4 Adults celebrated one 40th birthday in February 2012. We were casually dressed.

The offered bottled water and did not charge(!) us for it, which was a surpise and delight. One ordered onion soup - which she said was amazing; we ordered a side of mac & cheese. It was a generous (and shared) portion with crumbled blue cheese on top. We ordered 2 filets, 1 ribeye, and 1 Kurobuta pork. We were all pleased with the reults. They brought a birthday chocolate treat (maybe the bonita?) which we all enjoyed.

The chairs were comfortable, the linens were appropriate, and the atmosphere was very nice - easy to forget that you are at the Disneyland Resort.

We (2 Adults: late 30s, late 60's) enjoyed the character Breakfast in December 2011. Great Value for the money compared to other character meals (and the buffet is certainly a much better value than La Brea).

My mother selected to order eggs benny from the menu; I opted for the buffet (unlimited Mickey waffles!). The wonderful thing about Storyteller's is that - unlike Goofy's kitchen -they don't have the waffles or pancakes piled in a pan under a heat lamp; instead they are delivered from the kitchen fresh and hot. The attendants were right on top of requesting additional waffles when I was ready. We never waited for a refill.

The characters were as described by others: Coda, Kenai, racoon, terk, chip & dale. (Although we only saw Kenai for a second, Coda came by twice).

It is important to note that this breakfast is not described as a "Premium Character Breakfast". The overall cost is less than the premium meals (contrast with Goofy's Kitchen or Ariel's Grotto). The characters are fewer, and more woodland themed as appropriate to the nature theme of the Grand Californian.

If you are looking for a meal convenient to your hotel room or to the parks (we stayed off -property), where the characters are just a nice plus to the meal experience, and you want more of a low-key feel - then this is the place for you.

We ate at Tortilla Jos in December 2012 and March 2011 (2 adults in Dec; 4 adults, 2 kids in Mar).

(Also ate at the Taqueria around the corner in January 2012, which is fine if you need food to go, but otherwise skip it and eat the better food choices inside the main restaurant or at the bar patio.)

The chips (wonderful) and salsa come right away. We loved the giant plate of Nachos - and terrific value for the money. Go for the barbacoa: the steak is flavorful and moist! There was a lot of wonderful melted cheese. The quac is great. The enchilada was terrific. The margaritas are big and delicious.

The only negative is that the service varies. Sometimes the staff member regularly checks in, other times you wait for a while for your refills or your check or getting your receipt to sign... But the portions are generous, the food is flavorful, and the value is terrific.

We love Tortilla Jos, but didn't have time for a table-serviced sit down meal.

So we tried Tortilla Jos Taqueria (the fast food equivalent located to the left of TJ's main entry) in January 2012. It was 1pm on a Saturday. The chips are as wonderful as the chips they serve at the indoor wait-staff served tables. The wonderful steak is the same as inside, but the nachos left A LOT to be desired in terms of the cheese. The choices are shredded jack and/or the wateriest, runny cheese-like liquid. The cheese was so disappointing. We were astounded that the nachos at the Taqueria were so poor in contrast to the wonderful nachoes served inside the main restaurant.

So if you are in a hurry - Tortilla Jo's Taqueria is super if you want a quick burrito, but do yourself a favor and have chips and salsa instead of the Taqueria nachos.

We (2 Adults) enjoyed the Holiday Time at Disneyland tour in December 2011. I called 29 days in advance of arrival, and there was "plenty of room" according to the cast member on the phone. They offer discounted pricing to AAA Members and Annual Pass holders, so be sure to mention your affiliation. We selected a Friday and the later tour(so we could enjoy the backdrop of a lighted Small World during the parade).

We picked up our Tour passes at Will Call - outside of the parks - a day ahead, but you can pick them up whenever. Our tour guide was Stephanie. Very cheerful, an excellent speaker, and stayed pretty much to what we assume is a script. As stated in other reviews, the topic is primarily Christmas Traditions around the World. There is some discussion of Disneyland Holiday prep, but not nearly enough (again, they stick to their script). We wished they would have talked more about how many people, how many nights it takes, the tedious hours of preparation, etc. However we we did enjoy the Tour. Our group included a person on a scooter, and the tour was able to accommodate the guest.

We walked through Main St, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and NO Square. Stopping occasionally along the way. When we arrived at Haunted Mansion Holiday, we were taken to the front of the line. After HMH, we met up and were headed to the Disneyland RR where we boarded first. When we arrived at Its a Small World Holiday, we had to wait 5 minutes (still front of the line, compared to 90min wait), then we all boarded the same boat for the merriest cruise that ever sailed. We then headed to collect our cocoa and gingerbread cookie (which was much better than expected: soft and yummy), and took our front of the parade seats in from two rows of chairs. As we waited for the parade, the guides shared a book about Walt and the parks with each group and gave us out special pins.

The tour guide speaks through a wireless device and the group members wear wired headphones. The headphones have clearly been worn many times, and they check in and out - which is a bummer. Normally along the route you would hear Christmas carols (sing a long!), but the ipod died during the longest period of music play, and the tour guided didn't notice until she went to speak again. It's not the end of the world, but I can imagine how much more festive it would be with music playing.

All in all, we found the cost to be worth the expense. We would both do it again. And we are now interested in taking the other Tours offered throughout the year.
