Pros: Food, service and ambiance
Cons:

We had lunch here on 10/25. We have eaten here many times and I became nervous after reading some of the recent negative reviews, but I can honestly say it was near perfect. Our server came to our table to inquire how we were doing repeatedly, the time between courses was well paced, and we recieved a chocolate mousse surprise for my birthday. We shared a Cobb salad appetizer which was tossed and served at the table. My husband's duck 2 ways was great, and the Ahi tuna I had was much better than the tuna I had the night before at the California Grill. Only negative, a bad table for a party of two, which I am beginning to think is a Disney corporate policy.

Pros: Comfy seats
Cons: Service - value for money- quality of food

We ate here on 26th October at 4.00pm as part of the Fantasmic package. I was keen to try this establishment and perhaps I was expecting more, but I felt that the experience did not live up to the hype. Service was slow and chaotic. At one point I randomly received a glass of water that I did not order- no one else in my party of 4 was offered or received water! The food was not of the standard I expected. We had Cobb salad which was ok- a bit like an upmarket sandwich filling I suppose all finely chopped so you could not identify the ingredients- OK but not great. I followed with the Coconut Tofu noodle bowl. One smallish piece of Tofu on a huge bed of noodles, I have a hearty appetite, but I must have left at least half the noodles. They were swimming in a rather bitter tasting red curry broth- not a great dish. My daughter had the pumpkin and squash soup which she enjoyed and then her and my wife both had the Chicken which they both said was dry and felt maybe had been resting under heat lamps too long. Puddings were Grapefruit cake which was nice and creme brulee which was ok. All in all, it was just ok and not worth the premium for which they charged - don't get me wrong I am happy to pay whatever for good food and we had a historic meal at Fulton costing more than what we paid here. I just think that I am glad I have tried it- but definitely will not go back however comfy the seats!

Pros: Good food
Cons: totally unorganized check-in

I cant say my experience here was bad, but, the check-in process as in most of the Park restaurants was less than desireable. Why make people wait like sitting ducks when there are empty tables.
Food and service was very good.

Pros: service and food
Cons: none

My husband and I had lunch here September 18th and it was very nice. When we checked in a party of 6 was inquiring about reservations and changed their minds when they learned it was 2 table service credits. They may have wanted to stay after all after we learned something interesting. When we ordered our lunch ( I had the duck and my husband had the rib eye steak-both were very good)our server told us they are offering the Fantasmic package free of charge. It includes an appetizer and tickets to that evenings 8pm show. Why would we turn that down so we got appetizers as well as our entrée (back to the old dining plan). We also were told to go to the side gate 45 minutes ahead of the show and then you will go to your reserved section for Fantasmic. We were in the general line last year without the package and this was a lot better to go through the side gate. We would return to Hollywood Brown Derby with or without the Fantasmic package as the service was great and the food was awesome also.

Pros: service, banana dessert
Cons:

Ate here with the Fantasmic package with another couple. The food was good and the service was much better most anywhere on property. The banana dessert was my favorite on the entire trip. The crab cake was very good, our friend had the grouper which was also very good, to be honest I can't even remember what the rest of us had. Being on the deluxe dining plan, we ate so much that week it is hard to remember what we ate each day. When we return we would not have to go back here, not because it was a bad experience or anything, we are just more adventurous eater and would like to go to restaurants that we could get that type of food in.

Pros: Cobb salad, very nice server
Cons: Confused table seating, Change in menu

We (4 adults, 1 one year-old) ate lunch here on Friday, October 2, 2009.

There was some confusion regarding where to sit us. I had booked online and requested a high chair. When I checked-in at the restaurant, the hostess mentioned that I would need a high chair. However, they put us at a table that wouldn't allow a high chair because it blocked the aisle. So, our poor seater had to go back to the front desk and get eveything switched - which they did. But considering the restaurant wasn't crowded, it seemed like an odd mistake to make.

However, once we were seated, we had a lovely server who treated my son great, kept our drinks filled, and seemed happy to be there.

We were disappointed that the Cobb Salad had been moved to the appetizer section rather than entree, however. Our server assured us that the size was the same and that 2 people could still split it. So we ordered those as our entrees . . . well, I don't think they're the same size. We were able to split, but you're left with a pretty small salad and no extras like we had on previous visits. Still yummy, but I was left wanting more.

For dessert, I had the cheesecake, which was delicious but nothing to write home about. I think the others had the bananas foster, which they all enjoyed.

Overall, a good time but not what I was hoping for. I needed to satisfy my Coob salad craving . . .

Pros: Waiter, desserts
Cons: wait

My wife & I celebrated our anniversary here on 9/20. It was a Fantasmic night, so it was packed with a lot of angry hot people. The food and service were very good. Our waiter, Gany, was awesome..very knowledgeable and focused. It is obvious that the staff knows that the one night/week Fantasmic is driving the restaurant to be slammed on that night. Overall, good experience,,the desserts are awesome!!!

Pros: Great Atmosphere, Good Food
Cons: Expensive

This is by far, the best restaurant in Hollywood Studios. I was there 9/28-10/5 with my husband, two children and mom. It has that great "old Hollywood" atmosphere that reminds you of old movies. The food is excellent and the service was wonderful as well. It does take two table service meals from your meal plan, however, it is well worth it as the other HS restaurants do not compare. It is a MUST after a long, exhausting day in the park where a glass of wine and a quiet dinner are much needed.

Pros: Food, Service, atmosphere. wine list
Cons: nothing

This may have been our favorite meal of the trip. I left the Beauty and Beast show early to make our reservation time of 11:55 and our table was ready but they were really great about my husband and the kids not being there yet. As soon as they arrived we were seated in one of the curved booths that the kids loved.

Our waitress was great - Miranda I think. kids had hot dogs that came with baked chips and ate everything. DH and I orderd three appetizers to share - the Cobb, of course, the crab cake and the smoked salmon. We loved all of it. I had a glass of wine and DH had a beer. Was a lovely meal we are anxious to repeat with or without he kids! We thought it was a good value too, but we use the Tables in Wonderland card so that really helps.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, good food
Cons: none

We love this restaurant, although we only eat lunch at this restaurant because we tend to eat dinners close to our resort. We most recently ate here on Sept. 26th. The food was very good as usual, and the atmosphere is a nice break from the crowded park. However, I was very disappointed that they took the fresh egg linguini off the menu! It was my favorite. It was on the menu when we went in May '09 and I was looking forward to having it again. This should be a regular menu item. Also, it happened to be raining when we were there in May, so the street actors came into the restaurant and were interacting with the patrons. That was really fun! I wish they were a regular part of this dining experience. When we were there on Sept. 26th, my husband and I both had the grouper and my "adult" 10 year old daughter had the roasted chicken. We all loved it. I can't forget to mention the Sweet Corn Bisque! It is fabulous. It is actually my favorite part of the meal since they took the linguini off the menu. I had the Flourless Chocolate cake for dessert and my husband got the French Vanilla Creme Brulee. Both were delicious, but the Chocolate cake is very rich. It was nice to share the two desserts. FYI, if you are going to eat at the signature restaurants often, the deluxe dining plan is well worth the price!

Pros: beats me.
Cons: service, food, overall appearance

This had to have been our 10th meal at the Brown Derby, and all we could wonder this trip is: What the Heck happened? The menu choices were in a word, pathetic. 1 beef choice, (and not even filet mignon..some cheap fatty lesser cut).

I could not decide if we were there for the convenience of the wait staff, or the other way around. EVERY table he waited on (I think there were 6? mostly couples or fam's of 4 or less) had to BEG for their drinks or heaven help you, refills. We didn't get our drinks until after we'd finished our appetizers. Now yes, we were on the Dining plan, and this meal was DOUBLE .. and still we dropped over $50.00 above and beyond the what the plan covered, not including the tip, which I tried to convince my husband not to leave at all but..oh well.

We both had the steaks, which were not cooked properly, I'm a MRare eater, hubby a Med. eater, there was No "pink" appearing on either our plates. But we couldn't flag anyone down to come take care of it, so for fear of starving to death, we ate what we were given. Desserts were OK, not wonderful or spectacular.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the bathroom was FILTHY.

This is not what we have grown to expect at the BD, or Disney. I think Disney needs to clean the slate, and start from the beginning with this restaurant again. From menus to management to cooks, the whole enchilada.

Pros: Atmosphere and Cobb Salad
Cons: Pricey

We had lunch here on 9/10/09. The Cobb Salad was great, as always, and the service was good. We have always had a good experience at the Brown Derby.

Pros:
Cons:

I had lunch at the Brown Derby on September 19th. It was ok, but not a place I would rush back to. The person greeting guests was rude. My waiter was fine but after other parties got there I realized he wasn't giving me all the information he should have. I started with the ravioli for an appetizer which was fantastic. Next I had the Cobb Salad, I've had better. I finished with the grapefruit cake and didn't like it but I don't like grapefruit. It did take awhile to get my bill and change but it wasn't to an extreme. Defiantly not the best restaurant at Disney, but it was ok.

Pros: The Food
Cons: The Service, The manager

We were on Dinning Plan and everywhere knew we were on Honeymoon and greated us accordingly and treated us very well - shame the Brown Derby let Disney down.

When we arrived we were told we 'might' get seated at our reservation time, half an hour past that we were shown to a table in the Banana room, off of the main resturant. They were clearly using this as they had over booked in the main resturant. As we sat down there was a commotion atthe next table and the manager came in to deal with a very angry guest, his family had left in tears. It appeared that he had been there 2 hours and still han't got the check.

After she had quite sharply dealt with him, she came to make sure we were ok, We said we were but pointed out we had been there 10 minutes and not seen the server, her reply was at least you have drinks!! If I say that our dinner also took 2 hours, we were told at one point that we were 'lucky' to be sat where we were as it was usually kept for VIP guests. We missed the fireworks and had to get up and go to the front desk to demand our bill which still took 20 minutes.

I will never eat here again.

Pros: Cobb salad
Cons: Service

I really wished that I had read recent reviews for this restaurant before out last trip. My husband and I ate here on our honeymoon 7 years ago and LOVED it so I was excited to be going again this September (2009). Boy was I in for a shock! Check-in was fine, the hostess took note of my birthday button and wished me a happy birthday and made a note on our reservation (will come back to this later). We were seated and waited approx 5-10 mins to be greeted by our server. He seemed extremely busy but did not seem to have very many tables to wait on in the area. He finally took our order and he did serve us our cobb salad appetizer (which was very good) but that was the last we saw of him until the check arrived. Many tables were receiving their entrees before us and we finally had them delivered lukewarm by another server. I was not impressed and my entree was average (I ordered the duck). We paid for our extremely overpriced food and had to wait what seemed like forever for our server to return with our Tables in Wonderland card so we could leave. Even though the hostess had noted my birthday on our reservation, there was never any mention of it by our server that evening. The experience really put a damper on my whole evening. My husband was starting to get tired of hearing me state all the other places I would have rather eaten that night. I think that if we had great service that night, my opinion would be completely different but based on recent reviews on AllEars, this is one area that this establishment really needs to work one. I was tempted to not use my 20% tables in wonderland discount card so that my server wouldn't receive the automatic 18% gratuity with it - it was that bad!

Also, on a different note - while we were sitting in the waiting area to be seated I heard the hostess turn away a lady who did not have reservations saying that they are completely booked all night. Five minutes later another guest (without reservations) was offered a table and given a pager.

I don't think that my family and I will be returning here again.
