Disney Magic Canada Cruise – Preview

The Disney Magic has been sailing out of the port of New York this summer, and venturing both south to the Bahamas and north to Canada. Lee and i will be on the final Canada/New England Coast Cruise. This is a five-night cruise with stops in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, plus two days at sea.

On departure day we’ll get to sail out of New York Harbor past the Statue of Liberty! I’m looking forward to that.

We’ve heard that both ports are very walkable, so we haven’t booked any excursions. I have to admit that one of the things I am most looking forward to in Halifax is going to the Beaver Tail stand! I really enjoyed those when they were in the Canada pavilion at Epcot.

I am planning to blog while we’re on the cruise – but as always that will be dependent on how good/bad the internet connectivity is.

  1. Hi Laura,

We highly recommend Sugah – an ice cream and fudge store along the harbour front in Halifax and it is definitely walkable from the ship. You can google it to look on the website in advance – everything is delicious.

We all know about your love of chocolate!

Laura replies: Thanks Wendy – I didn’t see this comment in time, and I’m sorry we missed Sugah. Next time!

  2. Oh I am so excited to hear how your cruise is. Hoping they still Cruise to Canada in 2014. Looking forward to your blogs. Maybe to can mention some excursions you heard about while on the ship…TY

Laura replies: We talked to several people who did some of the excursions to Peggy’s Cove in Halifax (there were several versions of it) and they said it was beautiful but a lot of driving. I heard good things about the Hopewell Rocks excursion in Saint John, but it would be nicer on a day that the weather was better. For thrills, some enjoyed the jet boat ride at Reversing Rapids in Saint John.

  3. Laura,

My husband and I will be on this cruise too. We’re really looking forward to this cruise, but all I could talk about last night was the beaver tail stand!

Laura replies: Did you get to try the beaver tails in Halifax? They were good!
