Disney Pic of the Week – New Experience

Light Meter by Lisa K. Berton

It goes without saying that I’m questioned as to why I visit Walt Disney World and Disneyland so often. Haven’t you done everything? they ask. You and I know that the answer is and will always be, no. New attractions are always added as well as resorts, restaurants, shops, characters, and every other aspect of Disney. That is why this week, Scott and I turn our attention to those with which we have just accomplished.

I have yet to stay at the Contemporary Resort. Chef Mickey’s? Check. Gift shops? Check. Monorail station? Check. It was only on this last trip that I actually walked through the main building and out thru the back. A whole new world, indeed.

This metal Mickey Mouse piece of art sits between the back of the Contemporary and Bay Lake.

  1. Hi Lisa,

It’s a tradition for us to take a photo of the kids here every trip after our meal at Chef Mickey’s.

Lisa responds: Why didn’t you tell me it was there years ago? Kidding. That’s great! Maybe the kids should take pics of the parents, too.

  2. Hi Lisa! Love your photos & your blog, especially your recent Newbie & the Geek series. 😉 It also took me years to find this metal Mickey, and I’m a Disney veteran. I think it’s one of the cutest (& lesser known) photo ops out there.

Lisa responds: I’m glad you’re enjoying our zaniness. I agree, resort features stay unknown unless you’ve stayed there and even then, with so much to see and do at the parks, they go unnoticed.

  3. We are asked this all the time too! People who don’t “get it” will never understand that there’s always more to do and that’s not even the point of going! Just being there is the point! How come no one asks people who go to the beach, or camping, or skiing every year, why they are going again?

Lisa responds: I look at it this way, it’s not a matter of “getting it” but rather different things appeal to different people. My brother’s not interested in going to any Disney park. He will travel out of the US and sit on a beach day after day. Different strokes for different folks.
