Disney Christmas and Dogs Dooney and Bourke collections to be released on Thanksgiving weekend

Two highly anticipated Disney Dooney & Bourke collections will be released next week. The Woodlands Winter (Christmas) design and the Disney Dogs are finally going to be available after they were unveiled over the summer.

The Woodlands Winter pattern will be released on Black Friday, November 24, at Disney Springs. It will be sold at both The Dress Shop inside Marketplace Co-op and at the new Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories beginning at 8 a.m. It also will be released on the Shop Disney Parks app, and at Disneyland that day.

The Christmas collection is the same pattern that was introduced last year, but this season it’s printed on a black background instead of a cream one. It features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse participating in a variety of holiday activities. The scenes are depicted in red, green and white.

The Woodlands Winter pattern comes in three silhouettes of bags: Tote ($268); Crossbody that is roomier and looks more like a satchel ($248); and Wallet that has a long strap to make it a crossbody, too ($178). Usually, there are limits on quantities that each guest can buy, but none have been announced so far. Typically it’s two per style per person.

The Disney Dogs pattern features images of a large group of beloved dog characters from Disney animated films. (It’s being released a year after the Disney Cats version was released, which was really popular and sold out quickly.) The Disney Dogs collection will be released on Sunday, November 26 at Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories at Disney Springs. Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories opens at 10 a.m. that day.

The Disney Dogs collection also will be sold on the same day (November 26) and on the Shop Disney Parks app the following day (November 27).

The bags will be available at four locations at Disneyland on November 26: World of Disney, Disney Dress Shop, Clothier’s and Elias & Co.

Beginning November 27, depending on available stock, the Disney Dogs collection will be sold in the Walt Disney World parks: Uptown Jewelers at Magic Kingdom, Mouse Gear at Epcot, Discovery Trading Post at Animal Kingdom and either Keystone Clothiers or Once Upon A Time at Hollywood Studios.

There are three silhouettes for Disney Dogs: Tote ($268); a Foldover Crossbody ($178); and Crossbody ($248). Based on the names of the bags, it would appear that these styles are the same shapes that were released with the Princess Tiana prints.

Discounts for annual passholder and Disney Vacation Club will be honored at the above stores and on the Shop Disney Parks app. It does not apply to purchases on

Tips for finding and buying Disney Dooney and Bourke, Vera Bradley, Harveys seatbelt bags

Does a made-for-adults 101 Dalmatians purse set your heart racing? This Harveys Seatbeltbag collection was so popular that many of the bags minutes sold out within minutes of being posted online in mid-January.

High-end Disney-themed purses and bags continue to increase in popularity – both those sold in the theme parks and those sold at outside retailers. And the primary and secondary markets don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Three of the most well-known manufacturers of Disney bags – Vera Bradley, Dooney & Bourke and Harveys Seatbeltbags – have been staples at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line for years now. In 2016, Coach and Kate Spade collaborated with the Mouse and debuted new lines.

I have to confess that I’m one of the shoppers fueling sales of Disney-themed Vera Bradley, Dooney & Bourke and Harveys Seatbeltbags. Although I by no means have an extensive collection, I have added pieces over the years. And I love to see the incredible creativity in each new pattern. So, if you’re a new Disney purse sister, here are some tips that you might find useful:

** Harveys bags are no longer sold in the parks, so unless you live near a store in California, you’ll need to order online. Some lines, such as the 101 Dalmatians collection, are only released online anyway. But isn’t the only resource. Be sure to also try and, which also stock the brand. Follow Harveys on social media for sneak peeks of new collections and advance notice of release dates.

** Disney Dooney & Bourke bags are sold at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line plus they can be ordered online at and through the Shop Disney Parks app. Annual pass and Disney Vacation Club discounts can be applied to purchases in the theme parks and on the app. Periodically, and the Shop Disney Parks app offer additional discounts as they are doing now. Both have 10 percent off now through Sunday. And sometimes consumers will find different stock online and on the app, so be sure to check both. For example, is offering a Disney Dooney cosmetic bag for $29 with a $100 purchase. Disney Vera Bradley bags are sold in the same physical and online locations.

** For many runDisney races, Dooney & Bourke releases a new runDisney-specific pattern on three silhouettes of bags. Runners often are invited to pre-order the bags, but they also sell them at the Health & Fitness Expo before each event. (The expos are open to public and you do not have to be running to enter.) When I went to packet pickup at Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, there were still plenty of Disney Dooneys for several days. That’s not always the case, though.

** When Disney decides to retire certain Dooney & Bourke and Vera Bradley patterns, you may see them on sale online. But if you are in Orlando, you also can visit two Disney outlet stores that carry official Walt Disney World merchandise, including these bags. The selection is more limited, but the prices are significantly discounted.

** Popular patterns and prints do sell out quickly, especially for Harveys bags because of the smaller inventory. Recently Harveys posted a survey asking shoppers which Disney patterns they would like to see become a staple in its collections. Follow Harveys on Facebook if you want to take the survey. And cross your fingers for more Disney Harveys Seatbeltbags!

** Some Disney fans choose to use personal shoppers, which largely can be found on Facebook, for their purse purchases. If they can’t be at a store themselves, consumers want people they trust to pick the “placement” on such expensive bags. Disney Dooneys, for the most part, feature patterns with repeating icons, and each person may prefer a different image be displayed prominently. Personal shoppers will search for the desired placement on bags.

** Purse charms are a thing. I had no idea until I joined a private Facebook group dedicated to high-end Disney bags, but, boy, do I love them now. I even gave some as Christmas gifts. Etsy is the place to look for purse charms.

** Finally, although eBay might be the easiest place to buy Disney bags you missed out on, it’s not always the most economical. Many Facebook groups feature sellers of Disney merchandise who are just looking to recoup what they paid, so it might be worth your while to join a few online groups.

5 new Disney Dooney and Bourke handbag prints to debut in November 2016

Disney Dooney & Bourke fans, get your wallets ready! In November, the high-end purse company is releasing not just one, but five new patterns on a variety of handbags. And one of the patterns has a Christmas theme, which is a much-sought-after first.

Beginning tomorrow (Nov. 11), shoppers will be able to purchase the Disney Woodland Christmas Dooney & Bourke bags at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and on the Shop Disney Parks app. The holiday bags feature a retro pattern with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse characters in green and red participating in several traditional Christmas and winter activities, such as exchanging presents, kissing under the mistletoe and sledding on a cream-color background. There also are images of a Disney castle and a mouse-ear Santa hat. The Disney Woodland Christmas pattern will be available on the Tote ($248), the Crossbody ($198) and the Wristlet ($98) pictured from left to right below.

Tip: At Walt Disney World, the Disney Dooney & Bourke Holiday bags will be on sale at the Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs Marketplace. The store opens at 10 a.m. Friday (and daily), but shoppers are expected to line up early.

On Monday, Nov. 14, the new Princess Keys pattern will be released only on the Disney Parks app. The pattern is a pale pink background with a collection of keys inspired by Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel and Snow White. The available bags are the Zip Zip Satchel ($268), the Tote ($248) and the Large Letter Carrier ($198).

On Friday, Nov. 18, there will be a Disney Dooney & Bourke release party at Cherry Tree Lane inside the Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs Marketplace where two new collections will make their debut. The Retro Sticker Collage pattern features images of park attractions and icons, which are always popular. This collection includes three silhouettes -- a Tote ($248), a Large Letter Carrier ($198) and a Wristlet ($98). The Walt Disney World Toile collection also depicts favorite sites at Walt Disney World interpreted in a classic pattern. The Toile collection will have a Hobo Satchel ($248), a Tote ($248) and a Large Letter Carrier ($198).

During this special event, guests will have an opportunity to meet Ian Ray, creative director for Dooney & Bourke, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The Retro Sticker Collage collection also will be released on Nov. 18 at Disneyland.

Finally, on Monday, Nov. 28, a Disney cat-themed collection will be introduced only on the Shop Disney Parks app. The pattern has a pale blue background with colorful Disney characters, such as the Cheshire Cat and Marie from Aristocats. It will be available as a Zip Zip Satchel ($268), a Letter Carrier ($178) and a Pouchette ($158).

Epcot Food & Wine Festival design adorns Disney Dooney & Bourke bags and new Disney Dreaming pattern appears on Vera Bradley bags

Fans of Disney Parks name-brand handbags -- like myself -- will be excited to learn that two new styles are about to be released at Walt Disney World. Today, there's a new look in The Disney Collection by Vera Bradley, and in a little over a week, guests can purchase the new Dooney & Bourke bags themed to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

Beginning at 10 a.m. today (Sept. 19), the new Disney Dreaming pattern will be available on popular Vera Bradley bags in the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney. The floral pattern is done in shades of blue with purple and yellow accents, and it shows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse "dreaming of Disney fun."

According to Steven Miller, Merchandise Communications Manager at Walt Disney World, guests will find Disney Dreaming on some of the most popular bags in the collection, including the Hipster (my favorite!), a Zip ID Case (perfect for business cards) and the Vera Bag (a tote style). Photos on the Disney Parks Blog announcement of the release indicate Disney Dreaming also will be available in the Cosmetic Bag, All In One Crossbody and Mini Hipster styles, as well. Miller wrote that the Duffle and Ultimate Backback will hit shelves in early 2015.

As someone who has purchased quite a few pieces in The Disney Collection by Vera Bradley since it launched in 2013, I would expect the pricing to be the same as other patterns: Hipster, $75; Zip ID case, $15; Vera Bag, $99; Cosmetic Bag, $35; All In One Crossbody, $54-plus; Mini Hipster, $65; Large Duffle, $99; and Backpack, $99. Purchasing limits are in effect for all Disney Vera Bradley bags: two of each style per person maximum. The new Disney Dreaming pattern will be sold online at and at Disneyland later in October.

Miller also revealed that there will be a new Dooney & Bourke design on bags for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which begins today. This is the first time that a pattern has been introduced for the hugely popular festival. It shows Chef Mickey Mouse set among a colorful array of festival icons. The background and straps are black, and the three full-size bags will have a unique leather hangtag with the event logo.

The Food & Wine Festival pattern will appear on the Large Shopper, Crossbody Bag, Satchel and Wristlet styles. Current pricing for these bags is as follows: Large Shopper ($248), Crossbody Bag ($228), Satchel ($268) and Wristlet ($88).

The new Dooney & Bourke bags will be sold exclusively at the Festival Center inside Epcot park beginning Sept. 29. (The Festival Center is located between the Universe of Energy and Mission: SPACE pavilions in Future World.) However, you can get a sneak peek at the bags beginning today in a display at the Festival Center. The collection is not expected to be sold online.
