Disney Pics of the Week - Swimming Pools

Focus on Disney World by Barrie Brewer

With summer kicking into high gear, Scott and Lisa and I thought it might be nice to show you some of Disney’s swimming pools. As I type this, the temperature in Oregon (where I live) is creeping up to the 100 degree mark. What I wouldn’t give to jump into one of the many refreshing pools at Walt Disney World!

Surprise, surprise, my Pic of the Week is a night shot. Imagine that! I hope you all don’t get tired of these. This is Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It is, hands down, the best resort pool on property.

Hilary:

Great pic! Makes me want to stay @ the Yacht Club!

Kristi:

This is a beautiful shot! We stayed at the Beach Club Villas last week and enjoyed this pool on several occasions. My five-year old loved the Pirate Slide. I can't even count how many times I was made to go down with him! Thanks again for the great pics every week.

Heather Young:

The only time I ever get into a resort pool is in the evening! I'm never around the resorts when the parks are open.

Night shots are fine!

Shane:

Nice picture! It looks so calm and peaceful without hundreds of people swimming in it! LOL

Sarah Haas:

This is one of my favorite photos of yours. I often use it as my computer wallpaper. It makes me feel like I'm there!

Karen:

How could anyone possibly get tired of a view like that! Sigh, wish I was there. I'll be across the lake in September though!

Thanks for the great pictures.

Karen

Harry Wilson:

Great Shot! Just wondering how late at night was this? I think that I'm normally in bed by the time the pools are empty. You and Scott and Lisa are what I look forward to every time I go to All Ears - keep up the great work.
Harry

Barrie's reply: Harry, I don't remember exactly, but I think it was close to midnite.

Dawn:

Couldn't agree more with you about the pool at Stormalong Bay. Seeing that picture brought back the great time we had there only our last trip.

Sherry Trapp:

I have to totally agree! I recognized it as soon as I saw the picture. We love Stormalong Bay as we just got to stay at the Beach Club this June and it was our favorite!!!

Sarah:

Okay, fantabulous photo aside: why do you say this is the best on-property swimming pool? Inquiring (and overheated!) minds would like to hear more!

Sarah - Stormalong Bay is almost like a mini-waterpark. Here's a description I copied off the Beach Club fact sheet:

There are actually several sections to the pool; the BC and YC sections are separate and different so be sure to try both. There is a deep circular area with jets that push you like a river current around the pool. There is also the larger area where the the water slide empties out (The water slide is not to be missed! but sometimes the line gets long) In addition, the *sinking sand* area delights both kids and adults. There are several 'hot tubs' located in secluded locations around Stormalong Bay . A separate wading pool area (yes with sand) is located near the ShipWreck water slide entrance for small children and includes a kids water slide. StormAlong Bay is over 3 acres large.

Many people stay at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts just so they can use this pool. Here's a link to more photos of this fabulous pool: http://allears.net/acc/g_sab.htm

Becky:

I love night time pix, and this one is fabulous!
Thanx,
Becky*

Bryan Fencl:

I love this shot. I was a lifeguard at Stormalong Bay and loved working there while on the College Program. This picture reminds me so much of my favorite times there.
