Disney Pic of the Week – Pins

Light Meter by Lisa K. Berton

Pins are hugely popular amongst Disney fans, so much so that the Walt Disney Company hosts special pin trading events and exclusive releases. They make a huge profit off of pin sales alone so why not create special occasions for buyers to spend even more money.

I have what I consider to be a moderate collection but I’m sure serious collectors would think it small. In order to curb my growing desire to own more than I should, I permit myself to buy just one per trip…unless I find some on sale or they’re really cool or I just have to have it. Yeah, so much for self-restraint.

If you love specific attractions, you can buy pins featuring them. If Tinker Bell is your role model, you could cover cork board walls with her metal likeness. Heck, you could just buy pins featuring ice cream and fill a book. There’s a pin for everything, so this week that’s our focus. Scott will share his photo on Thursday.

You can buy Christmas pins year round in places like It’s a Wonderful Shop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They even have special lanyards.

  1. Wow, you do have self control. Every trip, I get one pin for each day I am there. I have a small collection, I don’t trade. I store mine on a cork board, they hold up pictures from my trips.

Lisa responds: That’s a very creative way to showcase photos.
