Contributing photographer Jason of disneygeek.com sends us these photos from his trip to the parks on Friday, February 1, 2013.
I arrived at the Disneyland Resort just after lunch and opted to walk to the parks through Downtown Disney. Over at the Disneyland Hotel the walls that were around the end of the Fantasy Tower are all gone and the area cleaned up.
They are still working on the park area where the ice rink was.
Some work going on in Downtown Disney near ESPN Zone.
Looks like they are laying or replacing some piping/conduit maybe.
A temporary stage set up closer to where the ice rink was due to the work going on where the stage usually is.
No real visible progress on the Fossil store.
Waiting to get into Disneyland. The lines were moving rather slowly this afternoon and were backed up beyond the Monorail beam.
The waits around 1:35pm, not bad at all with the longest posted being 25 minutes only.
A quick look over at the Fantasy Faire as it races toward its announced opening date of March 12th. Laura recently had the opportunity to go behind the walls so check her posting for unobstructed pictures or you can visit my full update to see my regular assortment of pictures.
No real visible progress here.
This was the last weekend for the Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue as part of the Limited Time Magic. There were no tickets for later shows of the Revue but was able to walk right in on Standby for the 2:00pm show.
If you would like to see pictures and video be sure to check out my update from January 11th for an extensive look at the show.
This time around I just took a couple pictures and enjoyed the show.
One video clip of Miss Lilly talking about Walt and the history of the Golden Horseshoe then the Can Can!
Not much visible progress from this angle at Big Thunder.
The Cowboy Roundup was just concluding as I entered the Jamboree.
The Billies took the stage a few minutes later.
Moving on to New Orleans Square now. The Bayou Bash has a few more weekends left in its run.
The traditional jazz band making its way through New Orleans, I posted pictures and video in the January 18th update if you would like to see more.
They were working on the Mark Twain into the evening, you could hear the saws after dark as they redo the wood work.
Splash Mountain is down for its annual work.
Went for a cruise aboard the Columbia. Here is a look toward Big Thunder. They have a lot of equipment/tools out for the project. No signs of work going on this afternoon though.
Noticed a time lapse camera set up looking toward the mountain (just to the left of center frame here). Demo work has begun on Rainbow Ridge, in the background you can see the front is gone from one of the facades.
Two of the three Fantasmic light/fountain platforms are being worked on. This is the center one.
This is the one near the Tom Sawyer Island dock (the left most platform when looking at the stage).
Looking back.
Wait times are going up. This was at 3:42pm
Now over to Disney California Adventure. Both sides of Maters were running today.
The one side has a new surface now.
A patch of concrete has been replaced along the parade route.
Over at Fillmores beads have returned.
Flo’s V8 Cafe was closed due to the work.
Lightning making his way through Radiator Springs.
Work continues on GRR as they replace more of the wood along the flume.
For World of Color they had you entering through the front side of the area today.
The bridge received some new logs too.
On my way back to Disneyland passed Chip and Dale.
In Fantasyland the Mad Tea Party is closed for some work.
I was this close to getting a great pictures with several princesses… just a few seconds too slow getting to the area..
I did get some individual pictures..
Small World is closed as the Holiday show is removed.
No real visible progress on the Fantasyland Theater either.
Sleeping Beauty Castle this evening.
Cafe Orleans is closed for some work, but still plenty of guests in the seating area.
Stopped to catch Soundsational in Town Square.
This evening there were three cast members watching the new concrete.
A look down Route 66 this evening.
Two of the three screens as you enter the Blue Sky Cellar had a short loop of Fantasy Faire work now, last visit they still had the old loops playing.
A look at the new loop (I know the quality is terrible… but you can get the drift of what is being shown, the quality is my fault not with the capture).
Wonder if this video will be altered with Tony Baxter leaving WDI.
These Never Tire benches looked new to me. There were three out by the Flying Tires viewing area.
Current movie posters in the seating area for Award Wieners.
Caught World of Color, was in the yellow section I think (there was no real crowd so the far side was open to all).
Just noticed (guessing it changed a while ago) the reserved sections instead of saying preferred or a color now say the dining location on them.
On the way out noticed they had encircled the tram parking area with large plastic barriers.
Guess they do not want guests walking through there anymore.
Hope you enjoyed this highlight tour of the Disneyland Resort. For additional photos and details from this trip you can check out the full Disneyland Update I posted on my site, http://disneygeek.com Also be sure to follow me on twitter @disneygeekcom for pictures from the parks.
