Disney Pic of the Week: Goodbye to 2015

Deb's Digest Blog

I’ve been thinking about this one for a while. I toyed with doing a collage of all the things that we said goodbye to, in 2015.

But as I look at Walt Disney World in a broader sense I’ve decided that my 2015 Goodbye is to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Its a far cry from the DISNEY MGM Studios that opened and in 2016…..

…the park will embark on major change the likes of which we can only imagine right now. What will remain? What will be re-themed? What will be new? What will disappear?

What will you miss most from the Disney MGM Studios and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and why ??? Leave a comment for me below.

Did you visit this Preview Center? I’d love to see photos of everything including the model.

  1. I am sure I am going to miss Dinosaur Gert (as I call her), as I fear she may not be long for this Disney World.
I miss the old sound stage show with Chevy Chase – that was fun.
Please please don’t take away my Muppets….

This is hands down our family’s favourite park over the years – we visited from the UK in year 1. I just hope it doesn’t lose it’s essence (or Carrot Cake Cookies at The Writer’s Stop)

  2. Hi Deb –

From the current Disney’s Hollywood Studios I’m going to miss Streets of America. I always enjoyed how the Imagineers recreated a slice of old New York City. On my last three visits (2010, 2012, 2015) during Evening Extra Magic Hours I would go to NY Street late and amazingly have it all to myself for 5 to 10 minutes to take pictures and listen to the “City Sounds” played in the background.

From the original Disney-MGM Studios I miss that Disney’ Hollywood Studios is no longer a “Studio.” The Animation, Back Stage Tram & Special Effects Tours and Superstar Television Show were entertaining and amazing, giving us regular folks a “peek behind the curtain.” Once, I was even lucky enough to get picked to play a roll at Superstar TV, playing Al in the “Home Improvement” segment.

To you and everyone at AllEars, have a Safe, Happy & Healthy New Year. Thanks for everything all of you do!

  3. I’m sure I will miss some things, but they are keeping some very good elements as well. Disney is meant to change and evolve. This is just another step. I am excited to see what’s up next. We will visit at the beginning of December 2016. I hope we get to see some of the changes!

  4. I will miss the Osborne Lights! We celebrated Christmas there every other year and I’ll admit I cried when we watched them twinkle and dance for the last time on Christmas night.

Mostly the Animation Building/Tour where as a guide , I was lucky enough to see Mulan being made before my eyes 🙂 Saw Brother Bear , Pocahontas and others . Meeting some of the animators was a great experience 🙂

  6. I have always loved the Studios, whether they call it MGM or Hollywood. I will miss some of the things that have been taken away, but I love all things Disney & I will adjust. I just hope it does not become “Star Wars Land”. I would like to see it keep the original idea of ALL movies, old & new as its theme.

  7. Haven’t been to WDW since 2011 but Hollywood Studios was always a must and probably would go there twice even though it is a small park. Sadly with the changes they are making it won’t suit us but I’m sure it will appeal to many more. However when you’re on a two week holiday it will give us more time for Universal!
Happy New Year to you and thank you for all you do.
