Anaheim, CA – January 12, 2011 – The Disneyland Resort and its cast members, including Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs and Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis, today recognized U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta at a special flag retreat ceremony. Giunta was recently presented the Medal of Honor – the nation’s highest military honor – by President Obama for his heroic actions in Afghanistan. He is the first living service member to receive the medal for action in any war since Vietnam. Also honored was U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Erick Gallardo, Silver Star recipient and Southern California native from Chula Vista. Giunta and Gallardo served together in Afghanistan and were decorated for their heroism during the same battle. Both honorees enjoyed the day at Disneyland Resort with their families.
