Royal Panes

Have you ever noticed that the windows on Main Street, U.S.A. have names and businesses on them? As part of our Disney Pic of the Week series, we’re concentrating on those pieces of glass humbly dedicated to those who helped shape the world of Disney.

These 2 windows read:
The Main Street Diary, “True Tales of Inspiration” Lee A. Cockerell, Editor-in-Chief
Partners in Planning, B. Laval & Associates, “What We Build Together Can Last Forever”

Cockerell is a former Senior Vice President of Operations Walt Disney World Resort
and authored the book Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies from a Life at Disney

Bruce Laval is former Executive Vice President for Operations Development, who worked for Walt Disney for 30 years before he retired in 2001. He’s credited as a co-creator of FastPasses. Yeah, he deserves a hug for that alone.

  1. I have heard that the names on the store windows, on Main Street U.S.A., are like the opening credits in a movie.

Thanks for the story behind the names. Had someone told me that when I was a tot visiting Disney, I would have worked like crazy to get my name up there.

  2. I’m thoroughly enjoying these window pictures. I have often wanted to take the time to view each and every one, but those rides keep pulling me away.

I’m reading Lee Cockerell’s book, what a great read and truly an inspiration. Unbelievable all the wonderful things he did for our little slice of heaven in Florida.

    Keep up the great blogs.

Lisa responds: I hear ya! I haven’t looked at them all either. Maybe I should get his book. Actually that reminds me that my brother was suppose to mail me Keys to the Kingdom.
