Searching Disneyland for Hidden Mickeys

My wife Vickie and I visited Disneyland, California recently to look for Mickey – Hidden Mickeys, that is. We stayed at Disneyland Hotel and found several Mickey images in our room. This classic Mickey is on the shower/bath faucet handle.

As in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland has a long wait most of the day (and in Disneyland, it’s not a FASTPASS attraction), so I queued up here soon after park opening (right after I zoomed through Space Mountain and the Matterhorn). I verified that a Hidden Mickey is still in place. In a window outside Peter Pan’s Flight, to the left of the entrance queue opening, classic Mickeys are on the feet of a plush bear. He’s sitting at the lower right, inside a high window.

I also checked out the evil queen image in Fantasyland. Every 20 seconds or so, the curtains inside the window above the entrance to Snow White’s Scary Adventures open and the evil queen looks out over the unsuspecting Fantasyland crowd below.

One of the real joys of Hidden Mickey hunting is discovering one that you haven’t noticed before. It’s often right there, close to you, but well-camouflaged. A while back, Rosemary and Neil (findingmickey.com) informed me of a classic Hidden Mickey in the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Frontierland. Hidden Mickeys in restaurants and shops can disappear over time, and I’m often unable to locate an otherwise decent image that may have vanished. I hadn’t spotted the Rancho Hidden Mickey, until now! It’s an impression in wood on a pole near a side exit from the restaurant. Now that’s a cool image!

On this trip, I took over 650 photos of potential Hidden Mickey images, and I’m not done yet! Disneyland has many unique and compelling Hidden Mickeys; just ask the Cast Members!
