Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great service and good food
      Cons: none

Split the appetizer portion of their Cobb salad, was just the right size for 2. Had the Pan-seared Porcini Powder-dusted Pork Tenderloin, the Charred-glazed Filet of Beef and the children's Grilled Breast of Chicken. All was very good and for dessert we did the trio picking the Grapefruit Cake, Banana Toffee cake and Warm Blueberry cobbler...yum!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food, good service, fastpass for Fantasmic, grapefruit cake

I dined here Nov. 2014 as part of a dinner/Fantasmic dining package. I expected this to be a bit ritzier than it was but then again, it's in the middle of a theme park. So it's a bit disappointing to look around and guests aren't dressed up and there is a mismatch as the setting is elegant and so old California feeling with the white and dark woods and the mission style. It was a bit loud inside with all the diners so it isn't a quiet refined meal either, but it was delicious and offered dining options not available anywhere else with good service and a great escape from the parks for a while. This is the only The Hollywood Brown Derby remaining. The food was actually really good. I had the famous cobb salad as an appetizer and had them hold the tomatoes, which was no problem at all. When they say the salad is finely chopped, they mean it. For a comparison, pico de gallo is slightly chunkier. I wasn't sure about the blend of flavors in the cobb salad, they were all very bold and very unique and it took a couple of bites to get used to the unique flavor adventure, but I did end up eating all but a couple of bites so it is something I would order again just not the large portion though as the appetizer size was plenty. I am not a big blue cheese fan and tolerate it in tiny doses but I do enjoy flavor and as a foodie I had to give the salad a try. For my entree, I chose their signature steak and it was delicious! It came with potatoes and a green bean/carrot mix of roasted vegetables. Mmmmmm. I had the grapefruit cake for dessert. It isn't listed on the menu, only as a mini on the dessert trio sampler, but I asked about it and the server brought me a full sized slice. Before I ordered it I had no idea what to expect but I will say that it was quite tasty and not really that tart and not too grapefruity at all. It was not too sweet either and a nice refreshing dessert to my wonderful meal. During my meal the server brought my paper fastpass ticket to my table and it allowed me access to special seating without the standby line for hours to get a seat. The seating they had reserved for the FP section was fantastic. Prime viewing location in the center and high enough up to get a great view. The package was a great deal and I really enjoyed the show, but I will happily return here just to dine too. The menu offered several tasty choices, but I would order the same meal exactly again, it was that good.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice atmosphere, excellent service
Cons: High priced food that was below mediocre

Had not been to Brown Derby for years, but wanted to have a good salad. Ate lunch there on Nov.15th. We ordered two appetizer Cobb Salads and also shared the Wagu burger with wife. We did not order any drinks other than water and our bill still came to $50 with tip.

I am confident that I could create my own extremely large salad with the very same ingredients at any grocery store salad bar for less than half the cost and it would be every bit as good if not better than the Cobb Salad at Brown Derby. While the hamburger was very good the bottom of the bun was so soggy it would not hold together. The six steak potato wedges were cold and tasteless.

It will be many many years before I return. I cannot imagine any universe where this restaurant would ever be worth two table service meals on the dining plan. There is no comparison between this restaurant and Narcoosee's or Yachtmans Steakhouse.

Gave the restaurant a two rating instead of a one because the service was good.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Escape from the crowd
      Cons: Price

We made advanced reservations months before our trip for a 1:30 lunch seating.

Haven't been to The Brown Derby in about 15 years. (Or at least when they had the piano in the middle of the room and did the Hollywood character skits).

We used the Tables in Wonderland discount program.

We were seated in the center section in a spacious booth.

Our Server was crisply dressed and knew the menu back and forth.

My husband had a Sam Addams Octoberfest and I had one of their signature Martinis. We felt miles away from the heat and sweating tank-top clad park patrons.

We enjoyed our respective meals for their taste and presentation (not so important what we ate, but that it was delivered timely and at the right temp.)

Their dessert choices involved picking 1 of 3 different desserts or 3 of 1. It comes plated on a rectangular chilled plate. The cost seems high versus the entree prices. That's a big down side as the 3 dessert servings are tiny.

The bill arrived accurately- deducting the TIW 20% discount which we returned to the server as his service deserved it.

It won't be an annual meal, but it was nice to go back this trip.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very good food, nice atmosphere
      Cons: expensive

If you eat at the Derby make sure it is your only big meal because you will leave feeling quite full. We did the Fantasmic package but I don't believe I would do it again. It is a fixed price and includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage plus rolls. It's just a lot of food and we could have reduced our bill and stomach by just ordering entrees and then splitting a dessert. The fantasmic seating it entitled us to was nothing special. We visited in September when crowds were low so maybe during peak times it makes more sense. The atmosphere in the restaurant is up scale with caricatures of celebrities on the walls. It's a nice break from the noise and crowds with the advantage of great food.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The cast members here are soo friendly
      Cons: none

I love their cobb salad. I would have given them a ten but my salad was a lot smaller than the last time I was there. The desserts were wonderful. The cast members are great here. They were busy but we never felt rushed. I simply love this place trip after trip.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): ambiance
Cons: food, wait staff, price, limited menu

The restaurant is beautiful inside. That is the only nice thing I can say, the menu is extremely limited. Our waiter was terrible it took us almost 2 1/2 to eat dinner because he kept disappearing. People that came in after us had their food & were leaving before our entrees came out. I had the cobb salad, which was ok, but I have had better at other places, I also had the pork chop the first two bites were good & then the rest was raw inside ( not medium , raw ) & inedible. When I left 3/4 of my pork chop on the plate the waiter never asked if there was an issue just took the plate & disappeared again. My son had the filet, which he said was good & my husband had the lamb chops. We all agreed it was not worth two dining points. We all said we had a better meal at Coral Reef in Epcot

Positive aspects of the product (pros): nice atmosphere
      Cons: food

The atmosphere at this restaurant is quite nice, BUT if you do not like expensive cold food do not go here. We used to frequent this restaurant in the past years, but after being here last week we will not go back. I felt really bad, such a dissapointment.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Atmosphere
      Cons: Some Unruly Children

We tried the Cobb Salad for an appetizer and thought it was good, but different due to the chopped up salad. One of us ordered a steak, which was good; and one of us ordered the duck. Both meals were enjoyable. It was nice to get three small dessert choices. There were some unruly children at the restaurant (hey! it's an amusement park), but they left early during our meal and we enjoyed the rest of our evening. We would recommend this restaurant.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): new Lounge is awesome
Cons: wish all chairs were low; I'm short.

I love it!! busy time, so great to walk in and enjoy fave foods at the Derby. took my daughter and granddaughter there, also--they really enjoyed it, too. went there my last afternoon, too; getting the entree Cobb and a regular piece of Grapefruit Cake. this restaurant has great memories for me; great to have the Lounge to renew these memories. Cast members were awesome!!!!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Atmosphere, Service, Food, and Part of "Fantasmic" Package
      Cons: NONE

My husband and I had dinner here on March 10th. Everything was phenomenal, from the service to the food.
We were seated promptly at our 5:30 pm ADR.
For starters, I had the spring rolls and my husband had the lobster bisque. Both were very good.
For our entrees, I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the filet. I totally understand why the Cobb salad is their signature dish. It was excellent.
For dessert, I had the 3 minis: creme brulee, cobbler and cookie puff. My husband had the 3 mini desserts as well: grapefruit cake, the banana toffee cake and the chocolate sphere. Our waiter also brought him an extra chocolate sphere with a candle and sung happy Birthday to him.
We were also given our priority seating passes for Fantasmic (located in the dead center of the theater).

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Decore, Serice
Cons: Food, and Price for what you get

My wife, 14yo daughter and I ate lunch at the Brown Derby on Thursday, February 13, 2014. We had reservations for three at 2PM. We arrived at 1:50pm and were seated after about a five minute wait in a large round booth. Our server was good and attentive throughout our meal.

Al of us got the lobster bisque as our appetizer. The soup was very good and we all loved it. I got an Andouille crusted chicken sandwich which was very spicy – more than I’m use to eating and I did not enjoy it. The bacon served on my sandwich was flavorless and paper thin. My wife had a second appetizer as her main course – the Andouille crusted prawn over grits. She said it was just OK and did not finish her meal. My daughter had the lump crab spring rolls – which she liked and finished.

For dessert we had a trio of mini desserts. Our trio included two crème brulees and a chocolate truffle cake. The crème brulee’ was nearly flavorless – I’ve had better from a mix from the super market. My daughter said the cake was bitter and did not finish it.

Overall, our bill for lunch, with tip, was $101 – we had sodas and water, no alcohol. This was way over priced for what we got and the quality of the food. We will never return.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Cobb Salad!
      Cons: None

The Brown Derby and the Cobb Salad is the only reason I go to MGM Studios. The ambiance in the restaurant is great and so is the service. No complaints, though there is a limited selection of food choices for children.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Atmosphere
Cons: Menu is getting pretty old

While the service continues to be impeccable, we are finding the menu to be limited and getting old. We have always eaten here but our dinner in December may be our last until the menu is updated. Our entrees (steak and pork chop) were rather dry and the accompaniments were rather bland. We kept looking for salt and pepper to season our food. The strawberry champagne cheesecake was the highlight of the meal. We actually canceled a second return dinner ADR and went elsewhere since the food was so predictable and not signature dining quality

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great food and Service
      Cons: Waiting area very small

We had lunch at the Hollywood Brown Derby and it was excellent, even though the wait was long and they were very busy.
My daughter-in-law and I had the Cobb salad and it was excellent. My wife had the Lobster Bisque and hse said it was very good.
I had the Filet of beef and it was superb. My son had the duck two ways and it said it was excellent. All in all it was a Great Experience.
The Grapefruit cake was also excellent.
