November 7, 2014 - Big Hero 6

With the help of his closest companion-a robot named Baymax-Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Muppets Most Wanted - New Video!!


Disney's "Muppets Most Wanted" takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe's most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. Adam Sanderson Named Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications of The Walt Disney Company


BURBANK, Calif., January 7, 2014-Adam Sanderson has been named senior vice president, corporate communications of The Walt Disney Company, it was announced today by Zenia Mucha, executive vice president and chief communications officer of The Walt Disney Company. In his new role, Mr. Sanderson will oversee D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, Disney Corporate Creative Resources, and the Walt Disney Archives. He will report directly to Ms. Mucha.

A 17-year Disney veteran, Mr. Sanderson most recently served as senior vice president, franchise management of Disney/ABC Television Group, where he was responsible for launching, building and sustaining franchises for Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Radio Disney, ABC Family, ABC Entertainment Group, and ABC Daytime. Previously, he served as senior vice president, brand marketing of Disney Channels Worldwide, helping to build High School Musical, Hannah Montana and Disney Junior into franchise successes, and managing all synergy initiatives.

"Our fans and our history are two of the things that distinguish Disney, and Adam will have oversight of both with D23 and the Disney Archives," Ms. Mucha said. "His experience in brand marketing and franchise management, along with his knowledge of the Company, make him a great choice to lead this talented team."

In addition to Mr. Sanderson's appointment, Taye Shuayb has been named director of production, Disney Corporate Creative Resources, reporting directly to Mr. Sanderson. Mr. Shuayb joined Disney last August as manager of production for Disney Corporate Creative Resources, after managing creative services at both Time Warner and Comcast. Jeffrey Epstein will continue to oversee D23 public relations, marketing and fan relations, and Rebecca Cline remains director of The Walt Disney Archives.

Mr. Sanderson joined Disney in 1997 as vice president, marketing of Disney Channel, and went on to become senior vice president, marketing, of the then-named ABC Cable Networks Group. Prior to Disney, he had been vice president of promotion marketing at FX Networks Inc., promotion director at Condé Nast Traveler, and president and founder of Sanderson Associates, an entertainment-marketing firm.

Mr. Sanderson graduated from the University of Albany with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.

Groundbreaking for AVATAR-Inspired Land at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Festival of Fantasy Parade - Maleficent

Maleficent the Dragon!

Details are slowly emerging about the new Magic Kingdom Parade called Festival of Fantasy, which will debut this spring. The new parade celebrates Fantasyland and the floats bring to life characters that can be found in Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and Tangled.


The Maleficent float is 35 feet long and 26 feet high. Michael Curry, a Tony Award Winner, is collaborating with Walt Disney World on this parade. Previously he worked with Disney Parks on the Tapestry of Nations parade and Finding Nemo the Musical.

Happy Lunar New Year


The Year of the Horse Celebration takes place at the Disney California Adventure park from January 31-February 2nd. Between 11am and 5pm each day, the Paradise Gardens celebrate family traditions of the Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures.


In addition to Disney characters like Mulan and Mushu, Mickey and Minnie, a Chinese dragon dance group, lion dances and Korean and Vietnamese dance groups join the celebration.

Fun for guests include making paper lanterns, discovering your Zodiac animal and writing wishes of good fortune and happiness for families and friends.

Throughout 2014 the Disney Animal Program team has events planned at both Disney's Animal Kingdom and The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot.

According to Dr. Jackie Ogden, Vice President Animals, Science and Environment, Disney Parks, "The goal of each is to provide kids and families with a special opportunity to connect with nature, talk to our animal experts, and learn more about some of the fantastic creatures with whom we share our planet."

At Disney's Animal Kingdom:

March 4: Spring Forward for Amphibians Day - Just a few days before we adjust our clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time, we're "springing forward" to celebrate frogs, toads and other amphibians.

April 22: Party for the Planet in celebration of Earth Day - Every day is a Party for the Planet at Disney's Animal Kingdom, as guests and cast members join together to celebrate the wonders of nature, but, on Earth Day, there will be even more natural magic. Included is a celebration of the release of Disneynature's new True Life Adventure "Bears," in theaters April 18, which showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life's most important lessons.

May 6: International Migratory Bird Day - Time to celebrate of one the wonders of nature - bird migration - and the ways we can help protect birds on their journeys.

May 20: World Turtle Day - Turtles are fascinating creatures, and really cool dudes, too - just ask Crush! Both Disney's Animal Kingdom and The Seas with Nemo & Friends celebrate turtles with special activities.

June 10: Pollinator Day - butterflies, bees and other pollinators are the stars of this celebration.

July 29: Big Cat Day - It's all about the largest cats, like lions and tigers - cats to whom you wouldn't want to say, "here, kitty, kitty."

August 5: Primate Day - The perfect place to find out what a 400-pound gorilla and a one-pound cotton-top tamarin have in common.

BURBANK, Calif. -- January 21, 2014 -- This year, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will reach out to fans across the country with a wide array of uniquely magical Disney experiences for members.

Walt Disney once said, "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." It's in that spirit that guests this summer will have the opportunity to visit "or revisit"some of the most beloved Disney attractions of yesteryear. Destination D: Attraction Rewind, held July 26 and 27 at Walt Disney World Resort, will bring Disney archivists, Imagineers, Legends and luminaries together to celebrate fan favorites such as Adventure Thru Inner Space, If You Had Wings, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with rarely seen concept art and images; vintage video clips; and revealing stories. In addition, several presentations will be dedicated to the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, which spawned beloved attractions like it's a small world and Carousel of Progress.

MARY POPPINS 50th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING: On August 24, 2014 - nearly 50 years to the day on which this beloved classic premiered D23 will celebrate with a very special screening event.


For the third year in a row, D23 will hit the road, visiting cities across the U.S. to commemorate dozens of magical Disney milestones celebrating landmark anniversaries this year. Hosted by Disney archivists and the D23 Team, D23's Disney Fanniversary Celebration events will be held in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, Seattle, New York, and other cities in fall 2014. Fanniversary 2014 will revisit some of the most beloved theme park attractions, animated and live-action films, characters, TV series, and more than 90 years of Disney history including Donald Duck, the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, Sleeping Beauty, Haunted Mansion, Disney's Hollywood Studios, The Little Mermaid, and many more. Fanniversary events will be open to the public, with special admission prices and surprises created for D23 Members in attendance.

D23'S LUNCH WITH A LEGEND: A limited number of D23 Members will join Disney Legend Marty Sklar for a private luncheon on The Walt Disney Studios lot, where Marty will talk about his extraordinary 54-year career with Disney. Look for additional "Legendary" lunches later this year.

DISNEY STORE MEMBER MIXERS: After giving members a peek at the reimagined stores in Florida, Kansas, New Jersey, California, and Nevada in 2013, Disney Store will once again invite D23 Members for exclusive mornings of shopping, discounts, games and goodies.

The Walt Disney Imagineering employee store in Glendale, Calif., will open its doors to D23 Members on April 26, June 21, and other dates throughout the year, with special guests and surprises. Members will have an opportunity to purchase limited-edition merchandise and view the park-like grounds at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts' creative "think tank."

SCREENINGS ON THE DISNEY STUDIO LOT: Throughout the year, D23 will continue its popular movie screenings inside the historic Studio Theatre at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The 2014 roster includes Sleeping Beauty, The Jungle Book, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and The Little Mermaid.

D23 DAY AT THE WALT DISNEY STUDIOS AND ARCHIVES: D23's members-only tours of the historic Studio Lot and Walt Disney Archives in Burbank return, highlighting historic moments from Disney film, television, and theme parks as well as showcasing many of the external locations used for filming Saving Mr. Banks. Tours will take place March 22, May 31, August 2, and November 8.

SIGNATURE EVENTS: Look for the return of some favorites, including the popular holiday offering DISNEY AND DICKENS (in Burbank in December), as well as other D23 traditions.

Doc McStuffins and Sofia Now at Disney Junior Play 'n' Dine


Doc McStuffins and Sofia are now at Disney Hollywood Studios Hollywood and Vine.


They have joined Handy Mandy and Jake from the Neverland Pirates.



A new musical number is now part of the show and the characters invite all the kids to join them in the dance.

The characters appear and breakfast and lunch each day!

Maleficent Sneak Peek at New Lana Del Ray Song

Reimagining of the Classic Disney Tune "Once Upon a Dream"

Burbank, Calif. (January 26, 2014) - A never-before-heard Lana Del Rey rendition of "Once Upon a Dream" was unveiled as part of a 90-second sneak peek of Disney's "Maleficent" during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards® on Sunday, January 26. "Maleficent" releases in U.S. theaters on May 30, 2014.

Award-winning, American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has recorded a unique reimagining of the renowned fairy-tale tune from Disney's classic animated film "Sleeping Beauty," which will feature in the end credits of the upcoming Disney film.

Lana Del Rey's "Once Upon a Dream" is free for a limited time, only on Google Play, Google's online store offering digital music, movies, books, games and more. The song was made available as a free download today and will be available exclusively on Google Play through Monday, February 3rd.

"Maleficent" explores the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the classic "Sleeping Beauty" and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville.

"Maleficent" is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Palak Patel, Matt Smith and Sarah Bradshaw serving as executive producers. Linda Woolverton wrote the screenplay. "Maleficent" opens in theaters on May 30, 2014.
