LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Nov. 5, 2009 -- Glimpsing into the future, Walt Disney World Resort today provided new details about ongoing efforts to re-imagine Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex with the ESPN brand.
With an expected grand re-opening on February 25, several signature ESPN elements will be added throughout the 220-acre facility, providing new entertainment and immersive experiences for guests and athletes. As part of the plan to take youth sports to a new level, the soon-to-be named ESPN Wide World of Sports will include:
* 20 video screens, including two JumboTrons that will include customized videos, highlight reels featuring the daily competitions and interviews involving ESPN sports personalities.
* A new 2,500 square foot state-of-the-art broadcast center with eight edit bays and a direct uplink to ESPN in Bristol, Conn.
* A new ESPN Innovation Lab facility where the ESPN Emerging Technology Group will develop ground-breaking on-air products and test them with the hundreds of sports events and athletes at the complex.
* A redesigned and renamed ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill, a sports-themed eatery with high-definition TV screens and live radio remote capabilities.
* Complex-wide audio system.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – If you think photo-realistic art is across the spectrum from abstract art and “ne’er the twain shall meet,” then you haven’t seen the works of Jeannie Maddox, an artist from Dothan, Ala., who has been making Disney’s Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort a kind of home-away-from-home virtually every fall since 1975.
When the 2009 Festival of the Masters presented by Sharpie takes place Nov. 13-15, Maddox will be among the nearly 150 award-winning artists who will be participating. Some work in clay. Others wood, metal or mixed media. Others watercolors.
Maddox’s specialty is oils on canvas. And while she depicts her style as “photo realistic,” her husband, Sam, isn’t quite sure that’s an accurate description. “She’s an abstract painter who paints realistically,” he says.
To explain: Maddox’s topical passion is swimmers – in the water. Thus, reality is a visually distorted view of the body beneath the surface, with ripples and bubbles adding to the abstract quality of the painting.
As she has done 32 previous years – including the very first Festival of the Masters in 1975 –Maddox will be showing off her works at Downtown Disney. Virtual Porthole
The Disney Dream carries on the spirit of innovation with a cruise industry first for all inside staterooms: Virtual Portholes that offer a “window” to the world with a real-time view outside the ship, corresponding to stateroom location – either port or starboard. High-definition cameras placed on the exterior of the ship feed live video to each Virtual Porthole.
As guests are observing the impressive outside views, they may glimpse a magical surprise. Periodically, animated Disney characters may pop by the Virtual Porthole. Characters may include Peach the starfish from the Disney•Pixar film “Finding Nemo,” a haunted pirate ghost ship or even Mickey Mouse.

The Disney Cruise Line signature bath-and-a-half design is featured in nearly every stateroom on the Disney Dream. Conveniently, one bathroom includes a vanity, sink and full tub/shower, while the “half” bath has a vanity, sink and toilet.
Both luxurious and practical, a number of staterooms have round tubs with a built-in seat, a rain shower head and a hand-held shower – perfect for giving children a bath.
Recognizing that families tend to travel with more luggage, Disney Cruise Line elevated bed frames to provide generous under-bed space to store suitcases and other items.
For an added pinch of pixie dust, pull-down beds open to uncover a celestial scene overhead. Spanning the entire ceiling directly over the bed, original artwork depicts an enchanted tableau of Peter Pan, his fairy pal Tinker Bell and Wendy soaring through the night sky.
Staterooms on the Disney Dream feature a contemporary, Art Deco-inspired design. Remarkable attention to every detail is evident in the elegant nautical theme with beautiful wood finishes, custom fabrics and carpets, stylish furnishings, original artwork, crown molding and genuine teak accents.
First-class features and amenities in all staterooms include a 22-inch LCD flat screen TV on a swivel arm, iPod docking station, roomy closets, mini refrigerator, full-length mirror, mini safe, premium toiletries, plush bath towels, fine bed linens and feather duvets.
Suites
The Disney Dream has 21 suites, each lavishly appointed and designed with upscale furnishings. Most suites can connect to another stateroom, creating an exceptionally spacious living area for larger groups and families.
Each suite has two bathrooms designed with opulent granite and marble finishes. The master bathroom features a whirlpool bath tub, a rain shower, double sinks and a television built seamlessly into the mirror.
Suites have a generous private verandah, walk-in closet, living room and Blu-ray disc player. Both the living area and master bedroom have a 42-inch, high-definition LCD television.
Suite amenities include deluxe bed linens, feather duvets, plush bath towels, sublimely soft bath robes and slippers. Suite guests may choose from a selection of hypo-allergenic, goose down and therapeutic memory foam pillows.
Disney Cruise Line’s signature royal suites – the Walter E. Disney Suite and the Roy O. Disney Suite – are located at Deck 12 forward of the Disney Dream. The Concierge Lounge is located among the concierge suites on Deck 12. The ship’s exterior color scheme matches the iconic Mickey Mouse with a black hull, bold red funnels and vivid yellow striping and lifeboats. Small touches, such as silhouettes of Disney characters scrolled into the cruise line’s signature yellow filigree ornamentation that stretches from bow to stern, are subtle reminders that this is one of the most magical ships at sea.
Carrying the modern classic design inside, the elegant interior décor on the Disney Dream is influenced by the Art Deco style with a dash of Disney whimsy.
Atrium Lobby
For guests sailing on the Disney Dream, the magical voyage begins upon entering the expansive three-deck atrium lobby. Reminiscent of splendid ocean liners from 1920s and 1930s, the stylish sophistication of the atrium is highlighted by a sweeping grand staircase, oversized portholes and stunning, three-story fluted columns with glowing capitals. An exquisite marble floor inlaid with an intricate Art Deco pattern and hand-tufted custom rugs in rich blues, reds and golds span the atrium floor and staircase.
Decorative bronze friezes featuring Disney characters line the balconies, and a keen eye may notice Disney characters in the bronze balustrade rising up the grand staircase. Panoramic elevator columns that face into the atrium feature elaborate metal work crafted in an Art Deco pattern with a hint of a familiar Mickey Mouse outline.
Opulent furnishings complement the atrium design, with a grand piano providing atmosphere, Original art work in bronze, bas relief and tile mosaics add elegance. Overhead, a dazzling chandelier, more than 13-feet wide and descending more than 13 feet from the ceiling, sparkles with hundreds of hand-crafted crystal beads.
The Disney Dream atrium lobby would not be complete without an iconic Disney character statue. Cast in bronze and standing nearly 5-foot tall atop a marble pedestal, Admiral Donald Duck graces the Disney Dream atrium lobby.
Enchanted Art
Around the atrium lobby and throughout the Disney Dream, Enchanted Art immerses guests in Disney storytelling in a completely new way. A special surprise that only Disney could deliver, Enchanted Art magically comes alive as guests pause to admire individual art pieces. For instance, a piece of art that appears to be an animation cell from the Disney classic film “Bambi” springs to life as Bambi’s friends Thumper and Flower scamper and a butterfly flits through the scene. Another piece, featuring a vintage photo of Walt Disney at his drawing board, creates a magical moment for guests as the character Walt is creating becomes animated.
Enchanted Art looks like other hanging art pieces around the ship but is actually a framed LCD screen with technology that recognizes a guest is present. As a guest stops to view a piece of Enchanted Art, several seconds of animation in the picture are activated. Guests may see new and different animation as they come back and visit the Enchanted Art another time.
Lobby Café & Bar
Two venues extending off the atrium provide the perfect respite for guests gathering in the atrium lobby for activities or to socialize prior to evening events. Mirroring the Art Deco style and rich wood tones of the atrium lobby, the Bon Voyage lobby bar on Deck 3 is a central gathering place for guests looking to relax and sip a refreshing beverage before heading off to various onboard activities. The Vista Café on Deck 4 overlooks the atrium and provides great views outside. It is an ideal place for families to come together, enjoy a quick snack, latte, espresso, cappuccino or cup of herbal tea. A nearby seating area features a series of portholes, providing breathtaking vistas out to the sea.

The chic setting is metropolitan sky bar-meets-luxury high-rise penthouse, complete with a digital fireplace. Lustrous woods and metal finishes are the backdrop to the seven 65-inch LCD screens that depict a different locale each day.
Skyline’s “windows to the world” are ever-changing as the spectacular city skylines transform from day to night, in real time as each day progresses.

Pink
Elegant and upscale, Pink is an intimate cocktail bar serving top-shelf wines and liquor as well as the bubbly beverage of choice…champagne. Inspired by French art nouveau style and characterized by flowing, fluid forms, the entire venue makes guests feel as though they are immersed in a bottle of France’s finest.
As guests sip some of the world’s preeminent champagnes, sparkling wines and proseccos, they are enveloped in the enchanting, playful feel of the venue. Back-lit inset glass “bubbles” covering the walls create the effect of cascading, effervescent champagne. The famous pink elephants from the Disney animated classic “Fantasia” appear to dance in the bubbles.
A feature wall behind the bar with dew-drop shaped glass in pink and gold gives the impression of champagne bottles bursting with bubbly. Light fixtures of sculpted glass are reminiscent of champagne flutes, bar chairs seem as if they are made from sparkling glass and designs along the bar fascia resemble the cage around the top of a champagne bottle.
Pink is the ideal setting for a pre-dinner apéritif or late-night toast…and all romantic moments in between.
Evolution
The premiere venue in The District and the main club for adult guests, Evolution brings a piece of big-city nightlife to the high seas. Inspired by the evolution of the butterfly, the design is contemporary with an edge.
Butterfly wing patterns on the walls and trails of light effects along the ceiling impart the feeling of butterflies in flight. Pulsing to the beat of the music, lights lead guests to the heart of the club – a dynamic, lighted dance floor that changes with the intensity of the music and a colorful butterfly-shaped feature light on the ceiling above.
The bar is backlit and features strata of layered acrylic and glass in vibrant, translucent tones of orange, yellow, green, pink and purple. Tiered, banquette seating wraps around the perimeter of the room, providing an excellent view of the entire club, the stage and the dance floor. This will be the primary venue for large-scale evening events such as comedy acts, cabaret shows, themed dance parties, live musical performances and other entertainment just for adults.
Metro Pub
Adjacent to The District, Metro Pub is a warm and welcoming environment – a modern interpretation of a traditional pub. Rich detail, wood finishes, a stamped-metal ceiling, modern furnishings and soft leather chairs comprise the stylish décor. Two banquette seating niches, each with its own LCD screen, are hideaways for small groups of four or five.
The casual setting is perfect for guests to kick back and watch live sports and major broadcast events on one of several flat screen televisions, including a 103-inch plasma screen with digital surround sound.
Metro Pub will be the location of choice for beer-lovers, serving a wide range of international and domestic brews along with a full selection of fine wines and cocktails. A friendly pub master will serve as host at Metro Pub and lead guests in a variety of interactive games and activities.

While guests “rotate” through different restaurants for dinner, their servers accompany them. Thus, guests enjoy a variety of dining experiences with friendly, familiar, personalized service.
Animator’s Palate
On the Disney Dream, Animator’s Palate is a re-imagined version of the signature Disney Cruise Line restaurant that brings the magic of Disney animation into the dining room for a one-of-a-kind experience that will captivate the entire family.
Inspired by classic animator’s studios, the venue is filled with character sketches, maquettes (three dimensional character models), paint brushes, colored pencils, computer work stations, film strips and other tools of the animation trade. Scenes and characters from popular Disney and Disney•Pixar films adorn the walls.
Spanning from floor to ceiling are “paint brush” pillars and “pencil” columns. Depicted in relief on the ceiling are abstract, oversize artist’s palettes and light boxes. During dinner, sparkling lights travel up the columns, through fiber optic brushes to “paint” the artist’s palettes with vibrant colors.
The cuisine will match the character of the restaurant, creatively combining fresh flavors with culinary flair to please guests’ palates. Wines from California and the Pacific Rim will complement the menu.
Royal Palace
Royal Palace is an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films “Cinderella,” “Snow White,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty.” Disney Dream guests feel like royalty as they are immersed in the lavish surroundings of this venue.
Splendid décor includes ornate marble floors and luxurious carpets plus a magnificent, hand-blown chandelier made of glass slippers, with essential elements from each fairy tale such as royal crests, roses and tiaras. Chair backs are embellished with gilded emblems in the same motifs. The custom carpet is a pattern of flourishing roses in regal tones.
Grand, hand-painted portraits of the princesses – Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) – and their princes grace the far wall. Portholes providing spectacular views of the ocean are framed with majestic, tiara-topped window valances.
With meticulous attention to detail, many of the restaurant’s features are modeled precisely from the inspirational films. The Royal Palace’s circular floor plan, fluted columns and iron railing work are all recreated from the “Cinderella” ballroom scene. Wall sconces are fashioned after those seen in “Beauty and the Beast.”
At Royal Palace, guests will feast on a world-class continental cuisine. The menu will include dishes fit for a monarch, including beef Wellington, crowned rack of lamb, king salmon and princess cake. The wine list will feature an excellent selection of Old World wines. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at this restaurant.
Enchanted Garden
Enchanted Garden is a whimsical, casual restaurant inspired by the gardens of Versailles. It features a dining environment that magically transforms from day to night.
Upon entering Enchanted Garden, guests will feel as though they’ve arrived at a lovely conservatory, with white trellises, original artwork depicting lush greenery, and the image of a beautiful blue sky on the ceiling above.
Abundant, custom glass “flower” light fixtures suspend from the canopy overhead, ornamental light posts line the restaurant’s center promenade and a charming terrace fountain is the focal point of the room. The cascading fountain rises seven feet tall and at its pinnacle stands a fanciful cherub Mickey Mouse statue.
During the meal, the restaurant transforms into an enchanting evening scene. The sky overhead becomes a glorious sunset, with dazzling colors and shades of light that change into a twinkling field of stars. The light fixture flowers “bloom” and become infused with color, wall sconces open to become beautiful folding fans, paintings are illuminated in a nighttime perspective and the centerpiece fountain is basked in shimmering light.
The cuisine will match the crisp and airy feel of the restaurant with a seasonal menu featuring market-fresh ingredients. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style and dinner is a full-service, plated affair. A scrumptious selection of desserts includes a selection of gelatos during the day and a grand finale chocolate display with infused truffles and hand-made confections at night.
Casual Dining
Cabanas
Disney Cruise Line will introduce a new concept in casual dining with Cabanas food court, a free-flow restaurant featuring a variety of food and beverage stations.
Inspired by California beaches with uniquely Disney touches, Cabanas offers indoor and outdoor dining on Deck 11 aft with incredible ocean views. Across the beach-themed dining room, tables are sheltered under palm trees and beach umbrellas. Surf boards, sun umbrellas, kites, teak Adirondack chairs and clam shell table tops add to the sunny seaside décor.
Disney details also decorate the area, including a familiar flock of seagulls from the Disney•Pixar animated film “Finding Nemo.” A 30-foot-long, hand-crafted mosaic tile wall depicts a whimsical underwater scene from “Finding Nemo.”
Guests can partake in an eclectic array of cuisine served from 16 specialized food stations, each designed like a beach cabana with colorful awnings and providing delicious offerings.
Dishes freshly-prepared include American classics, comfort foods such as pizza and pasta, grilled specialties, stir-fry, savory soups and fresh salads. One cabana will feature a skilled sushi chef preparing bite-sized sushi delicacies. To satisfy a sweet tooth, another station will showcase an artful display of decadent desserts. Each morning, Cabanas will feature numerous flavorful ways to start the day with assorted breakfast foods and made-to-order omelets.
In the evenings, the restaurant transforms into a table-service casual dining experience, where dinner entrees are cooked to order.
Flo’s Café
Guests looking for a quick bite to eat can visit Flo’s Café, located near the Donald Family Pool on Deck 11. Themed to popular characters from the Disney•Pixar film “Cars” – Luigi’s Pizza, Doc’s Grill and Fillmore’s Favorites – this quick-service option serves snacks such as burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, fresh fruit, salads and sandwich wraps.
Eye Scream, Frozone Treats
Frozen sweet treats are available from two quick-service venues conveniently located near the Donald Family Pool on Deck 11. Frozone Treats – named after the ice-creating superhero in the DisneywPixar movie “The Incredibles” – mixes delicious fruit smoothies. Eye Scream – inspired by the friendly, one-eyed monster Mike Wazowski from the Disney•Pixar animated feature “Monsters, Inc.” – offers soft-serve ice cream with plenty of favorite sundae toppings.
Onboard Disney Dream, the newest ship in the Disney fleet, the celebration of children’s creativity and dreams rises to a new level with extraordinary youth spaces designed to inspire, entertain and spark the imagination of children in nearly an entire deck created just for them.
Disney’s Oceaneer Club
Disney’s Oceaneer Club on the Disney Dream is a child-friendly oasis that transports kids to the magical lands of Disney fairies, friendly monsters, adventuresome toys and undersea exploration. Disney’s Oceaneer Club is open to 3-to-10-year-old children.
The central rotunda, with a whimsical Peter Pan’s Never Land motif, is the main gathering place and hub of Disney’s Oceaneer Club. Constellations of Disney characters created with fiber optics twinkle across the ceiling, and iridescent finishes give the room a sparkling glow. The focal point of the rotunda is a stage where children can create and star in their very own theatrical performances, participate in storytelling sessions and delight in meeting Disney characters such as Tinker Bell and Peter Pan.
The Disney's Oceaneer Club's rotunda has a 103-inch plasma screen for watching movies and for magical interactions with a "most excellent" live character: Crush, the animated sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar animated motion picture "Finding Nemo," stops mid-stream in his digital undersea environment to chat, play and joke with kids in live, unrehearsed conversations. Sometimes using silly props and joined by this "Finding Nemo" friends, Crush amazes and entertains "little surfer dudes" during real-time, personalized appearances that showcase his most-excellent personality. These one-of-a-kind experiences with Crush continuing Disney's legacy of bringing characters to life in new and incredible ways.
In Andy’s Room, the world of the Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” films comes to life. Inside the vibrantly-colored room, kids experience the feeling of being toy-sized as they play among larger-than-life characters from the animated film. Children can rearrange features on Mr. Potato Head, crawl through the coiled body of Slinky Dog and get behind the wheel of an oversize, remote-controlled race car.
Monster’s Academy is a fun, interactive space inspired by the DisneywPixar film “Monsters Inc.” The centerpiece is an elaborately-themed play structure for climbing that is fashioned after the film’s scare floor, where monster pals Michael "Mike" Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan work. Computers integrated into the walls feature unique, interactive games. For kids who want to become a monster, there is an assortment of monster costumes and props.
In Pixie Hollow, children are transported to the enchanted land inhabited by Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. A pixie tree stands in the room, its branches extending overhead with hundreds of fairy lights twinkling among the leaves and hummingbird-sized fairy houses hanging from the boughs. In this magical forest setting, children can make crafts just like a true tinker fairy while sitting on stools shaped like acorns and mushrooms, or dress up in fanciful costumes.
Explorer Pod is inspired by the Disney•Pixar animated film “Finding Nemo.” Surrounded by a seascape and seeming to emerge from a pool of water, a bright-blue-and-yellow submarine surfaces in the center of the room. Inside, children can explore and play games at 16 interactive computer stations. Outside of the sub, eight computer stations provide gaming fun as the familiar flock of seagulls from “Finding Nemo” looks on.
Disney’s Oceaneer Lab
Disney’s Oceaneer Lab on the Disney Dream takes children on a journey of discovery and exploration. Disney’s Oceaneer Lab is open to 3-to-10-year-old children.
Upon entering the main hall, children feel as though they are embarking on a great adventure. Rich woods, brass fixtures and deep blue and red tones complement the room’s seafaring details such as maps, maritime instruments and nautical artifacts. An illuminated celestial map of constellations glows overhead. At the main hall stage, kids can create and star in swashbuckling performances, hear stories of great expeditions and watch movies.
Utilizing the same techno-magic that brings Crush to life in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Disney’s Oceaneer Lab features special scheduled visits by Disney’s mischievous animated alien Stitch. Playful pandemonium ensues as he engages with children in unrehearsed antics. From his spaceship, the cuddly but naughty alien interacts with young guests, chatting with them and using props from his spacecraft surroundings to create hilarious fits of havoc. Encounters with Stitch may include an Elvis Presley impersonation or some crafty chaos and will always entertain with extraterrestrial charm.
The Animator’s Studio draws out the character inside all kids. Incorporating elements from both classic and modern animator’s studios, the room is filled with maquettes (three-dimensional character models), animation books, a light box table, drawing accessories, computer stations and other tools of the animation trade. Children can use their imagination to create original, hand-drawn art or learn how to sketch their favorite Disney character. With the help of a counselor and an animation simulator, kids can bring to life computer-animated characters.
The Sound Studio is designed for children who appreciate and are inspired by music. Kids who dream of being a musical star can create their own original tunes using special song-making software. After composing their music and lyrics, they can record their hit. The Sound Studio also has listening and music download stations featuring top hits and current recording artists.
Connecting the Disney’s Oceaneer Club and the Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are two Workshops. In these specialized areas, kids concoct creations in an interactive science lab, conduct crazy experiments, express their creativity through art projects, stretch their culinary skills and participate in other hands-on activities.
It’s a Small World Nursery
In the It’s a Small World Nursery, infants and toddlers ages three months to three years enter a whimsical world inspired by the classic Disney theme park attraction and original artwork by Disney Legend Mary Blair. The theme’s signature fanciful style in a patchwork of pastel colors creates an inviting and comforting space for little ones.
Upon entering the nursery, parents and children can meet and interact with counselors in a welcoming environment. Parents wishing to check on their children, without disturbing them, can glimpse into the nursery’s main play area through a one-way window.
In the nursery’s main play area, children are welcomed by cheerful, three-dimensional façades resembling the nursery’s namesake Disney attraction. Interactive, hands-on features such as horns that honk, wheels that spin and buttons to press are sure to delight curious kids. A boat in the center of the room “floats” on a river pattern along the soft-surface floor and is surrounded by colorful, kid-sized tables and chairs for toddlers to enjoy crafts, books and games.
At the back of the nursery, a separate room with a serene motif and a calm, quiet atmosphere is reserved for naptime.

Disney Cruise Line debuts the first-ever shipboard water coaster, AquaDuck, an exhilarating high-speed flume ride featuring twists, turns, drops, acceleration and river rapids.
AquaDuck combines the thrill of a coaster with the splashing fun of a water slide. It begins with a rush as riders slide through a “swing out” loop over the side of the ship. In the loop cantilevered from the side of the ship, guests are surrounded only by a crystal clear acrylic flume that provides a thrilling, unobstructed view of the ocean surface…150 feet below.
Utilizing some of today's latest water coaster technology, the excitement amplifies as riders experience the up-and-down sensations of a coaster. High-powered water jets accelerate guests upward and forward at a surging speed of about 20 feet per second.
Guests whoosh through the forward funnel, then glide along a stretch of river rapids, providing a stunning panorama of the ocean and the ship’s upper decks before a splashdown on Deck 12.
Enchanted Art
Around the atrium lobby and throughout the Disney Dream, Enchanted Art immerses guests in Disney storytelling in a completely new way. A special surprise that only Disney could deliver, Enchanted Art magically comes alive as guests pause to admire individual pieces. A work of art that appears to be an animation cell from the Disney classic film “Bambi” springs to life as Bambi’s friends Thumper and Flower scamper and a butterfly flies through the scene. Another piece, featuring a vintage photo of Walt Disney at his drawing board, creates a magical moments for guests as the character Walt is creating becomes animated.
Enchanted Art looks like other hanging art pieces around the ship but is actually a framed LCD screen with technology that recognizes a guest is present. As a guest stops to view a piece of Enchanted Art, several seconds of animation in the picture are activated. Guests may see new and different animation as they come back and visit the Enchanted Art another time.
Virtual Porthole
The Disney Dream carries on the spirit of innovation with a cruise industry first for all inside staterooms. Virtual Portholes offer a “window” to the world with a real-time view outside the ship. High-definition cameras placed on the exterior of the ship feed live video to each Virtual Porthole. The live video feed corresponds to the stateroom location – either port or starboard and position on the ship, from bow to stern.
As guests are observing the outside views, they may glimpse a magical surprise: animated characters may pop by the Virtual Porthole. Characters may include Peach the starfish from the Disney•Pixar film “Finding Nemo,” a haunted pirate ghost ship or even Mickey Mouse.
Living Characters
In Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab youth areas, Disney characters come to life and interact with children in one-of-a-kind experiences. On a 103-inch plasma screen, Crush, the animated sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo,” or the mischievous animated alien Stitch make scheduled appearances to chat, play and joke with kids in live, unrehearsed conversations.

Teen Club - Vibe
Teens rule in their own exclusive club aboard the Disney Dream with Vibe, an extensive indoor/outdoor space on Deck 5 forward created especially for guests ages 14 to 17. A “teen-only” swipe card provides access to the nearly 9,000-square-foot teen club.
The interior space is trendy, casual and inviting. Sleek forms, vibrant colors and avant-garde designs combine to create the ideal teen crash pad. Modular, movable furniture and cushy chairs are plentiful and invite teens to kick back in style.
A fountain bar will offer tasty refreshments such as soda, juice, smoothies and coffee drinks.
A media room serves as the central gathering space with video gaming and movie watching on a 103-inch LCD screen with digital surround sound. Around the perimeter of the room, teens can sit in built-in, oval wall “pods” designed as individual nooks for reclining and watching personal video screens or playing video games.
Teens will have at their fingertips the technology to create and edit videos using the latest computer software. They can play games and access the onboard social media application at one of several computer stations in the lounge or via their own WiFi-enabled laptop. Via the social media application, teens can post photos and videos and leave messages and comments for each other during the cruise.
In the dance club area, aspiring DJs can try their hand at spinning and mixing tracks. A lighted, multi-color dance floor and video wall set the stage for dance parties. On a separate stage, teens can take the spotlight during talent shows, karaoke contests and dance competitions.
Outside, teens have their own private deck area – a modern space that gives them an opportunity to enjoy some fun in the sun without ever leaving the teen club. There are plenty of mod chairs and chaise lounges for sunbathing, two wading pools, fountains, pop jets and misters for cooling off. For recreation, teens can play deck games such as ping-pong, foosball and other favorites.
Tween Club - Edge
Located inside the forward funnel is Edge, the lounge just for tweens (ages 11 to 13). This tween pad is a loft-style space with a multitude of hi-tech entertainment. The décor is retro with bright colors and funky finishes.
Notebook computers integrated into the design create individual computing stations for tweens to play games and access the onboard social media application exclusively for them. On this “blog spot,” tweens can communicate with each other during the cruise by leaving messages, comments and posting photos and videos.
Along one wall of the club is a massive video wall that can be used for gaming, movies or television viewing. Stretching more than 18 feet long and nearly five feet tall, the state-of-the-art video wall can be utilized as one giant screen or separated into smaller individual screens.
A lighted dance floor – and multi-colored ceiling lights above that mirror the floor – make the perfect stage for a dance party or some individual free-styling. Nearby, a nearly-10-foot cinema screen descends from the ceiling, providing videos and lighting effects.
Another hi-tech highlight that’s sure to thrill tweens is the ability to create and star in their own photo postcards and video karaoke using green-screen technology.
Being in the funnel, this tween haven offers impressive views of the pool decks below…but with a catch: tweens can see out, but guests on the decks can not see in.
As an added “wow,” the ship’s water coaster, AquaDuck, winds through the forward funnel of the ship. Three portholes in the tween club provide silhouetted views of AquaDuck riders as they zoom through the tunnel.
