New Character Meet-and-Greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In late May, the new Phineas and Ferb meet-and -play and the Winnie the Pooh meet-and-greet opened. I was able to check out these new meet-and-greets recently.

Phineas and Ferb Meet-and-Play

The Phineas and Ferb meet-and-play is located near Mama Melrose’s and the exit to the Muppet Vision 3D.

The concept of the meet-and-play is that Phineas and Ferb are making a movie called “We’re Making a Movie- the Movie.” The director comes out just before the meet-and-play begins and says that they need some more crowd shots for the movie. He asked that everyone act really excited and got the “shots” he needed.

When Phineas and Ferb come out to the set, they play their guitars for a minute.

Once the director is sure he’s gotten the scene he wanted, he announces that Phineas and Ferb have a little bit of time between scenes and can meet some of their fans. The crowd was, naturally, very happy about this news.

Winnie the Pooh Meet-and-Greet

The new Winnie the Pooh meet-and-greet is located in the Magic of Disney Animation building. It’s in the same spot where Lots-O’ Huggin’ Bear was.

The queue is set up to resemble pages from a storybook.

Poor Piglet is stuck in a beehive near Pooh Bear. Every so often, the hive shakes and Piglet tries to escape and you can hear the bees buzzing around him.

Pooh’s backdrop is absolutely charming. It’s straight out of the storybooks. For me, it was like watching my childhood come to life.

  1. Ashley you are rocking at answering all the questions. Can you help me too?!?! I have a little boy that LOVES McQueen and Mater. I read one place that they are gone and another that they are not….Can you please tell me where they are and what all is there/included? Is it now Cars2 Themed? In Hollywood Studios? Help I’m lost LOL!
    Thanks in advance!!!

    ASHLEY:
Hi! Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater are currently greeting guests in their garage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They’re behind the Muppets attraction- near Mama Melrose’s.

  2. Where are Tinkerbell and the fairies currently greeting guests?

    ASHLEY:
Tinker Bell and the fairies have moved to the Adventureland Veranda at Magic Kingdom.

  3. Hi again Ashley! One more question: Is every meet and greet with the Princesses have the Princes now? Haven’t been there since ’09 (had twins last yr) and last time we went they only had Princesses by themselves. I have no pictures of the Princes and now it seems everyone who has gone recently says that there are both? Oh, and thanks, I knew the characters were in Christmas costumes, just didn’t know if there were any other characters special for that time of yr.

    ASHLEY:
Hi! Not all of the princess meet-and-greets have the princes- unless things have changed in the last couple of weeks. Prince Eric has been with Ariel lately and Aladdin is sometimes with Jasmine at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. Beast and Belle might be together at Epcot.

Otherwise, I haven’t seen the other princes out. In years past, the princes (Prince Charming, Prince Philip, etc.) have appeared at the Halloween and/or Christmas parties but, as always, there is no guarantee that will happen this year.

  4. I agree with the villians…. we need the villians! I love The Red Queen and I know the only time you may get to meet them is during Halloween! This year we are doing Christmastime…. is there any meets and greets different that time of year?

    ASHLEY:
The characters, such as Goofy and Pluto, may be in Christmas costumes around the parks. Be sure to check the Times Guide when you get to the parks for the most up to date information.

  5. Which cars characters are available? I remember Mater & McQueen, have they added any new characters?

    ASHLEY:
Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater are greeting guests at the Cars meet-and-greet.

  6. We are going to WDW in October to see halloween party. We have always gone in november after this is over. My son (9) is a HUGE fan of jack skellington (our dogs name is zero) and I was wondering if there is a chance we will see him or get to have a meet and greet?

    ASHLEY:
In past years, Jack Skellington has not greeted guests during the Halloween Parties. Check the guide map when you get to the park, though.

  7. We are going in September…..where could I find out if Meg and Hercules will be anywhere while we are down there??

  8. Hi!!! Is there anywhere to get photos with the Hercules characters?? I now Meg and Herc are in Fantasmic but would like to find them if possible.

    ASHLEY:
They are not greeting guests currently.

  9. Where can we see Lots-O’ Huggin’ Bear now?

    ASHLEY:
Lots-O’ Huggin’ Bear is no longer greeting guests. He can be seen in the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though.

  10. If you want to see the Villains, go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. The BEST selection of characters that I’ve ever seen!!!

  11. Winnie the Pooh is great and all that but there are other places you can meet him. I am so disappointed that they took away the Lotso meet and greet. I LOVE Lotso and was so excited to meet him. It’s really a big disappointment for me that I won’t be able to. My first sad Disney experience.

  12. Maybe Disney’s Hollywood Studios should move Lotso to that place near Toy Story Mania. I saw it during the evening Extra Magic Hours.

The Pooh meet and greet looked cute!

  13. Hi Ashley!

The Pooh Bear is one of my all-time favorite characters. I just can’t wait to see him!
We’re going to see the movie tomorrow.

Thanks for the great blog and pics!

For those wondering why Pooh would be in the spot usually reserved for characters not available elsewhere: if there’s a new movie out, you can count on the characters being there. Disney has no shame when it comes to promoting their movies. Did anyone notice how long the Cars topiaries at EPCOT were left up after the F&G Show ended? Everything else was promptly taken down…but not Lightning McQueen & Mater.

  14. Do you happen to know if there is a meet and great for the villians. I know my daughter doesnt want to see them but I sure do!!

    Thanks!

    ASHLEY:
There is not a dedicated villains meet-and-greet. Some of the villains, though, do make appearances in the parks.

  15. Hello. My granddaughter is a huge “Belle” fan. Where can she be seen and take pictures or give autographs? She’s visiting in September.
    Thanks

    ASHLEY:
Hi! Belle **may** appear at Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom. There is a sign before you enter the queue that will show which princesses are greeting guests that day.

Belle may also appear at the France pavilion at Epcot. She may also be included, but is not guaranteed to appear, in the character dining experiences at Akershus and Cinderella’s Royal Table.

  16. Love the new Phineas and Ferb area! Can’t wait to get back to Disney to get photos with them. How long do they stay out for photos?

  17. The Winnie the Pooh area looks really great, so I’m a little torn because I do also wish that this area was used for characters not available elsewhere. I would guess that Pooh was the pick due to his new movie? Hopefully this will keep changing to reflect the characters for current and new movies that come out.

  18. What about meet & greets with Jake & the Neverland Pirates?

    ASHLEY:
Currently, meet-and-greets with Jake & the Neverland Pirates are not offered. However, they can be seen in Disney Junior – Live on Stage! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  19. Hi Ashley,

Do you know if Handy Manny is still meeting guests? And will Agent Oso ever have a meet and greet? We are going in October and they are my son’s favorite. I know I can do the character dining, but wanted to just meet the characters. Thanks!

    ASHLEY:
Hi! Handy Manny is still greeting guests in the Animation Courtyard (near Disney Junior – Live on Stage!).

Agent Oso can be seen at the Hollywood & Vine character dining (subject to change) but does not currently have a separate meet-and-greet.

  20. Which characters were at the Winnie the Pooh meet and greet? Just Pooh or others too?

    ASHLEY:
It’s just Pooh at the new meet-and-greet at Studios. Pooh friends *may* appear around the Sorcerer’s Hat at Studios. Pooh & friends can also be found at the Magic Kingdom.

  21. Hi Ashley – do you know where I can take my daughters to meet Ariel from The Little Mermaid – she is far and away their favorite princess.

    Thanks!

    ASHLEY:
Hi! Currently, Ariel and Prince Eric are greeting guests in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. Ariel *may* also make an appearance at Cinderella’s Royal Table or Akershus.

  22. Ya gotta love Pooh! What about a meet and greet for the Club Penguin characters? I know they had Bambadee (the blue penguin) and Rockhopper for a short time in Hollywood Studios. Are they still available to meet?

  23. I have noticed Handy Manny is no longer available. My son loves Manny and Agent Oso, I understand you can meet them at Hollywood Vine and Dine but we do not want to do the character lunch. Anyone know if these characters will host meet and greets? We are going in October.

  24. I agree with Andrew. While the backdrop for the new Pooh meet and greet seems nice, I would prefer to see this space for characters not readily avilable. How about an area devoted to the Disney Villans?

  25. What are the meet and greet times on Phineas and Ferb?

    ASHLEY:
    When I was there, it was 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM and 3:40 PM – 5:30 PM.

Be sure to check either the Times Guide or the sign posted at the meet-and-greet, however, for the times during your visit.

  26. Any word on where the characters from UP went? I have my photos with them already, but my grandkids are coming in a few weeks.

    ASHLEY:
The characters from UP are no longer at the parks for meet-and-greets. However, they can be seen in the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  27. Do you know where the new Cars meet-n-greet is now that Phineas and Ferb are where the garage used to be? Thanks!

    ASHLEY:
The Cars meet-and-greet is near the Phineas and Ferb meet-and-greet. It’s near the exit of Muppet Vision 3D and Mama Melrose’s.

  28. I know that spot at the Animation building at DHS is reserved for characters from Disney’s newest animated film, and that is why the Pooh characters are there, but it’s strange to see characters that have always been around in that location, as opposed to brand new ones.
