I Goofed

Hi Everyone,

As anyone who has an email account knows, spam is an unpleasant fact of life. No matter what we do, unwanted email appears in our inboxes – and the Allears accounts are no exception. We get literally hundreds of junk emails every single day. To help keep things running smoothly, everyone on the Allears team pitches in and deletes these unwanted nuisances. For example, I am responsible for deleting all of the spam sent to “The World According to Jack” and I regularly clean things up in my section of the site.

Several weeks ago, I had had a particularly trying day. That evening, I logged onto my Allears account and thought I had selected the “Junk” tab and started deleting what I thought was spam. However, much to my chagrin, I discovered that I was on the “Blog” tab, not the “Junk” tab, and I inadvertently deleted forty of my blogs before I came to my senses. I was mortified. I immediately sent notes to Deb Wills, Deb Koma, and Jack Marshall, our webpage guru. I explained what I had done an apologized profusely. I was assured that they had all made similar mistakes and not to lose sleep over it.

The good news is this; my blogs are still intact on Allears.net. The bad news is we can’t seem to permanently reestablish their links on the Blog Page. But don’t despair. First, if you remember the topic I wrote about, look for it using our Search Engine. For example, if you wanted to find the article I wrote about people napping while visiting the parks, type Jack (to narrow the search to my blogs) and sleep. “Time For A Nap” will be the first listing.

Also, you can use the following links to find all of the blogs I posted from November 2010 to May 2011.

November 2010

December 2010

January 2011

February 2011

March 2011

April 2011

May 2011

I want to thank Jason S. for taking the time to research these links and send them to me.

Take care everyone.

  1. I too thought you were returning – but some Jack is better than none at all. I’ve been filling my world with your World’s archives – starting at the beginning and reading the stuff I never read before. In fact, I panicked that I wouldn’t be able to find your older columns as had initially happened when Dizney Mike left, that I began saving the archived blogs from 2007 (It seemed that your archives didn’t disappear so I stopped saving them). So, if you need any from July to November 2007, I will gladly forward them to you.

Best wishes and looking forward to your upcoming entires!!!!

  2. OMG when I saw this I was so excited; I thought you had come back! I’m glad to hear we can still access your previous blogs though. When I want my disney fix I always make sure I get on here and read an old blog. It’s like a mini vacation for me. Wishing you the best! 🙂

  3. Hi Jack! I got excited when I saw the new blog entry. I was hoping this would be an opportunity to welcome you back. I thought you might be doing an interview with Goofy. LOL!
I just missed you and Deb at the Contemporary on the 8th. (I was in the World on the 6th). I was totally bummed when I read you would be parasailing just days after my visit. I was wanting to meet the 2 of you, and say hi. Thanks to both of you for your wealth of Disney knowledge!!!
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that my husband and I ate at Olivia’s in Old Key West. What a pleasant surprise! If you haven’t tried it lately, consider checking it out. It is Disney’s hidden gem for sure. 🙂

  4. “I was hoping the title of this blog meant “I goofed….and I’m returning to the blog!”

Ditto! I look forward to your (occasional) blogs now with great interest.

  5. Hello Jack,

I share the others posters feelings! I also thought you had goofed and were coming back or that you were writing an article on Goofy! Silly me! Well thanks for the ‘little’ thrill. I find the blogs quiet too now since both you and Disney Mike no longer share your thoughts, points of vues and details of Disney but hey life leads us in many directions right?! Take care and always happy to read you!

  6. I share with Michelle’s comments above…..the blog entries have become a very “quiet” place these days with the departures of Dizney Mike and yourself.
Hope this place becomes lively again!

  7. Yes, I got excited as well thinking you were coming back! Anyway, I’m planning a trip to Disneyland Paris next Spring and I was happy too see those blogs are still there. Thanks again for all of your great blogs!!!! Hope you’re coming to the allears meet on 9/30!

  8. Let’s just say that I am almost in tears right now. I was for sure thinking that Jack had come back to grace us with yet another amazing blog (not that I don’t adore the other blogs also) but then to open it and read that the blogs that he did write before may have been erased I was almost losing it over here. Thankfully we are still able to access the blogs that he did in the past. I need those especially the quizzes, I plan to use them on the long drive from Philly to Disney in October.

  9. Sure do miss ya! Really enjoying the contest with your photos. Think of you often and really miss the resort blogs. Watch the old ones over and over. You did such a great job. Thanks

    Jack’s Answer:

Don’t worry, I will still be writing the Resort Blogs. I’m staying at the Contemporary later this month and will create a full report. And in August I’ll be staying at another deluxe resort for another blog.

  10. I’m glad we can still find the blogs especially the ones about the resort coverage. I thought they had been removed temporarily while the mismatch game was going on since you did a blog like that some time ago (we can’t enter as Canadians but have enjoyed following along anyway).

I hope you are well and I echo Michelle’s comment that you are sorely missed.

  11. I was hoping the title of this blog meant “I goofed….and I’m returning to the blog!” because I am seriously lacking in my Disney knowledge now that you are gone 🙁 No pressure or anything 🙂 I am sure I speak for the rest of the AllEars readers when I say that you are sorely missed.
