Holiday offerings in Disney collections from Pandora, Vera Bradley, Dooney & Bourke, Vans

Halloween is like a ghost of Christmas past, so bring on Christmas present and the joy of shopping! Some of my favorite brands with Disney collections have revealed their holiday products, so I’m here to tempt you with a look at the goods, or should I say, goodies.

Although I certainly had heard of Pandora charm bracelets, I didn’t realize that I NEEDED one until the jewelry company teamed up with The Walt Disney Company about a year ago and introduced a line of Disney-themed charms. Pandora retailers nationwide offer a robust line, but what really interested me was the collection of Disney Parks charms exclusive to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. They depict the park icons and attractions and make great keepsakes.

Two new holiday charms were released this past weekend at the resorts and also are available online at Mickey Mouse Holiday Wreath Charm and Minnie Mouse Holiday Bow Charm. Each costs $75. Two Limited Edition charms – available only until Dec. 31 – also were released: Mickey Mouse Pavé Charm and Minnie Mouse Pavé Charm. Each retails for $90. The Mickey bead is a sterling silver charm with 37 clear cubic zirconia, 6 micro bead-set and 177 pavé-set black crystals and black enamel. The Minnie Pavé Charm is also a sterling silver charm with 31 clear, 6 micro bead-set, 19 pavé-set red cubic zirconia, 156 pavé-set black crystals, and black enamel.

Two additional charms will be released on Nov. 13 at Disney Parks, but shoppers who use the Shop Disney Parks app can order them on Nov. 6. A bead honoring “Wishes” Nighttime Spectacular at Magic Kingdom and one celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia” make their debut this week. The Fantasia charm is a limited release product and will only be available while supplies last.

Finally, you might also consider the relatively recently released charms for the 20th Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, which depicts Chef Mickey, and the four charms designed for the Diamond Celebration of the 60th anniversary of Disneyland. They all now are available online.

The Disney Collection by Vera Bradley

Last month, Vera Bradley Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Barbara Bradley Baekgaard visited Walt Disney World for the release of two new patterns in the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley. “Mickey Meets Birdie” is a black-and-white pattern with hot pink accents that comes in 10 styles, including the popular Hipster Bag, a Zip ID Case and a Vera Bag (tote).

Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager at Walt Disney World, described on The Disney Parks Blog the inspiration behind the pattern: “Barbara Bradley Baekgaard’s chic home has always been filled with beautiful bright colors, patterns and design pieces – many of which contain scenic landscapes and birds. When Barbara’s first grandson, Christopher, visited her home as a child he would point out all the birds in each room and repeat, ‘Birdie, birdie, birdie.’ One day, after several visits and ‘bird watches,’ Christopher was asked which grandparent he was visiting and he enthusiastically replied, ‘Grandma Birdie!’ The name was quickly adopted by all of Barbara’s 14 grandchildren and family. Barbara loves Disney, so [Mickey Meets Birdie] is the perfect representation of a match made in heaven!”

The second pattern released in October is “Preppy Poly,” and it is offered in Violet and Tango Red. The solid colors have a subtle pattern of the classic three-circle Mickey Mouse shape. Four styles are available: Backpack, wallet, tote and crossbody bags.

Most of the products in both patterns are available at Disney Parks and online.

Dooney & Bourke

Dooney & Bourke, the maker of popular high-end handbags, continues to release new Disney-themed patterns for different seasons and events at Disney Parks. Most recently, three bags debuted at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: a Satchel ($248), Tote ($268) and Letter Carrier ($198).

New Disney Dooney & Bourke bags typically are released for runDisney weekends, as well. But because the upcoming Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend falls during the Food and Wine Festival, these are the only bags introduced. They are available for purchase in the Festival Center at Epcot through Nov. 16. They are not for sale online as of yet.

At the beginning of the summer, Dooney & Bourke also debuted its Disneyland Diamond Anniversary Celebration collection, but the four bags have only recently been added to the online store, in addition to the California parks. Now, more customers can choose from the Letter Carrier, Crossbody Satchel, Shopper and Wristlet styles.

For the fall season, Dooney & Bourke released a new version of its Haunted Mansion pattern that replicates the famous wallpaper inside the attraction. Choose from Crossbody, Crossbody Pouchette, Shopper Tote, Satchel and Weekender bags at Disney Parks and online.

Finally, just in time for Halloween and Christmas, a Jack Skellington pattern was released on Shopper Tote and Wristlet bags, which also are available in parks and online.

Vans, a shoe and clothing brand that got its start in Anaheim, Calif., teamed up with Disney earlier this year to put Disney’s iconic characters on some of its most popular products, including its signature slip-on shoes and backpacks that are loved by skaters. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Disney Princesses, Ariel and Winnie the Pooh made their debut in the initial offering. Now look for 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book characters with a Villains pattern on the way. Products can be purchased at Vans stores or online at

New Disney PANDORA charms and jewelry on sale in March

This week, our friend Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager at Walt Disney World, has released details and photos of a new Disney collection of one of my favorite brands: PANDORA. I'm ready to head up the queue now!

PANDORA released its first Disney-themed collection in the fall. It included 16 Disney Parks-specific charms and a silver bracelet, plus 25 additional Disney charms. The Disney Parks charms -- which are sold only at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and - have been so popular that they have frequently been sold out. (The other Disney charms are readily available at PANDORA retailers.)

On March 12, PANDORA is releasing an additional six Disney Parks-specific charms and a safety chain. In the spring collection, shoppers will find sterling silver dangle charms in the shapes of the two iconic castles -- Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World. Each castle has the resort name on the bottom of the base.

Each resort also will have another charm representing an attraction. For Disney's California Adventure, there is a silver-and-teal charm depicting Mickey's Fun Wheel. For Epcot, there is a silver replica of Spaceship Earth with the monorail circling the sphere.

Additionally, the collection will include a "Minnie Mania" charm, which is the companion to "Mickey Mania" that was released in the original set. Both are colorful, featuring red, yellow, black and white enamel on a silver base. And the runDisney logo will appear on a dangle charm.

Plus, a safety chain - something I was looking for in the original collection - will be available. Each side has a heart bead - one with a Mickey Mouse icon and one with a Minnie Mouse icon. The safety chain is attached on either side of the bracelet's clasp so that if it opens without the wearer's knowledge, the bracelet does not fall off the wrist.

Although prices for the new PANDORA Disney Parks collection have not been released, the pieces are expected to be priced similarly to those released in the fall. Bracelets were listed at $67.50, and silver charms ranged from $45 to $65. Safety chains in the regular PANDORA collection start at $40. (Pieces with gold accents cost more.) Disney Parks-specific pieces can be purchased at Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and at La Mascarade d'Orleans in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, as well as at

When the new PANDORA collection is released on March 12, expect the supply of previously released charms to be restocked online, Miller wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.

And as with the fall release, there will be new Disney PANDORA charms that are not Disney Parks-specific. Among those designs are Cinderella's pumpkin coach, Cinderella's dress and a "Frozen"-inspired snowflake, according to Miller. Those can be purchased at PANDORA stores throughout North America in March, as well as select Disney Parks locations.

Sneak peek: PANDORA Jewelry's upcoming Disney collection

Ladies, if you're like me, this week's news out of Disney Parks has prompted me start my wish list for Santa. In just a matter of days, The Walt Disney Co. will begin releasing its exclusive line of PANDORA Jewelry.

Dates to mark on your calendar include:

Oct. 31 -- PANDORA stores nationwide will release 25 charm designs from the Disney collection.

Nov. 3 -- Locations at Walt Disney World and Disneyland will release 16 Disney Parks-specific PANDORA Jewelry items. (At Walt Disney World, try Uptown Jewelers at Magic Kingdom, Mousegear at Epcot or World of Disney at Downtown Disney Marketplace.) Some of these pieces also will be available online that day at

Nov. 7-8 -- A special release party will be held in Cherry Tree Lane in the Marketplace Co-Op store at Downtown Disney Marketplace here in Florida. (Additional details to be released soon.)

Early November -- Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii and Disney Cruise Line ships also will carry the Disney Parks-specific pieces of the new PANDORA collection.

As if that's not exciting enough, Steven Miller, merchandise communications manager at Walt Disney World, has given us a sneak peek at the bracelets and some of the charms. He wrote, "The image above showcases the new sterling silver Disney Parks "Wonderful World" bracelet, which features PANDORA's unique threading system and a ball clasp engraved with our castle logo."

PANDORA describes its proprietary system this way: "Each bracelet is divided into three segments by small threads. Every charm is equipped with interior threads, which allow for individual placement within any bracelet segment. To hold the charms in place, clips are placed over the middle two threads. The clips are opened by gently sliding one fingernail into the side corner of the clip's crease. To close the clip, simply pinch the sides together. The charms move freely in each segment and rotate slightly with your wrist's movement, creating an undeniably eye-catching and stunning effect."

Details have been released about these new Disney charms:

** Sterling silver Walt Disney World Resort destination charm, which is hand-finished with flush-set cubic zirconia star detail.

** Mickey Mania charm, a sterling silver openwork Mickey charm with red, light yellow, black and white enamel.

** Mickey Swirls charm, which is an openwork sterling silver charm with a Disney Mickey icon swirl design.

** 2015 Edition charm, which is sterling silver and blue enamel with 18 cubic zirconia stones bead-set in star and Mickey details.

** Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat dangle charm, which is sterling silver with blue enamel.

** Disney Cruise Line ship charm, designed in sterling silver.

** Minnie Sparkling Ear Hat dangle charm, which is in sterling silver with 105 pave-set black crystals and nine pave-set, red-cubic zirconia in the bow detail.

Prices have not yet been released for the new PANDORA collection of Disney pieces, which will be hand-finished .925 sterling silver and 14K gold. However, other PANDORA charms range from $25 to $200 apiece, depending on size and materials.

Miller said the pieces in the Disney Parks-specific collection are not part of a limited edition, which means the company expects to sell them for quite a while. In addition, he eased several readers' concerns about whether the PANDORA charms would be compatible with the Chamilia line, which is of a similar style and price range. PANDORA charms will fit on Disney Chamilia bracelets, which were released at the resort in 2005.

In the meantime, PANDORA also has a line of Fairy Tale charms -- a castle, a coach, a fairy, a lion and more -- that would be appropriate on a new Disney bracelet. Looks like many dreams will come true this holiday season!
