme here cannot be beat. I love sitting in the cars and watching the cheese trailers on the big screen. I love that it feels like night time even when it is noon. I enjoy the food, as well.
This trip, though, the service was really lacking and it seemed a bit darker. It was very hard to see our food. I had the vegetable burger and some of my vegetables were falling out and landing on my plate. I honestly could not tell what kind of vegetable had fallen out until I ate it, though, because of how dark it was. The service was also quite slow. When we would look to the back to the restaurant, we would see 3-4 waiters and waitresses standing around talking. Our waiter was working very hard and running all over the place and we can only assume he was picking up the slack for the others.
The desserts were very filling and absolutely wonderful. I would come back for the apple crumble alone. I would still recommend this place to others, but I'm worried that it is starting to lack in service and that they aren't lighting the dashboards as much as they used to.

We had visited the Sci-Fi Dine in once before, for lunch, just myself and my sisters, in August. While we loved the atmosphere, we agreed the food was subpar. However, my youngest sister loved the atmosphere so much that this and 50's Prime Time were the only restaurants she asked me to try to make reservations for.
My opinion of this restaurant has changed vastly, as I know thoroughly enjoy it.
We had 5:20 reservations, we arrived at 5, and were seated by 5:10.
Our waiter was absolutely wonderful, very attentive, cracked quite a few jokes, and even sent my sisters and I home with souvenir cups filled with caramel corn.
While the food last time was lackluster, it has changed severely. I'm not sure if it's because last time we went to lunch and this time we went to dinner, or what, but everyone really seemed to enjoy their meal. I went with the chicken pasta, which I had thought was the same as the bowtie pasta I had ordered on the previous trip (which I had found to be quite bland) but I was wrong. The pasta and a really nice, flavorful broth on the bottom, the chicken was cooked to be very soft, tasty, and tender.
My 12-year-old sister got the steak, and she was surprised as to how much she loved the vegetables that came with it!
My 16-year-old sister ordered the build your own Angus Chuck burger, she said it was cooked to the proper temperature and she seemed to enjoy it, but she was more excited about her 3 glasses of vanilla coke (we don't have it in Canada anymore.
Dad ordered chicken wings, and he quite enjoyed them.
Overall, this was a great experience. The only real downside is that your party is sitting in rows of two, which can make pre-dinner conversations quite awkward. This experience goes to show that you should never be afraid to rebook a Disney restaurant that you had a bad experience with. A second trip may pleasantly surprise you!

We ate lunch hear on 12/6. First time. Husband and son loved the movie clips. We were seated and served timely. Saw whole clip reel plus about an extra 5-10 min. Had the Fried Pickles as an appetizer. They were awesome. The only problem was sharing them with my husband who was sitting behind us. Son and I split the Reuben; husband had a burger. All were good. We would go back there again.

We have eaten here many times but feel the quality of the food has actually improved in recent years. This is one of our "must visit" locations when we travel with WDW newbies because it is so unique. DH had a chocolate shake, steak, fries, and some sort of apple dessert. He enjoyed all of it. I had an oreo shake, salmon BLT, fries, and the chocolate PB cake. The shake and sandwich were both quite good. The fries were the best I ate in a 8 night stay at WDW. The cake unfortunately was a disappointment. It tasted dry and the chocolate part was flavorless. I was so full by the time dessert arrived though that I did not particularly care!
Our waitress was great. We watched the entire sequence of movies and maybe repeated about 10 additional minutes. We originally had reservations at 1:30 but asked at noon to be moved up if possible. We were seated in 15 minutes or so which we appreciated. Had we not been utilizing the free dining plan, lunch for the two of us would've been about$75 without any alcohol. That does seem high to me.

Food was good, didn't have wait very long. However we did have reservations. The car we sat in stunk really bad. Just smelled dirty. I know it's the Sci-Fi Dine-In, meaning Science Fiction was going to be shown on the movie screen. But a lot of the things being shown was very scary to my small children. I think it should be redone and show original classic Mickey from the 50's to keep the old drive in feel.

The Sci-Fi is the DH’s favorite restaurant in all of Disney. Not for the food mind you, but for the experience. This is one of the coolest restaurants I have ever eaten in and I will always go back. We typically go for ice cream, shakes, fries and sundaes. They have decent burgers which are worth it to, but the rest of their food is pretty much a miss. The movie reel they play is awesome and we always get a picture in our “car.” Also this last time I asked for lactose and gluten free options and was pleasantly surprised. They have both toffuti and rice ice creams and gluten/dairy free brownies which are delicious! The replacement for a burger bun here was flat bread though and that was dry and pretty much awful. I used the flat bread as a wrap of sorts and ate the burger from in the middle. They also have sweet potato fried in place of regular fries, but they dusted mine with cinnamon sugar which I was not a fan of, I think you could ask for that to be left off though with no problem. Overall I would say a fun restaurant to experience and have dessert and maybe a burger. Not very stellar food outside of that realm though. I would DEFINITELY go at least once if only for a cherry coke and fries!
