Habit Heroes opens in Epcot’s Innoventions

The latest exhibit to debut in Innoventions is called Habit Heroes – created to teach families how to live a healthy and active lifestyle. It is presented by Florida Blue and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I experienced the new exhibit on February 3rd, the first day of soft openings.

Situated across from the Sum of All Thrills, the exhibit walls are filled with very colorful Marvel comics that help set the tone!

This interactive multi-media exhibit will keep you entertained as you learn to fight bad habits and become a Habit Hero.

As the story begins, we are at the entrance of a 100 year old gym, apartments above and periodically spot lights shine down below. ( I kinda felt like I was in a gangster sequence in the Great Movie Ride.)

Enter Will Power’s gym, an abandoned fitness facility where there are photographs and trophies from 100 years ago.

A black and white movie sets the stage for how a band of dedicated heroes once fought to keep folks healthy. Unfortunately, those days are long gone; and the narrator pleadingly asks “Oh Habit Heroes where are you when we need you most?”

Suddenly we flash forward in time and meet our hosts Will Power and Callie Stenics. They want us to become the new Habit Heroes.

Our goal is to save a teenage boy who spends too much time behind the computer and on the couch and eats poorly and is out of shape.

A Cast Member gives everyone a colored wristband which signifies what team you are on in the next room – called “Control Freak“.

Time to battle the “control freek” who controls the TV.

This was the one room that was very confusing. We had just been led to believe we were on a special colored team and yet inside the room, we all just stood trying to determine where to go/what to do. Each station had all the colored lights on. Suddenly, the TVs start falling from above via a huge screen. It was hard to see the TVs as you had to really look up and strain your neck. Not sure how little ones would do. Thinking I was on the “yellow team”, I only used the yellow button. Soon a Cast Member came over to tell me I could use all the buttons. Someone else said we were to run to the station closest to where our TV color was falling. By the time I figured it out, it was time to move on to the next challenge. Either way, it it is soft opening and this part needs more explanation. We also felt as though in this room and the next, we should have gotten a score of how well (or not) we did.

Sweet Tooth and the Snacker! With Toy Story Mania Spring-Action shooters, it is our turn to blast away and destroy all the calories we can! My shooter had broccoli and carrot bulls eyes to use! This was fun, but again, we were almost too close to the screen and no score.

Our last challenge was entitled Lead Bottom. Our job was to exercise and get Lead Bottom to, well, shake his booty. This was a really fun segment and as I looked around, many people were moving and following the exercises! I could see some might not like this part, but on this day, it was fun to shake it up.

At the conclusion we see we have saved the couch potato teenager and all is well!

Habit Heroes is still in soft opening mode and there is some tweaking that does need to be done. I think once everything is ironed out, it will be a fun exhibit to experience. I plan to go back in a couple weeks and see if things have been “fine tuned”.

Other observations and notes:

The areas are all very dark with low lighting.

Some cast members had their “roles” down pat, others need more training.

I liked how subtitles were part of every video.

Just let loose when you get to Lead Bottom – it’s a lot of fun!

Back to the Callie Sentence. There were two front and back card slips. The cool front view is called Mood. The warm back view is called Safety. Mood produced by David Arkenstone. Safety produced by Daine Arkenstone, David’s wife. Those slips were coming from these machines. At Video playground set, HH bonus sets. Miles away from East Innovations.

    POWER SOURCE: DON’T REMEMBER ANYTHING.

Take a picture with your cell phone. Send to the HH social. Print them. Post it. Attach it to the back side. For the front side got printed. Whose it was a stranger, or not? Who knows. The Habit Heroes Time Set view got dated. For 6th millennium bc, meet the first earliest strangers. Don’t even know when you’re a family. Just send them to the link. See the timeline of Age of Heroes. Into the dropbox. But Nusto and Green I’s aren’t agender. Think that the Year Born Zero doesn’t have many bad habits. More strangers than it is now. Causes more trouble. Pick them if it’s don’t know them. Gets the life junk. This is in Habit Hero #3. Parts of the real-life history. Another step after Habit Heroes, “The Warrior of Addictions” will be futuristic online war.

Will be reach of 6th millennium . Just like the real-life war. Got different when players invented the assuming bar chart. Middle screen time zone between cartoons and live act. There will be in the ISS Military Service. But the millions of stars will be unconnected. Nothing connects each other. Those will called WarBlock. WarBlock will addictive Earth watchings. Nothing but protect the hard worker.

Parts of fighting in the middle slot. Imaginary versus fake people on this view. Except dreams and nightmares. Gotten invisibly colors to see. Maybe, close your eyes and don’t look for an unknown person and screen time. But the Drama King was an obses man with the dog-suit on his head. He the Social Director. Let’s even find them out! Starting next side. With East Innovation of bad habit was gotten labeled. The Control Freak Eagleworksaw, Sweet Tooth Gooey Girl, Snacker Flashes Fats, and Leadbottom Big Bubble were first. And then, Blocker Bots, Snappers, and Scorchers were the second.

There was a HH online on real-life mission for the rest of the bad habits EXCEPT the two bosslines. Well, Achilles was Clouded stretch. Isonima was a dangerous vampire. Ice Cappuccino was huge fast talker. Fungus was incredible gross sucking. Glutton was full of jumping tosses of food. Cereal Killer was Knight-armor mascot. Sunblazer was laughed a bit. Stink Bomb was a dirty Mike. Prescription was the night-sick. And, of course Nicontia was an Odor anti-drugs.

How I power up: I just want to get a good night’s sleep, but nightmares makes me inactivity, dehydration, bad nutrition, and pranking. Try to sleep well, and don’t even know when it was a dream or not.

  2. I think it is a shame that Disney is under so much criticism for this exhibit. Schools across the United States are implementing healthier lunch items. I have never in my life been underweight and my family struggles with weight problems throughout. I would have enjoyed this exhibit in 1994 when my family went to Disney World and ate too much food and got no more exercise than walking from restaurant to rides.

  3. It seems to me that it’s a fat shaming tool for children and adults alike, which is the LAST thing society needs right now. Fat people already feel bad and are constantly put down, even if they are not out of shape or unhealthy. News flash Disney, being fat does not mean you are unhealthy. And being fat does not mean that you don’t exercise and that you eat poorly. And this exhibit will just train children to ostracize fat children and adults and treat them like they are a villain, just like the game does. I think it’s a terrible idea.

  4. This looks surprisingly preachy for a Disney attraction. The kid on the couch being declared “out of shape” when he looks like a typical kid concerns me. It seems like this could cause some image issues, especially with Callie being rail thin and two of the “bad guys” being clearly really overweight. It doesn’t seem like there’s much of a median.. or the single median there is (the kid on the couch, who like I said, doesn’t look out of shape to me at all) is being called out of shape and lazy.

This doesn’t seem like a well thought out or a healthy attraction, despite it’s encouragement clearly on being healthy.

Maybe I’m simply reading too much into this, but isn’t that what Disney management is supposed to do? A lot of this seems like an oversight. I’m a bit concerned. I love the idea of encouraging kids to eat right and exercise, but this looks.. off. Maybe it’s one of those things you have to see and do?

  5. We were just at EPCOT this weekend and we were able to do this. I had a great time with my 5 year old. They explained the first room much better, although it was still a little confusing at first. The last room was great, my son was so into doing all the excercises it was so fun to watch! He was ready to go back through it again. I agree scores for the first two rooms would be a nice addition.

  6. This looks like a lot of fun! We actually did the Firehouse one last year on a whim and had a blast! One of those little hidden magical jewels of Disney!

  7. Wow, this looks like it would be alot of fun and a great way to get the message across to not only kids but adults as well! It sounds a bit like the fire hazard house. Which I still think is fun to play lol : ). Is this new exhibit near that house?

ALLEARS: Where’s the Fire is in Innoventions West (side of Land and Seas). Habit Hero is Innoventions East (side of Test Track and Mission Space).
