Favorite Places To Get A Drink (Wine, Beer, etc) in Walt Disney World

With Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival right around the corner, it got me to thinking about “favorite” places where those of you who enjoy an occasional glass of something stronger than a soda or water go to get a drink. Except for the Magic Kingdom, there are plenty of places, both in the parks and the hotels, where you can purchase wine, beer, margaritas, tequila and other various adult beverages.

It’s interesting to note that I have found that 99% of all the people who I see drinking alcoholic beverages in the parks do drink very responsibly. Because of that I believe that Disney has increased the number of locations selling beer (in particular) to the point that it’s now quite common to see people walking the parks with a glass of beer or wine in their hands. Epcot is the place where you see that the most, however, Hollywood Studios is not very far behind.

Fife & Drum Tavern

Let me start by saying that when I do have a drink I am, almost exclusively, a beer drinker. I will on occasion have a glass of red wine; but that’s a rarity. My wife is not very much of a drinker at all. If she does have a drink it will be white wine, a sangria or a margarita. Since it’s been a long time since we’ve stayed at a Disney hotel, my list is going to be dominated by locations in the parks and non-Disney hotel locations. Anyway, here’s the list of my favorite places to get a glass of beer, wine, etc.:

My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

1) Fife & Drum Tavern (American Adventure/Epcot)
2) Margarita Stand (Mexico/Epcot)
3) Rose and Crown Pub Stand (United Kingdom/Epcot)
4) ESPN Club (BoardWalk)
5) Backlot Canteen (Hollywood Studios)
6) Outer Rim (Contemporary)
7) Bongos Cuban Cafe (West Side/Downtown Disney)
8) Safari Popcorn Kiosk (Animal Kingdom)

As I mentioned, when I have a drink it is usually beer. Also, I’m a fan of Samuel Adams beers. So, the Fife & Drum Tavern is at the top of my list for a couple of reasons. First it sells Sam Adams seasonal beers and secondly it’s across from the American Garden Theater where my wife and I go to see all the concerts. It’s nice on a hot day to sit and sip a beer while watching a great concert. My wife loves the margaritas from the stand in Mexico. A bit pricey, but she says they’re worth it. I also enjoy getting a beer from the Rose and Crown stand and either watching the British Invasion or Off Kilter perform. The ESPN Club is a great place to sit, get a drink and catch up on all the scores. The Backlot Canteen, when open, offers a pretty good variety of drinks and there’s lots of seating nearby. Having worked at the Contemporary Resort it was always nice to unwind at the Outer Rim. Great place to watch the world go by. Finally, my wife loves the Sangrias at Bongos.

OK, I’ve told you mine, now it’s your turn to let me know where your favorite places to get a drink are. Your list can be a long or short as you want and can contain both theme park locations as well as hotels and Downtown Disney locations. Either way, I’d love to hear from you!

You could win an AllEars® baseball cap. I will take all the names of those who post a comment (see below) with your list within the next couple weeks, and I will put them in a hat and randomly draw the name of the lucky winner. In the coming weeks I will blog on more “favorite” things to do in Walt Disney World. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions as to other things you would like to see “top lists” of. I’m open to any and all suggestions. So far readers have suggested I blog on Magical Moments and Favorite Disney snacks, deserts and characters. Great ideas! What do you think? Based on the number of comments, I think you all agree that these are fun to do.

And the winner is: the winner of the AllEars® baseball cap for commenting on my “Where are your special “quite places” in each of the WDW parks” blog is: Jeff Blank from New York. Congratulations to Jeff and “thank you” to everyone who took the time to share their “Where are your special “quite places” in each of the WDW parks” with me and all the loyal AllEars® readers!

I also want to comment on last weeks blog. The most popular tours were any of the Segway tours, Backstage Magic and the Keys To The Kingdom tours. The Backstage Magic tour has been on my “to do” list far too long. I need to take that tour in the near future. Everyone who has taken it raves about the tour. Also, the Segway tours seem like a lot of fun. It’s something I would like to do.

Did you know AllEars® has a huge area called Rate and Review where you can share your dining reviews with fellow readers? Check it out!

Finally, be one of the first people to hear when my newest blogs go live on AllEars.net by joining “DisneyMike’s World” Facebook group.

Well, that’s all for now. As my good friend says, “see ya real soon”…DizneyMike

    1) Most any beer stand in Epcot’s World Showcase – love walking the promenade people watching!

    3) Turf Club Lounge at Saratoga Springs – brings back memories of some special times we had with friends there…
    4) Big River Grille on the Boardwalk…The Pale Ale is fantastic!

    Your comments:

I do find it a relaxing part of our vacation to have a beer either walking around Epcot, or certainly sitting by the pool relaxing. Prices are relatively high, but, after all, it is vacation!

  6. Loved your top places for adult beverages. I am a beer drinker also,
but do enjoy other things on occasion. I actually agree with quite a few of
them, but have a couple of my own to add….
My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Any of the hotel pool cabanas – although I do miss the theme drinks they used to have..I did find they have Yeunling, which is my favorite along with Sam Adams
    2) France Wine Shop, Kir Royale. If they keep raising the price – this will have to be dropped.
    3) Rose & Crown Pub & Stand in United Kingdom/Epcot
    4) ESPN Club (Boardwalk)
    5) Dawa Bar in Africa (Animal Kingdom)

    Your comments:
I totally agree with you regarding responsible drinking. For the most part people are well behaved, but you do see some over-indulgers once in awhile. Nothing is better than enjoying a nice cold beer sitting in the shade and people watching.

  7. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

1)Lounge at the Polynesian-take your tropical drink to the beach and watch the fireworks.
2)Beer Sampler at the Biergarten (Epcot)
    3)ESPN Club cold beer,hot wings,and Disney (a winning combination)
    4)Raglan Road Irish Pub
    5)Norway – Karlsberg beer

  8. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

1)Strongbow cider at the stand outside of Rose & Crown
2)the multi-colored margarita at the stand by Mexio
3)Samual Adams beer – any kind (at the USA pavillion)
4)Safari Amber at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom.
    5) a glass of cabernet savignon in my room!

    Your comments:

    2) no, it’s not the best margarita I’ve ever had, but it’s still tasty, it’s great on a hot FL day, and it even looks like a vacation
    3) – I was so amazed at the blueberry beer they had one year at Food & Wine that I’ll try anything they make now. (There’s a really good pumpkin ale out in stores right now – yum!)
    4) Animal Kingdom seems a lot like Magic Kingdom to me, so it was a nice surprise the 1st time I ate at FlameTree to discover I could get beer to wash down the ribs. It mellowed what could have been a stressful day (my 1st time at AK, and one of the friends I was with was going full-out commando running all over the park to do the “rides” .. I didn’t even see the gorillas that trip!) Everytime I go to AK now I get one with my lunch.
    5) I’ll often bring a bottle of wine with me to Disney. After a long park day and a crowded bus back, it’s nice to free my poor feet from shoes and chill out with a glass of wine. I expect this will be my ultimate favorite now, because after years of staying off property or at the value resorts, we finally took the plunge and joined DVC. Now I can look forward to having a glass of wine in a jacuzzi tub, or on a balcony overlooking giraffes, or looking at the fireworks, or … ahh, pure bliss!

  9. Some of our favorite places for a drink.
1)Crew’s Cup at the Yacht Club
2)Belle Vue Lounge in the Boardwalk Villas
    3)Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios
    4)Victoria Falls at the AKL
    5)Rose and Crown

  10. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)La Cava del Tequila
    2)Port Orleans Riverside
    3)Raglan Road
    4)Beer Cart in Norway
    5)Weinkeller

Your comments:Epcot is clearly the place to get a nice drink. La Cava took the top spot for me because it was where I learned that you should not just drink a shot of tequila blanco, you should get a nice anjeo or repaosado and enjoy it. Port Orleans Riverside has the amazing Abita on draft, something that is not easily found. Raglan road=Irish beer on draft, no further justification needed there. The cart in Norway has Carlsburg, which can be quite tasty on a warm day. Last but not least, the Wienkeller in Germany. It’s a great place to get dornfelder, a good wine for those new to wine and glowwine in the winter.

  11. My favorite places to get a drink in WDW:

    1. Margarita Stand (Epcot/Mexico) – Love them!
    2. Rose & Crown Pub Stand (Epcot/UK) – My husband has been to Ireland many
times, including the Guiness factory. He loves a cold Guiness.
    3. Aloha Isle (Magic Kingdom) – Dole Whips –
Although not an alcoholic drink, I
have to mention this for I have been either pregnant or nursing for many trips
and on a warm florida day, this is very refreshing.

  12. 1)Rose & Crown/Epcot – Guiness!
    2)The Barefoot Pool Bar/Polynesian – Pina Colada!
    3)Epcot/Germany beer cart-Spaten!
4)Mardi Grogs Pool Bar/Port Orleans French Quarter – Abita Turbo Dog!
    5)Fife & Drum Tavern/Epcot – Sam Adams!

    Your comments:
WDW is not necessarily a drink filled vacation, but a nice bourbon drink on your
rooms balcony at any WDW resort (Poly, AKL, Etc.) after a long day in the park
    is very relaxing.

  13. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Rose and Crown Pub
    2)Biergarten

    Your comments:
I like having a nice beer while watching Illuminations from the Rose and Crown Pub. The liter of beer at Biergarten is a very close second (but I do have trouble drinking it and enjoying the buffet at the same time).

As a beer snob it makes me happy to see so many people going for some good beers.

  14. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Beer from Rose and Crown
    2)Carlsberg Beer in Norway

  15. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Yachtsman Steakhouse – great wine selection by the glass
    2) California Grill – ditt on wine selection
    3) Sangria at Mama Mellrose in Studios
    4) Rose & Crown in Epcot
    5) Bar at Wilderness Lodge — very cozy

    Your comments:

I really wish they would rethink the no alcohol at Magic Kingdom. I would love to have a drink at Liberty Tavern or in the castle.

  16. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Rose and Crown Pub
2)Belle Vue Lounge at Boardwalk Inn
3)Tune In Lounge at 50s Prime Time
    4)Biergarten
    5)Dawa Bar

    Your comments:
#1 really is the old Catwalk Bar in DHS above what is now Playhouse Disney. Always one of the quietest places in the park and had some really great beers to go along with that. MANY fond memories of that location…. And the other #1 is Adventurer’s Club at PI. So, really that’s my top seven, starting with #3.

  17. 1)Belle Vue Room – Great bar, Quiet, The radio’s set around the bar play old radio shows. I really hope more people discover the Belle Vue Room. If you are waiting for a table at any of the Boardwalk resturants it is perfect. It is very unassuming. Located just about the Flying Fish Cafe inside the Boardwalk hotel near the elevators.

2)Italy Pavilion in Epcot – the Kiosk out front sells Belinni’s.

3)Dawa Bar in Africa at DAK – Tusker Beer, you can watch the dance show, and there is almost never anyone there.

4)50’s Prime Time Diner – The bar here is great. Friendly Bar Tender. Usually you can walk up to the bar and have a drink and lunch or dinner without a ADR.

5)The Drink Stand outside of the Rose and Crown at the United Kingdon Pavilion at Epcot – have them pour you a snake-bight or a black and tan then go watch off kilter or the britsh invation. Glorious.

Special Mention) Adventures Club – I know RIP. But really it had the best Bar tenders, the best drinks, and the show was awesome. Anytime you can get a drink in a monkey head even better.

Your Comment: There are many factors that go into finding just the right drinking establishment for you. Most of the time it is determined by ones mood. If you want a nice quiet place to get away and sip a drink or if you are looking for an oasis amongst the hub-bub there are tons of place at WDW to have a drink. I always like going down my first night a whatever resort I am staying at and introducing myself to the bar tender there, they will soon become your best friend.

  18. 1- beverage stands at the waterparks
    2- Plum wine (China, Epcot)

Or you can bring a bottle of rum and a bottle of vodka from home (even if you flew), mix them with fountain drinks at the resorts (lemonade, pop) and veg by your hotel pool like we do.

  19. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)La Cava in Mexico Epcot
    2)Rose And Crown Kiosk Epcot
3)Pool Cabana at Coronado or Carribean Beach
    4)Biergarten Epcot
    5)Dawa Bar AK

Your comments: Love the tequila bar this is a great experience and the sangrita is awesome. The Strongbow Cider at the Rose and crown is a great hot summer refreshment. Of course you cant beat a poolside cocktail at the great pools. We love to eat at biergarten and you can get huge glasses of beer that will more than satisfy. And when at Animal Kingdom the Dawa bar is generally walk right up and almost as if noone notices it which is nice because we never have to wait in a line.

I have read alot of blogs and seen alot of complaints about alcohol at Disney especially Epocot and Food And Wine festival. This is an adult event and adult beverages are the main showplace for this event. Thats where the name food and WINE comes from. Disney does a comendable job of policing the rowdiness of the crowd.

DizneyMike replies: Jim, yes the F&W is really the only time you see people drinking too much. But that’s mostly groups that are on a mission to “drink around the world”. But like you said, Disney really does a good job keeping everyone under control….Mike

    2)High Octane (HS)
    3)Rainforest Cafe (AK)
    4)Le Vins de France
    5)Margarita Stand

    Your comments:

Epcot is one of our favorite parks and its variety of places to get a beverage and the variety of choices of beverages are the reasons why (not that we drink too much or anything…) Otherwise, many of the places in WDW have similar offerings when it comes to drinks. For atmosphere, it is very quiet, cool, and comfortable to stop in the Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom, sit on one of the animal shaped bar stools, and have a cool beverage. At the Hollywood Studios, High Octane can’t be beat for its quick service and location. It’s nice to grab a drink and do some people watching.

  22. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Tambu Lounge- Polynesian
    2) Rose and Crown stand- UK
    3) La Cava de Tequila- Mexico
    4) Biergarten or Oktoberfest- Germany
    5) Dawa Bar- Africa in AK
    6) Stand in France with the Grand Marnier slush

Your comments: These are pretty much in no particular order with the exception of #1 which is really my number one…I love Lapu Lapus! The R&C stand sells Stella Artois which we discovered we really enjoyed while watching The British Invasion. The Tequila Cave had a great ambiance and yummy margaritas. Any of the lighter beers in Germany are great. Everyone should try a “Lost on Safari” from the Dawa Bar. And the Grand Marnier Orange Slush and the Lemon Slush in France are soooo good! My boyfriend pretty much just drinks beer, I’m the mixed drink girl and I also enjoy light beer.

  23. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Tambu Lounge/Poly – Lemon Drop Martini!
    2)Rose and Crown
    3)Raglan Road
    4)Wilderness Lodge (any alcove!)

    Your comments:
The Tambu Lounge makes a perfect Lemon Drop Martini every time we go there! My husband loves the sampler of Beers at the Rose and Crown. Happy Hour at Raglan Road is awesome! Get a drink anywhere at the Wilderness Lodge and find one of the peaceful alcoves overlooking the pool area! Great!

  24. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Rose & Crown Pub in the UK Pavilion
    2) Mizner’s Lounge at the Grand Floridian
    3) Martha’s Vineyard at the Beach Club
    4) Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge
    5) Bellevue Lounge at the Boardwalk Inn
    6) Raglan Road in Downtown Disney
    7) Fife & Drum Tavern at American Pavilion
    8) Weinkeller in the Germany Pavilion

    Your comments:
Well Mike, you put 8 selections so I felt I had to do the same. This is a category I can get into! Our photo appears several times in the guest book at the Rose & Crown Pub, so you can tell that is our most favorite spot for a drink. We love to sit and people watch, enjoy a beer, and chat with the friendly publicans. The crowd turnover is frequent, so if you walk in and don’t see a table immediately available, wait 10 minutes and you will. And Pam Brody is a treasure – we adore her! I’m still surprised there are places in Disney World that can be quiet and not crowded, such as the resort lounges I listed. Mizner’s is a must-do for every trip, always before a fabulous dinner at Citricos. And sometimes I think that no one knows Martha’s Vineyard is even there – same goes for the Weinkeller in Germany. And we whole-heartedly agree with you, Mike, about the Fife & Drum. We’re from the Northeast and love that can get a Sam Adams seasonal on draft.

  25. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre: Blue Margarita
2)Kiosk in France: Grand Marnier Slush
    3)California Grill
4)Magarita stand at Downtown Disney Marketplace (love the people watching!)

Your comments: I think that it is very true that the majority of people who choose to drink in Disney do so responsibly. I love being able to enjoy my vacation and relax by indulging in an adult beverage no matter where I am in the world!

    5) Fife and Drum

    Your comments:

There’s nothing better than an Oktoberfest in Germany at the Biergarten. Love the pint mug too!!! My second favorite is the Whispering Canyon. They give it to you in the tall thin plastic container (or they used to) and it’s a nice souvenir to take home and collect change in. We love the Hoop Dee Do for the show, but you can’t beat the unlimited Bud Light. My #4 selection is due to the REAL cherry cokes or vanilla cokes you can get. I’m a sucker for the old fountain drinks with the syrup they put in. LOVE IT!!!! Last, I’ll go with the Fife and Drum. I love me some Sam Adams and this serves as a great refreshment half way around the World Showcase.

1)Les Vins de Chefs de France
    2)Outer Rim Lounge (Contemporary)
    3)Biergarten

    5)The Boardwalk

Ultimately, the slushies at the France Pavillion take first place by a mile, and the others, while good, are relegated to the status of “also-rans.”

  37. 1) Muddy Rivers Pool Bar, Old Man Island, Port Orleans Riverside resort: Captain’s Mai Tai (recommended by the bar tender; always follow the bar tender’s recommendations)

    2) Dawa Bar, Africa, Animal Kingdom: Kenyan Lager, view of Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade

    3) Les Vins de France, France pavillion, Epcot: Beaujolais Village by-the-glass (well, plastic actually), goes well with ham and swiss sandwich from the neighboring Boulangerie Patisserie

  38. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Rose and Crown Pub
    2) Tambu Lounge @ the Polynesian

    Your comments:

I am very fond of the Rose and Crown Pub in the UK. The atmosphere is fantastic and the bartenders know the proper way to to pour a Guinness (a MUST for my husband).

A Lapu Lapu from the Tambu Lounge makes me feel as if I am on a vacation! It’s delicious and I love the dark atmosphere.

I am shocked that so many people said they like the margaritas from the Cantina in Mexico. I have sampled them on several different occasions and just find them unpalatable. Hopefully the new Cantina and Hacendia will have a more pleasing margarita.

At the Wilderness Lodget they have the Lodge Fizz – it is great and very relaxing!!! Scat Cat’s is a great place for appetizers, hurricanes and some jazz. Le Cellier is great for dinner but also great for appetizers and a cocktail. The Cantina has always had great margaritas!

  42. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1)Tambu Lounge
2)Kiosk outside of France-Les Vins de Chefs de France?

Your comments:Both of my choices are dictated by a favorite drink I’ve had there – a Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge, and the Grand Manier Slush at the French kiosk. On our next trip, I’m on a mission to try some different Rieslings, so I may have some new favorites!

  43. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Rose & Crown
    2) La Cava de Tequila
    3) Anywhere along the World Showcase Promenade
    4) Tambu Lounge
    5) Belle Vue Room

    Your comments:
I know we kinda wussed out on #3 there, but there are so many spots that have unique drinks as we are walking around the world, it’s hard to narrow it down to just one! The margarita stand and the slushes in France are the best!

Listening to Pam Brody play the piano in the Rose & Crown with a cold brew and some fresh crisps are always something we can spend an hour or two doing during a day at EPCOT.

  44. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

1)La Cava de Tequila (Jalapeno Margarita)
    2)Biergarten (beer flight)
    3)The Polynesian (Backscratcher)
    4)Fulton’s (Mai Tai)
    5)France (Grey Goose Slushie)

  45. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) La Cava del Tequila (Mexico/Epcot)
    2) Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar (DAK Lodge)
    3) Tambu Lounge (Polynesian)
    4) Rose & Crown Pub (England/Epcot)
    5) The beer cart (Canada/Epcot)

La Cava is completely unique – there’s really nothing else like it in the parks – and the staff (and the snacks) have been exceptional every time we’ve been there. The next couple I mainly associate with waiting for good meals, but they’re all great spots to grab a cocktail. As for the Canada beer cart, we stopped there for a couple Mooseheads last year and sipped them on the little observation deck overlooking the waterfall in the “Rockies.” It was a peaceful little break in the day, even though it may have been a little early for frosty beverages.

  46. My Favorite Places To Get A Drink In WDW

    1) Beck’s (Octoberfest) at Germany
    2) Big River Grille and Brewing Works, Boardwalk
    3) Kona Cafe, Polynesian (Kona beer, of course)
    4) Sitting on our balcony of any of the DVC villas while watching the view.
    5) ESPN Club
    6) Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
    7) Olivia’s Cafe
    8) Beaches & Cream to Go, by the pool

Your comments: My wife and I are beer drinkers and our daughter enjoys having a child’s beverage with us during cocktail hour. Our favorite used to be a liter of Becks while watching the Tapestry of Dreams parade in Epcot. Also, I’m not a big fan of Bud Light but I always find it easy to drink when I’m presented with my own personal pitcher at Hoop Dee Doo. Olivia’s cafe is normally our first night eating spot when we stay at OKW and I enjoy that first WDW relaxing beer.
