Buckle up for Fun! Epcot Guests “Drive their Design” at the Re-Imagined Test Track Presented by Chevrolet

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Walt Disney World Resort guests will experience the thrill of designing their very own virtual vehicle - then putting their design through its paces - when the re-imagined, multi-sensory Test Track Presented by Chevrolet grand reopens Dec. 6, 2012.

The iconic Epcot attraction, a new collaboration between Chevrolet Design and the creative team of Walt Disney Imagineering, celebrates how meticulous design not only shapes the look of Chevrolet cars and trucks, but drives their performance on the open road.

For inspiration for the project, Walt Disney Imagineers made numerous visits to Detroit, collaborating with Chevrolet designers and touring the inner sanctums of Chevrolet's design studios.

"As storytellers, to be able tell Chevrolet's design story was fun for our Imagineers," said Eric Jacobson, senior vice president of WDI. "Chevrolet designers come from the same creative roots as Imagineers. Test Track Presented by Chevrolet will become, for Epcot guests, an exciting part of their visit to Walt Disney World Resort."

Amid upbeat music, eye-popping lighting effects and a collection of Chevrolet concept cars and model vehicles, guests themselves will become automotive designers -- and peer into the future of personal transportation in the process.

"Through an enduring partnership, Chevrolet and Disney continue to inspire generations to imagine the impossible and innovate," said Chris Perry, vice president, U.S. Marketing, General Motors. "The re-imagined Test Track reflects the personality and values of Chevrolet design and offers guests a behind-the-scenes look at a discipline that drives our business. This first-of-its-kind automotive design attraction represents the best of Chevrolet design and Disney innovation."

Test Track guests enter an all-new, interactive pre-show area -- completely retooled and re-imagined from the garage-like testing area of the former GM Test Track. The sleek new "Chevrolet Design Center" invites guests to create their own virtual custom-concept vehicle. Car design wannabes will get to shape their own virtual car, truck or crossover vehicle and learn how their design choices perform against four important attributes:

At design kiosks, rows of touch screens become canvasses for guests to try their hand at design magic. Here, they can virtual-draw -- maneuver their vehicle design by shape, length, width and engine size. Once they create the design of their dreams, guests complete their creation with even more choices. They can make a design statement with an expressive front grill, order up wheels by size and style, add paint and other graphics and trick out their vehicle -- top to sides, front to back -- with the latest accessories. Then comes the crowning touch of their design -- adding Chevrolet's world-famous bowtie logo.

Their virtual Chevrolet vehicle complete, the adventure then shifts into high gear as guests -- armed with a card encoded with their personal design that travels with them -- board their 6-person "SimCar" ride vehicle. Ahead: a thrilling journey into a dazzling multi-sensory digital experience as guests put their personal design through a series of performance tests -- the exhilarating heart of Test Track Presented by Chevrolet.

Along their route, riders experience changing terrain and extreme conditions as their designs are scored for Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power. How does their design stand up on the challenging hills, switchbacks and straight-aways of the Test Track circuit? How well does it navigate through bumpy roads, icy conditions, turn-on-a-dime curves and other surprises? Their design skills are put to the test -- at speeds of up to 65 mph.

The fun and excitement continues in the post-show area.

Scoring their design. Guests get to compare their car's results to that of a baseline SimCar -- and also see how they performed against their fellow "designers."
At a digital driving table laying out a road course, guests can race their virtual custom-concept vehicles against other guests' designs, over changing terrain and encountering extreme conditions.
Brand-new car designers can create their own commercial -- starring their virtual car.
In another experience, guests get to pose with actual Chevrolet vehicles. Through green screen technology -- with a few taps on their touch screen -- guests can suddenly find themselves posing with their Chevrolet on the lunar surface, arcing across the galaxies, navigating the bright-white of a polar landscape or other thrilling scenes. The images become easily sharable on social media, sending virtual postcard greetings to family, friends or co-workers back home.
New and concept Chevrolet vehicles are laid out showroom-style. Guests can get behind the wheel of Chevrolet's latest models. Chevrolet product specialists are on hand to answer any questions.

Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is included in Epcot admission. For more: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/test-track/

Celebrate the Holidays with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel

Visitors will enjoy tree-lighting ceremonies, dessert decorations, elves tucking kids into bed and more

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - To kick off the holiday season, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel is offering a variety of festive events and activities throughout December with two special guest hosts. Like many other holiday travelers, Santa and Mrs. Claus are jetting off to Florida to escape the cold, and once again have decided to spend their vacation at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel.

Families can enjoy a unique holiday experience away from home at the Epcot resort area hotel, mingling with a tropically clad Santa, lighting the tree with Mrs. Claus and even getting tucked in by one of Santa's elves.

This year's holiday happenings at the hotel include:

Santa and Mrs. Claus Meet 'n Greets

Select nights throughout December, Santa and Mrs. Claus, decked out in their vacation attire, will meet with guests in Santa's customized Tiki hut. The hut features reindeer, palm trees and flamingos, making it a photo opportunity like no other. Plus, with Santa in such a relaxed state of mind, he might even be willing to grant more gift requests for those brave enough to ask!

Life-Size Chocolate Santa

Constructed entirely of chocolate, this life-sized sculpture of Santa weighs in at approximately 1,200 pounds! The sculpture, created by the hotel's executive pastry chef Laurent Branlard (the only two-time world pastry champion), will be on display in the lobby of the Swan during the month of December. It will also include a chocolate fireplace, chocolate Christmas tree and chocolate toy train.

Bedtime Elf Tuck-ins

Even after Santa's elves have finished making Christmas presents, their work isn't finished! On Christmas Eve, the elves will visit children staying at the hotel and tuck them into bed before Santa arrives. For those who order this memorable experience, a full-costumed elf will deliver milk, cookies and a plush toy to the room, read a bedtime story and tuck the children into bed. Reservations are required and space is limited for this exclusive Christmas Eve service.

Holiday Entertainment

On select nights, the hotel will offer special holiday entertainment for visitors. Guests can enjoy beautiful musical performances by carolers, choirs and musicians in the hotel lobbies or on the causeway and other public areas throughout the resort.

Magic Keys for Santa

For children worried that Santa might not know where to deliver their gifts, these magic keys are the perfect solution. Children can hang a magic key outside their guest room on Christmas Eve to ensure that Santa finds his way.

Guests can enjoy a special tree-lighting ceremony in the Dolphin lobby on certain nights in December, hosted by Mrs. Claus herself! Beverages and snacks will be available next to Santa's Tiki Hut.

Dessert Decorating and Holiday Movies

Throughout December, families will be able to enjoy holiday-themed movies on their guest room televisions. Children will also have the chance to decorate delicious holiday sweets in the lobby.

Central Florida Kids Get Special Sneak Peek of New Fantasyland

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Nov. 10, 2012 - Mickey Mouse and a few of his best pals opened the gates of Magic Kingdom a little early this morning to welcome dozens of Central Florida kids to be among the first to experience New Fantasyland.

During a special sneak peek organized just for them, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida walked beyond the walls of Cinderella Castle into the Enchanted Forest and found themselves inside the pages of some of their favorite stories. They got to experience the new Enchanted Tales with Belle and Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid, as well as toast Gaston with a frozen mug of Le Fou's Brew.

"We wanted to share some of the excitement of New Fantasyland with members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida who have something in common with Belle - a love for learning," said Nancy Gidusko, director of Community Relations for Walt Disney World Resort. "As a company committed to making a difference in the lives of children in Central Florida, what better way to start than by creating new memories with local kids as they enjoy Fantasyland."

New Fantasyland represents a significant milestone for Walt Disney World Resort. The expansion doubles the size of the most popular land in the most popular theme park in the world. This latest example of Disney storytelling connects guests with beloved Disney characters and stories in new ways that are more imaginative, more interactive and more immersive than ever before.

At Enchanted Tales with Belle, guests pass through a magic mirror, interact with a talking wardrobe and join Lumiere to be part of Belle's story.
Guests enter Prince Eric's Castle to discover Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid and become part of Ariel's world through games and interactions with mischievous animated characters and adventures.
Beast's castle will feature Be Our Guest Restaurant, a lavish dining experience that includes an elegant ballroom, gallery and mysterious "West Wing" of the castle. The restaurant will seat up to 550 guests and will offer fast casual service during the day and elegant table-service dining at night.

The grand opening of New Fantasyland is scheduled for Dec. 6. Since construction began in 2010, Fantasyland has created 700 construction jobs with an additional 800 operational jobs coming online over the next two years. Jobs range from attraction hosts to management positions.

SeaWorld Debuts New Antarctica Ride Vehicle

Seaworld Orlando Debuts Ride Vehicle That Will Take Guests On First-Of-Its-Kind Adventure In 2013 New Attraction, Antarctica: Empire Of The Penguin

Orlando, FL (November 13, 2012) - At the world's largest theme park convention - the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions' Expo 2012 - SeaWorld Orlando execs revealed the vehicle that will take guests on a first-of-its-kind ride to the frozen south in the park's 2013 attraction and all-new realm, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin.

"There's nothing else like this in the world," said Brian Morrow, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment creative director. "Next year, this is the vehicle that will take families on an epic adventure and allow them to experience and interact with the thrills, wonders and dangers of Antarctica, all through the eyes of a very special penguin."

Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin combines a state-of-the-art family adventure ride and closer-than-ever encounters with hundreds of penguins - kings, gentoos, Adelies and rockhoppers - to create Orlando's must-see 2013 new attraction. Immersing guests in a colony of penguins means Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin will be the coldest theme park attraction in the world.

Designers revealed a bit more about the vehicles' unique role in the attraction.

The cars themselves are technological marvels. Each car is a mobile simulator, with movements that allow the riders to become one with the storyline as they follow and mimic a young penguin's adventures. The combination of experiences - mobile, moving simulators and a completely trackless ride - are theme park firsts. Guests will choose one of two levels of adventure. Designers say each level has multiple variations for a feeling of unpredictability, just like the continent of Antarctica.

"When our little hero penguin learns to waddle and slide, we'll feel what it's like as the car moves and reacts to the storyline. When he takes his first swim or barely escapes danger, our guests will feel as if they're right there with him," Morrow said.

Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is the biggest expansion in company history. Park execs consider the attraction an all-new "realm," rather than a single attraction. Antarctica's scope includes the ride, penguin colony, gift shop and restaurant.

It's an all-family experience that could only come from SeaWorld and can only be found at SeaWorld Orlando. "We've taken our guests and fans on astounding journeys," said Terry Prather, SeaWorld Orlando's president. "But no one has ever experienced what we're bringing to Orlando in 2013. The first-of-its-kind ride, the cold, the wind, the thrills and danger of Antarctica and walking among penguins in a massive habitat is something only SeaWorld could do."

OZ the Great and Powerful

Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

New Interactive Entertainment Debuts in Fantasyland Expansion

"With the opening of New Fantasyland, we're excited to introduce several new atmosphere groups that will become part of the storytelling experience you'll find there," said Creative Director Reed Jones. "They're going to bring the neighborhoods of the land to life in really fun ways."

The Royal Majesty Makers engage boys and girls in random acts of "royaldom," endowing them with the skills to become princes and princesses. These royal consultants, official ambassadors of Cinderella's court, inspire and delight visiting villagers with magical moments throughout the land.

Led by retired knight Sir Sterling and royal etiquette expert Lady Llewellyn, the Royal Majesty Makers also include squire extraordinaire Tobias and flirtatious lady-in-waiting Bridget. They may be found in the Castle Courtyard, conducting Knight School, delivering invitations to a royal ball, leading royal dances or even playing a game of "Sir Sterling Says."

Senses Spa - Grand Floridian Opens December 17th

The fully remodeled spa, now owned and operated by Disney, is set to open December 17. Imagineers blended Grand Floridian turn-of-the-century elegance with modern touches - plus a dash of Disney whimsy.

Spa-goers first walk through the new Victorian style entryway and indulge in a relax, renew, or imagine journey that's determined by your treatment choice.

The centerpiece of the spa's lobby is an original mural reflecting old Florida landscape and nature. Glass mosaic tiles in the Jacuzzi rooms further enhance the elegance and sophistication of the spa. All the senses are engaged in an ultimate relaxation experience - flavorful and soothing elixirs, color variations in lighting and orchestral music harmonize with the treatment selected.

15 treatment rooms offer full-service pampering services such as watertherapy, sugar exfoliation body treatment, rejuvenating citrus facial, a restorative hand and foot ritual with Chinese Jasmine oils, plus a Magical Manicure or Princess Pedicure for youngsters. Lounges, whirlpools, and treatment rooms all provide rejuvenation through the healing nature of Florida citrus and botanicals.

The new menu of services also includes a signature 80-minute Grand Floridian treatment featuring a special aromatherapy massage.

Guests can book spa appointments at the new Senses - A Disney Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort beginning November 15, by calling 407-WDW-SPAS (407-939-7727) or learn more by visiting www.disneyworld.com/spas.

IFAW Receives $250,000 Grant from Disney to Help Rescue Animals from Natural Disasters and Emergencies

YARMOUTH PORT, Mass.,/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Fund for Animal Welfare (www.ifaw.org) announced today a $250,000 grant from the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to support IFAW's efforts to rescue animals from disasters, and to assist IFAW and its partners to prepare their rescue personnel for emergencies.

"Disney has been a committed supporter in IFAW's mission to make the world better for animals," said Ian Robinson, IFAW Animal Rescue Director. "We look forward to continuing to work together and going wherever we are needed to help suffering animals."

For well over a decade, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) has provided grants to help IFAW rescue and care for the animal victims of disasters, including after Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina, the Asian tsunami and Haiti earthquake. Disney's support has helped the nonprofit protect animals big and small -- from elephants and tigers to household pets.

"After a devastating storm like Hurricane Sandy, communities are faced with a shortage of resources," said Kim Sams, director of the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. "We are proud to support IFAW, and know that animals affected by such disasters are receiving care from the compassionate staff while impacted neighborhoods can focus on rebuilding."

IFAW is a first responder for animals in distress in times of disasters. Its animal rescue team is currently deployed in New Jersey, helping to reunite families with the pets they were forced to leave behind because of Hurricane Sandy.

Agent P Expands in Epcot's World Showcase

Agent P World Showcase Adventure

New elements are coming soon to the interactive game, Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure. The new features will be added to the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan pavilions.

Agent P World Showcase Adventure

The game is based on the wily secret-agent alter-ego of Perry the Platypus, a faithful pet to the title characters from Disney's animated series "Phineas & Ferb." Although just a simple pet to Phineas and Ferb, Perry turns into Agent P in each episode to help stop the misguided plans of his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

Here at Epcot, guests transform into secret agents to help Agent P thwart some of Dr. Doofenshmirtz's most daring plots. Agents use a high tech detection device called a "F.O.N.E." (Field Operative Notification Equipment) to receive clues for each case.

Disney is just giving clues right now, but here are two areas that will see enhancements:
