We've been Tables in Wonderland members for a number of years now. We've been wanting to go to one of the special dining experiences they do for their members but lately, they've been on nights we can't make it. About a month ago, we got an email about the Black Tie, Blue Jeans event taking place on March 5. Since it was a Saturday, we knew we could make it!!
The information for the event asked that we wear a mix of casual and formal such as denim and diamonds, a dress and sneakers, or a tux shirt and jacket with jeans. Mom and I decided to wear denim, a nicer t-shirt, diamonds and sneakers. My brother wore jeans, a t-shirt, a jacket and tie.
The event was held at the Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The Diamond Horseshoe is open seasonally and we had never been inside so this was a treat for us.
Cast Members were outside checking off names and distributing wristbands. One Cast Member told us there were only about 70 attendees for the evening.
They had already roped off the area in front of the Diamond Horseshoe so we were allowed to stand in that area until the doors opened. When they opened the doors around 6:30, music began playing. The musicians played throughout the entire event and they were wonderful. After we were seated, they called up one of the guests to sing 'Happy Birthday' to him.
The tables were decorated casually and formally in keeping with the theme. Everyone was oohing and ahhing as they came in because it looked spectacular. Here's one of the casual tables:
Each place setting had a menu for the evening:
There were two 'signature' cocktails for the evening- the Black Tie and the Blue Jean. I had a Black Tie and it was okay. I'm not much of a drinker so it was, unfortunately, a little lost on me. It was a mixture of vodka, mint, sugar syrup and champagne.
The servers and event managers were dressed in a tuxedo shirt and jacket and blue jeans. They looked fantastic! They all were smiling all evening and really seemed to enjoy the event. Servers came around with hors d'oeuvres. The selections were delicious!
One of the event managers saw my mom and me walking around taking pictures. He suggested we go upstairs for a unique view of the dining area:
The event included reserved viewing for Main Street Electrical Parade. They had roped off the area in front of the Diamond Horseshoe for us. The parade was magical, as always.
When we came back inside following the parade, Cast Members gave everyone a bandanna to wear:
While we were outside for the parade, the Cast Members set up the food and dessert buffets. The dessert buffet was on my way back to my table and these tuxedo strawberries and chocolate truffles looked delicious:
The food looked amazing and tasted even better. The presentation was great.
Jack Daniels and Maple-glazed Grilled Salmon:
Slow-braised Colorado Short Ribs of Beef with Tobacco Onions:
Grilled Baby Corn:
Country Beans with Fried Pork Belly:
Lobster Mac and Cheese:
Free Roaming Chicken with Country Gravy:
Between the three of us, we tried everything on the buffet. We enjoyed everything we had, especially the salmon and the smashed taters. The ribs were wonderful, too. My brother loved the lobster mac and cheese. The food was very warm and fresh and replenished quickly. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked. It was just right.
When we got to dessert, we saw one thing had been added to the table- Warm Chocolate Lava Cake. Yuuuum! The Bourbon ice cream that was served with it was very popular.
This was honestly one of our favorite things we have ever done at Disney World. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was an overall fun event. The Cast Members really seemed to enjoy it as well. The Diamond Horseshoe was the perfect place to host this event. The food was excellent, the Cast Members were so helpful and kind and the themeing was top-notch. The extra touches like the menus and the bandannas were wonderful. We're very happy we were able to make it to this event and plan on making it to future Tables in Wonderland events!
Have a MAGICAL day! :)
