Hidden Mickeys on Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A.

Many compelling Hidden Mickeys can be found in Disneyland, California. We also come across a few questionable images at times. Let's begin our search on Main Street, U.S.A.

A subtle classic Mickey shadow hides in the Disney Gallery, which is right next to the "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" theater. Find the image in a drawing of a Euro Disneyland Railroad car on a wall to the far right as you enter the gallery from Main Street. The railroad car has a "Coney Island" label on its side. In the fifth window from the left, the shadow of a person's head resembles Mickey. (Thanks to Mari H.)

The Mad Hatter store is on the corner to the left of the Disney Gallery. A few second-story windows to the right of the Mad Hatter store sign is a window commemorating Disney Legend Blaine Gibson, an animator and sculptor. (One of his creations is the "Partners" bronze statue of Walt and Mickey.) Classic Mickey ears form the right side of a soap carving that is painted in the window. (Thanks to Jason Gall).

What do you think about the following images? Circles in wallpaper in the Chester Drawer's children's store, next to Disney Clothiers, might approximate a classic Mickey. Circles behind the "C" in the wallpaper seem closer to a Mickey image than those behind other letters. (Thanks to Josh Burch).

A chandelier in an embroidery shop, near the Disney Showcase store, has small projections that might resemble Mickey. Is it close enough? (Thanks to Justine Mikhail and Mark Treiger).

You can still find the Pinocchio game machine with its classic Mickey in the Penny Arcade. It's been sitting at the rear of the Arcade for a while now. The small Mickey sits between the play buttons on the machine.

Enjoy the search!

Questionable Hidden Mickeys in the Disneyland Resort

Take a look at some images from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The first photo is from the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square. In the stretching room, one picture shows an alligator with gaping jaws under a woman on a tightrope. Do any of the alligator's green, round scales form a classic, three-circle Hidden Mickey? (Thanks to Lisa Sentif, and Jason Gall.)

Inside the Silver Spur Supplies store in Frontierland, a photo of John Wesley Hardin (a notorious outlaw who became a lawyer) hangs on a wall in a room to the right as you enter the store. Just to the left of his right (as you face the photo) forearm, a design in the cabinetry woodwork has markings that resemble a face. Is it Mickey's face? (Thanks to Bobby Naus and friend).

At Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure, order something sweet at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. While you're waiting for your just reward, study a mural at the right side of the rear wall behind the counters. A tree stands in a sidewalk along a street and to the right of a red trolley. Do the round leaf clusters at the top middle of the tree (or anywhere in the tree) make a classic Hidden Mickey? (Thanks to Sharon Gee).

In Cars Land, check out Sarge's Surplus Hut. As you enter, three green tarp rolls or mats are stacked high on a shelf along a wall to your right. An upside-down classic Hidden Mickey? (Thanks to Madison Dunn, and Sharon Gee).

Have fun with the search!

More Hidden Mickeys at Disneyland Resort

Mickey is hiding throughout the Disneyland Resort in California! I'll mention a few great Hidden Mickeys first and then ask your opinion about two other images.

At the Disneyland Hotel, paintings hang on the second floor walls in the Convention Center area. Glance around for a painting of Space Mountain. In the sky at the upper left is a fireworks classic (three-circle) Mickey tilted to the left. (Thanks to April Beisser).

While you're shopping in the World of Disney store at Downtown Disney, look high for these two Hidden Mickeys. In a mural near the ceiling on the right side of the Princess room near the center of the store, above an opening to the next room, a classic Mickey hides above the center arch of a covered walkway on the bridge over the canal. The bridge is behind Goofy the Gondolier and Lady and the Tramp sharing spaghetti. (Thanks to Ashley Cabrera).

In a mural near the ceiling on the left side of the Princess room, another tiny white classic Mickey is on an Oriental archway to the right of Cruella De Vil and several Dalmatians. (Thanks to Mehlanie Kayra).

What do you think of this image? While you're shooting targets on Toy Story Midway Mania in Paradise Pier, stay alert for colorful gears on the wall as you change scenes early along the ride. Do you see a convincing Hidden Mickey in the gears? (Thanks to The Waidmann Family).

And what about this image? A jar of washers sits high on a shelf about halfway along the rear wall of the first room in the seating area to the right as you enter Flo's V8 Cafe in Cars Land. Is there a convincing upside-down classic Hidden Mickey in the washers? (Thanks to Steve Orme).

Enjoy the search!

Hidden Mickeys in Paradise Pier, Disney California Adventure

Stroll along the magnificent promenade around the lagoon in Paradise Pier and stay alert for Hidden Mickeys! First, hop on Toy Story Midway Mania and watch for the screen with target balloons in front of the volcano spewing lava. If you pop the middle 100-point balloon on the second tier, a light faint classic Mickey appears on the rear surface in the lava behind the balloons. (Extra circles and zeros may appear in a photo of the 3-D image). (Thanks to Jennifer Oliphant, Catherine Conroy, Holly Haider, Robert Huntington, Evelyn Vides, Mari, Rosemary and Neil [], Jessica Van Linge, and Tara Jacob).

Now look for the screen with moving white plates. At one point, a large front plate aligns with smaller plates behind it to form a classic Mickey. (Thanks to Rosemary and Neil []).

Mosey over to Goofy's Sky School. Along the standby entrance queue, check the walls for cork bulletin boards. On the first board, three round impressions in the cork form a classic Mickey. It’s tilted to the right, and it’s at the right lower side of the upside-down note that says, “Notice to Appear.”

A similar classic Hidden Mickey made of impressions is on the second bulletin board on another wall along the queue line. This one is tilted to the left and is partially covered by the left side of a handwritten letter that says “Dear Teach.” Look above the right upper corner of a note that reads “I Fix Planes!” to spot it. (Thanks to Jasmine Martinez, Rosemary and Neil [], and Sam Vanderspek).

Always study Disney shops for hidden images! At the Seaside Souvenirs shop, one or more Mickey balloons is painted high on the walls behind merchandise shelves. Also, two brown Nautilus submarines are in these murals behind the shelves. (“Nautilus” is the submarine, commanded by Captain Nemo, in Jules Verne’s novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.) (Thanks to John Martinez).

Happy Hunting!

Searching Disneyland's Fantasyland for Hidden Mickeys

I enjoyed the show "Mickey and the Magical Map" in Fantasyland at Disneyland, California. In fact, the show was so entertaining, I had difficulty concentrating on Hidden Mickey images! Actually, you can find the first two images below before the show starts. A gold classic Mickey made of circles is in the middle of a stained glass window at the far left side of the stage. This Hidden Mickey is best viewed from close to the stage. (Thanks to Sherrie Cotton).

Classic Mickeys in the stars can be spotted from the audience seats. This upside-down Mickey is on the right upper corner of the stage border. (Thanks to Sherrie Cotton, and Sharon Gee).

At the other side of Fantasyland, I cranked Clopin's Music Box and observed some of the characters move around inside the box. Look closely at the people inside, many are famous characters from Disney movies! In the following photo of some of the faces, you can spot Belle, Mr. Smee, Geppetto and probably many more. (Thanks to Sherrie Cotton, and LMD Hidden Mickey Finders).

I like to admire the boats at the Storybook Land Canal Boats attraction. This day, I had another reason for studying the boats: there are Hidden Mickeys in the exterior design of some of the boats! This classic Mickey formed of purple berries on a vine is on the Snow White boat. A bluebird seems mighty interested in these berries. (Thanks to Rosemary and Neil -

This classic Mickey is on the rear of the Wendy boat. (Thanks to Jason Gall).

I had a fruitful day at Disneyland. Happy Hunting!

A Few New Hidden Mickeys at Disneyland

Some folks had written to me about Hidden Mickeys in the new areas of Fantasyland in Disneyland, California. I like to visit Disneyland whenever I can, especially to check out new Hidden Mickey sightings. Check out these images!

In Fantasy Faire, you can meet your favorite princesses at the Royal Hall and enjoy a Princess-themed show at the Royal Theatre (check your Times Guide).

In Fantasy Faire, locate Clopin's Music Box for some interesting images. To refresh, Clopin is the leader of the gypsies in the Disney movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

Look to the far left inside the Music Box to spot this classic three-circle Mickey at the top of the second window from the left. (Thanks to Nikolas Tejeda).

At the other side of Fantasyland is the Fantasyland Theatre, where you can enjoy the high-tech show "Mickey and the Magical Map." Watch the backdrop of the stage for floating classic Hidden Mickey images. (Thanks to Sherrie Cotton and Sharon Gee).

Follow along in the show as Mickey interacts with an elusive black splotch. At one point, just for a second, the round splotch forms a classic Mickey! (Thanks to Sherrie Cotton and Sharon Gee).

With any new Disney offerings, always be vigilant for new Hidden Mickeys!

More Fun with Disneyland Resort Characters and Hidden Mickeys

Ron W. wrote me about an interesting Hidden Mickey image in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in the Grizzly Peak section of California Adventure. Climb up stairs to the Mt. Whitney Lookout and check out the phonetic spelling alphabet (also known as the NATO phonetic alphabet and more accurately as the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet) on a sheet of paper atop a table in the Lookout room. The word for "M" in the official phonetic spelling alphabet is "Mike." But this is Disney! So the word for "M" is, you guessed it, Mickey! (I think "Mickey" would work just as well).

Vickie and I enjoy Fantasyland whenever we visit Disneyland, California. Here we can reconnect with Mr. Toad, since he no longer has his own attraction at Walt Disney World. Mr. Toad greets you along the inside entrance queue to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

I like to pay my respects to the tiny red Hidden Mickey in Mr. Toad's right eye.

I finally got a decent photo of the shadow of Sherlock Holmes in an upper window of the Constabulary building along Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Find him to your left midway through the ride after you leave Winky's Pub.

Vickie and I met up with a huge number of fun-loving Disney characters during our excellent breakfast at the Plaza Inn Restaurant. Here's Rafiki goofing around:

I told Max that my favorite Disney character was his father Goofy, and one of my favorite Disney movies is "A Goofy Movie," in which Max comes into his own as a serious Disney actor! Max was all smiles:

Disneyland rocks!

Hidden Mickeys Trip to Disneyland and Cars Land

Vickie and I visited Disneyland, California to check out new happenings there. I always enjoy Walt's original park, and California Adventure has added some compelling new sights. The food in Disneyland is reliably good to me. Here I am with Tigger at the Plaza Inn on Main Street, U.S.A. for "Minnie & Friends - Breakfast in the Park."

A friendly Cast Member confirmed to me the location of a cool Hidden Mickey inside the Emporium Store. Walk into the store entrance facing Main Street and at the end of the store closest to City Hall. Look behind the cashier's counter to your right as you enter the store and find a still life painting with flowers on the wall. A distorted but recognizable image of Sorcerer Mickey is on a blue globe which sits on a small table. (Thanks to Jessica Strom for writing to me about this great image.)

Walking into Cars Land at California Adventure is like walking into a "Cars" movie set. You enter Cars Land on Route 66 lined with its flashy stores and diners. At night, the colorful neon lights blaze the way along Route 66, drawing you to the premier attraction of Cars Land: Radiator Springs Racers, which is a next generation "Test Track" ride through Ornament Valley and the mountains of the Western U.S. You'll pass by Flo's V8 Cafe, a counter service restaurant with food you might find on the real Route 66.

At the far end of Route 66 is a statue of Stanley in front of the Radiator Springs Fire Department.

If you stay alert, you'll spot a few awesome Hidden Mickey images in Cars Land. For example, at Ramone's House of Body Art (a merchandise shop), the outside display windows showcase car hoods which are painted with amazing detail, including subtle and difficult to find Hidden Mickeys. Here's a tiny classic Hidden Mickey on a car hood inside Ramone's store. (Thanks to Rosemary and Neil [] and Peter Brown).

Cars Land is filled with awe-inspiring detail and art, complete with Hidden Mickeys!

Disney California Adventure - New Ariel Attraction Hidden Mickeys

The new attraction at Disney California Adventure Paradise Pier, "The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure," immerses the guest in the Little Mermaid story and offers a few Hidden Mickeys and some other character images along the way. For example, Ariel is underfoot in the tile work along the entrance walkway to the attraction. (Thanks to Laura Wright).

Look up for a classic three-circle Hidden Mickey repeated in the upper decorative scroll work along the outside entrance queue. (Thanks to Juan M. Martinez III, Cindy McKeown, Evelyn Vides, Robert Powers, and Michael Buell).

At the lower left corner of the huge loading dock mural, above the green tile, three small circular impressions in a large rock form a classic Mickey. (Thanks to Michael Early, Michael Shearin, and Orlando Attractions Magazine).

The ride vehicle takes you past scenes and characters from the Little Mermaid story, including Ariel and Eric

and King Triton

This new attraction at Disney California Adventure is fun for the entire family. Ariel's story unfolds in visual graphics and 3-D characters and colorful scenes, accompanied by much of the timeless musical score from the Disney movie. The attraction itself reminds me of popular Disney Fantasyland dark rides such as "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" at Walt Disney World and "Alice in Wonderland" at Disneyland.

Searching Disneyland for Hidden Mickeys

My wife Vickie and I visited Disneyland, California recently to look for Mickey - Hidden Mickeys, that is. We stayed at Disneyland Hotel and found several Mickey images in our room. This classic Mickey is on the shower/bath faucet handle.

As in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Peter Pan's Flight at Disneyland has a long wait most of the day (and in Disneyland, it's not a FASTPASS attraction), so I queued up here soon after park opening (right after I zoomed through Space Mountain and the Matterhorn). I verified that a Hidden Mickey is still in place. In a window outside Peter Pan's Flight, to the left of the entrance queue opening, classic Mickeys are on the feet of a plush bear. He's sitting at the lower right, inside a high window.

I also checked out the evil queen image in Fantasyland. Every 20 seconds or so, the curtains inside the window above the entrance to Snow White's Scary Adventures open and the evil queen looks out over the unsuspecting Fantasyland crowd below.

One of the real joys of Hidden Mickey hunting is discovering one that you haven't noticed before. It's often right there, close to you, but well-camouflaged. A while back, Rosemary and Neil ( informed me of a classic Hidden Mickey in the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Frontierland. Hidden Mickeys in restaurants and shops can disappear over time, and I'm often unable to locate an otherwise decent image that may have vanished. I hadn't spotted the Rancho Hidden Mickey, until now! It's an impression in wood on a pole near a side exit from the restaurant. Now that's a cool image!

On this trip, I took over 650 photos of potential Hidden Mickey images, and I'm not done yet! Disneyland has many unique and compelling Hidden Mickeys; just ask the Cast Members!

Disneyland, CA Hidden Mickeys

I had a recent opportunity to check out a few Disneyland Hidden Characters. I always enjoy visiting Walt's original park. Over the years, Imagineers and artists have placed many compelling Hidden Images on Disneyland Resort property.

Take the Hidden Minnie along the right side of the long, scenic entrance queue of Indiana Jones Adventure. In an office just past the video room, Minnie Mouse is pictured on a partial magazine page on a desktop. The position of this magazine page changes from time to time, exposing more or less of the page. In this recent photo, only Minnie is fully visible.

Indiana Jones

I was dismayed to hear that the classic Hidden Mickey on the shield along the entrance queue of Matterhorn Bobsleds might have disappeared. From a distance, my heart sank as it appeared that the HM was no longer there. However, as you approach the coat of arms shield, the tiny, black Mickey image comes into view! It's on a post on the right side after the queue splits, on a shield with a red and white coat of arms.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Exit Matterhorn Bobsleds on the Tomorrowland side to find a Hidden Nemo traced on the side of a wooden electrical box. It's across the walkway from the Matterhorn exit at an entrance to a smoking area. (Thanks to Where's Mickey).

Hidden Nemo

Near the Disneyland Hotel, on the floor inside to the right of Goofy's Kitchen and Steakhouse 55, a tiny gold classic Hidden Mickey is in the trail of Tinker Bell's pixie dust at the lower right of a blue mosaic of a castle. (Thanks to Mehlanie Kayra and Rachel.)

Goofy's Kitchen

I trust you'll agree with me; these Hidden Gems are fun to find!

Hello from Disneyland II

I just finished updating the Disneyland Hidden Mickeys book, so now we're involved with proofing and readying the book for the printer. I want to mention several more compelling Hidden Mickey images at Disneyland.

This classic Mickey image in the cement may be relatively new. In California Adventure's Sunshine Plaza, face away from the Sun Fountain and locate to your right a cement bench that surrounds a planted area. A small classic Mickey is etched in the ground under the right side of the round lip of the bench that juts out. Cast Members and Security Guards nearby may know about this Hidden Mickey, so ask if you need help! (Thanks to Kristi B., Annie Lin, and Phillip Lemon).

Hidden Mickey Disney's California Adventure

The second Hidden Mickey may have been recently placed as well. After the ballroom scene on the Haunted Mansion ride, as soon as you enter the attic, look to the right for a clock on a bureau. It's to the right of the round portrait of a bride and groom and just to the right of a bright orange and blue lamp. A brown classic Mickey is behind the pendulum of the clock. Remember, look for this gem as soon as you enter the attic. (Thanks to Sarah, Alex Goslar, Brad Steinbrenner, Sylvia McNeil and Matt Dickerson, Tamera, and Jennifer Peterson).

You know how excited you feel when you spot a Hidden Mickey that's hard to find? (At least, that's how I feel!)

Well, I finally found this reference to Mickey in Indiana Jones Adventure. Across from the first drinking fountains in the inside Standby queue, Mickey's initials "M M" in Mara script are on the left wall, just above a horizontal crack in the wall. "M M" is on the far left of the photo below. (Thanks to Luis Valdez).

Hello from Disneyland - Hidden Mickeys

I visited Disneyland, California recently to look for Hidden Mickeys and update the Disneyland Hidden Mickeys book.

I stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel on property. The Disneyland area is all connected, and I like the ability to walk everywhere on property: Disneyland, California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and the on-property hotels.
Paradise Pier Hotel

Brian Bergstrom wrote to me about a tiny classic Mickey in the Village Haus Restaurant in Fantasyland. Walk in the front entrance and turn left to the seating area. In the middle of the room, a beam with a shelf crosses near the ceiling. A tiny white classic Mickey is painted on the stern of a ship that sits on the shelf. It's a cool classic Mickey, hard to spot!
Village Haus Restaurant

Cast Members are sometimes helpful with Hidden Mickeys, so I often ask. A friendly CM showed me a classic Mickey at the Mulholland Madness attraction. It's a silver metal image near the floor of the loading dock, to the right of the vehicles and at the bottom of the yellow sliding fence. Check it out!
Mulholland Madness

Even though some Hidden Mickeys are behind the scenes, you can still manage to find a few of these with deft maneuvering. Luis Valdez wrote to me about a classic Mickey behind the scenes in Mickey's Toontown. To the right of Minnie's House is a huge blue door, and to the right of this door is a "Cast Members Only" walkway. Step into this walkway and turn left to see a rock classic Mickey on the wall!

Mickey's Toontown

I enjoyed Toy Story Midway Mania, although the queue is not as elaborate as the one at Walt Disney World. In the background of the photo, notice that the huge classic Mickey is no longer on the side of California Screamin.'
