Sounds Like Summer Concerts - Stayin' Alive

As many of you know, Epcot is the place for concerts. These concerts take place on the American Garden Theatre stage in front of the American Pavilion.

During the Flower and Garden Festival you can catch the "Flower Power" concerts with groups from the 50's and 60's performing; like Herman's Hermits and Paul Revere and the Raiders. During the Food and Wine Festival you can see jazz and more contemporary groups performing at the "Eat to the Beat" concerts.

However, during the summer months the "Sounds Like Summer" concert series has a line up of tribute bands performing. This years line up include Bee Gees, Eagles, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, The Supremes, U2 and Tom Petty tribute bands. These bands are very, very good and if you are in the area make sure you stop by and listen. You won't be sorry.

The other night my wife and I saw all three shows (5:45, 7:00 and 8:15 PM) of the Bee Gees tribute band called "Stayin' Alive". They were terrific! They played different songs in each of the three shows and they had the crowd rocking to their disco beat.

Following are some pictures I took of the American Garden Theatre (before it filled up) and of Stayin' Alive. Enjoy!

For those of you who are my Facebook friends you'll know that I am upset that the ABBA tribute band Bjorn Again was dropped from the schedule at the last moment. I have to admit that I'm a big ABBA fan and absolutely loved watching Bjorn Again the past couple years. They were my favorite! Not sure what the problem was, but I'm hoping they will be back next year.

Well, that’s all for now. As my good friend says “see ya real soon”….DizneyMike

Hi Mike!

Thanks for the blog! We are coming to visit next week, with the main reason for our visit being the Bon Jovi tribute band. We have seen them the past two years, and are looking forward to the Sounds Like Summer Concert Series again this year!

Hi Mike

I just noticed tonight they dropped the ABBA Tribute Band and have scheduled 52nd Street, the Billy Joel Tribute Band.

Do you think there is foul play? Do we have a mystery to solve? (just kidding).

If you find out, please let us know why they dropped Bjorn Again. We were looking forward to seeing them again.

My wife and I do like Billy Joel so its all good.

Thanks for all the pictures.

DizneyMike replies: Todd, I understand they were dropped because of legal issues. Hopefully they'll be resolved by the 2010 concert series....Mike

CJ:

No Bjorn Again concerts!!!!!!! WHY??????
We saw them perform in '08 and absolutely LOVED it! I'm planning to return to WDW next summer and was hoping to see them again. I'm so bummed....

DizneyMike replies: CJ, we're hoping that by next summer the issues will get resolved so that Bjorn Again will perform. All we can do is wait and see...Mike
