Gingerbread and Holiday Treets Around the "World"

The sights and sounds of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year reign freely at Disney Parks, where tried and true gingerbread treats and other magical displays are coming to life. The pastry teams at Walt Disney World Resort continues its annual tradition of baking some of the most stunning gingerbread and chocolate displays in the country, creating true destination-worthy displays of food as art. For those Disney enthusiasts that only come during the holiday season, to Annual Passholders and frequent visitors to the Happiest Place on Earth, these gorgeous culinary masterpieces are must-see experiences for Guests of all ages.

Life-sized Gingerbread House (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - WDW)

Life-size holiday gingerbread house (with over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread) in the hotel lobby. The Bake Shop uses a classic gingerbread recipe from Austria to make their gingerbread houses, ornaments, and cookies. Gingerbread house decorating demos are conducted in front of the gingerbread house daily. This year, the gingerbread house pin will feature penguins from Mary Poppins and celebrates its 19th year as a tradition at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Life-size Holiday Carousel (Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts - WDW)

This life-size, edible spinning carousel is holiday tradition at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort celebrating its 18th year. Lilo & Stitch-themed carousel horses with coordinating, hand-painted holiday characters join handcrafted gingerbread snowman and snowflakes and spin round and round. This year, 18 hidden Mickeys will be added to commemorate each year of this beloved tradition and the holiday pin will feature Lilo & Stitch.

Cinderella Castle (Disney’s Contemporary Resort – 3rd Floor- WDW – NEW THIS YEAR)

Cinderella Castle recreated in a Mary Blair-style set on an “it’s a small world” backdrop, with oversized gingerbread cookies depicting Cinderella and Prince Charming greeting guests from the Castle forecourt. The 18’ tall display is crafted from thousands of gingerbread blocks, rolled fondant, and modeling chocolate.

Gingerbread African-Inspired Marketplace (Tusker House Restaurant, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park - WDW)

A 3-foot long Gingerbread African-inspired Market Place located at Tusker House Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This sweet display includes 25 lbs. of dark chocolate, 23 lbs. of bread flour, 10 lbs of confectioner's sugar and plenty of holiday spirit!


United States Capitol Building (Epcot, The American Adventure Pavilion - WDW)

This historic U.S. sites comes to life in a sweet way with over 50 lbs. of gingerbread, 20 lbs. of icing, handcrafted chocolate holiday trees, a pond made entirely of sugar and 6 hidden Mickeys. This year, the Lincoln Memorial will make its delectable debut to the display.


Gingerbread Disney Springs Icons (Amorette’s Patisserie, Disney Springs - WDW – NEW THIS YEAR)

Represents the story behind the iconic Town Center at Disney Springs and includes 45 lbs. of bread flour, 15 lbs. of dark chocolate, 10 lbs. confectioners’ sugar, 15 lbs. eggs, 15 lbs. honey and one hidden heart.

Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House (Haunted Mansion, DLR)

This fanciful gingerbread creation features Oogie Boogie, who gets his chance to shine after a 13-year absence in the ballroom, thrilling fans of "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas." The house is six feet tall to the roof point, but the animated Oogie Boogie himself is seven feet tall. The house is made of over 200 lbs of gingerbread, 200 pounds powdered sugar, 4 gallons egg whites, 1 gallon lemon juice, 30 lbs white chocolate, 50 lbs gum paste, 50 lbs of fondant, 1/3 lb of glitter and over 200 hours of Disney Culinary Magic! There are more than 70 bugs “scurrying” across the ballroom table and the ballroom itself. We have been told there might be a few gingerbread bugs that have escaped out of the ballroom … think you can find them?

Robin Roberts Returns to Host the "Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration" with Performances by Jason Derulo, Ariana Grande, Seal, Reba McEntire and more

ANAHEIM, Calif. and LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., (Dec. 8, 2015) -- This Christmas, Disney Parks celebrates not only the joy of the holiday season, but the unforgettable family moments it has helped guests create over the past sixty years. “Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration” airs Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 (10:00 am.-12:00 p.m ET; airtimes vary; check local listings) on the ABC Television Network.

Now in its 32nd year, the unforgettable Christmas special welcomes back Robin Roberts of ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) as lead host. Singer Justin Bieber was in Walt Disney World today, December 3, 2011, to perform a medley of songs from his new holiday album while taping a segment for the "Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade" TV special at the Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World.

Enjoy a D-Lightful Yuletide Season With Disney Institute Holiday Tours

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- With the holidays just around the corner, Disney Institute is offering guests of the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., the opportunity to go behind the scenes of celebrations at various theme parks.

Yuletide Fantasy and Holiday D-Lights, both led by seasoned Disney Institute facilitators, offer guests a special look at holiday attractions and events, including a peak behind the curtain, where production of Disney's holiday season takes place. Yuletide Fantasy is a three-and-a-half hour tour that takes place in the morning and afternoon and costs $84 per person; Holiday D-Lights is a five-hour tour that takes place in the evening and costs $199 per person.

"These tours are great for guests interested in discovering what makes the Walt Disney World Resort a favorite place for families to celebrate the holidays," said Jeff James, vice president, Disney Institute.

Yuletide Fantasy uncovers the origins of holiday traditions as guests travel through the culturally diverse celebrations of World Showcase at Epcot before getting an up-close look at the bows and bells lining Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom. While in World Showcase, Disney Institute facilitators visit Germany, Italy and Japan to demonstrate how each country communicates the story of the holidays. The tour continues to the Magic Kingdom where guests learn about the birth of holiday traditions celebrated in the United States.

The last stop is a backstage visit to holiday services. This department produces and stores holiday decor for all Walt Disney properties on the East Coast, including two Disney Cruise Line ships. Guests are able to see the scope of Disney's holiday operations and how thousands of decorations are used.

Holiday D-Lights journeys through the history of Disney traditions, with visits to Epcot, the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Each location's interpretation of holiday lighting is showcased, kicking off with priority viewing for Epcot's Candlelight Processional. This event features the story of Christmas retold by a special celebrity narrator and is accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and a mass choir. The next stop on the Holiday D-Lights tour is to the Magic Kingdom, where guests experience Cinderella's Holiday Wish before watching her castle illuminate with more than 200,000 LED lights.

Before traveling to Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests will be treated to a light meal while marveling at the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Lastly, guests get a behind-the-scenes look at how Disney creates holiday lighting displays while visiting decorating support. This unique department coordinates all of the lighting logistics for the entire Walt Disney World Resort.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. / ANAHEIM, Calif. (Dec. 4, 2009) - 'Tis the season to be merry at Disney parks when the 26th annual "Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade," featuring award-winning musical talent and iconic stars performing in this year's television special, airs Dec. 25 on ABC-TV.

This year's show promises to dazzle viewers with must-see performances by Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder. Pop sensations the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato spread joy to all as enchanting sounds from world-renowned musical artist Yanni and his Yanni Voices echo through the park. "American Idol" Season 8 winner Kris Allen will perform and "Wizards of Waverly Place" star Selena Gomez will make a special appearance in the annual telecast.

From the newest Disney princess - Tiana - to Mickey Mouse and all his 'toon pals, beloved Disney characters will embrace the holiday spirit aboard awe-inspiring floats that "deck the halls" as they glide through the Disney theme parks.

Two of television's most popular celebrities will appear as the hosts of this year's program. From Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, popular morning show personality Kelly Ripa returns as host, doubling her duties while partner Regis Philbin recovers from recent surgery. At Disneyland Park in California, worldwide television and radio host Ryan Seacrest takes center stage for the West Coast festivities. The two-hour televised special will air nationally in high-definition Dec. 25 on ABC-TV at 10 a.m. Eastern and 9 a.m. Central, Mountain and Pacific times.

'Tis the Season to Give Back: 'Give a Day, Get a Disney Day' in 2010

The season of giving has a special meaning this year as Disney Parks' nationwide volunteer initiative, "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day," is slated to kick off soon after the holidays. To celebrate volunteerism, Disney Parks will give a free, one-day admission to a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park to 1 million people in the United States and Canada who perform volunteer service with a participating organization starting Jan. 1, 2010.

While parents and children prepare to offer their day of volunteer service in 2010, two families will share their encouraging stories during the parade telecast of how they've made a difference by volunteering in their hometown communities, the inspiring motives that moved them to give back and the lessons their children have taken with them along the way.

Throughout the telecast, chart-topping talent and award-winning artists from around the world come together to share in the Christmas merriment at Disney parks.

* The star of the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place," Selena Gomez, makes a special appearance amidst the festive magic at Disneyland park.

* Tony Award-winner Anika Noni Rose, voice of Princess Tiana from the new Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film "The Princess andthe Frog," performs a musical production inspired by "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee." During the number, she will be accompanied by Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke, two of the dancers from ABC's hit show "Dancing with the Stars." The musical, Mardi Gras-style celebration takes place in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
