Beach Club and Yacht Club Holiday Decorations at Walt Disney World

Deb_banner.jpg

On our way to the RADP 16th annual meet and greet (more on RADP at the end) we stopped by the Yacht and Beach Club to see the holiday displays.

The lamposts were wound with garland, balls and lights - I'll have to swing by one evening to see how pretty the entrance way looks.

In the lobby there is garland all around and the centerpieces are the holiday tree and gingerbread display.

I love looking closely at the various tree ornaments. See how many you can find like the Seahorse, and starfish.....

The Gingerbread Carousel has returned.

And if you look closely you'll see the QR codes around to learn more about the display. The QR codes require a reader app that you can get for your cell phone. (Make a note to get one of those :)

Ariel has a special horse too!

Snow White has a revolving castle

And the Gingerbread Shop is open evenings, Monday-Thursday 6-8pm and Friday and Saturday 4-8pm. The shop didn't need to be open to enjoy the smell of gingerbread. If you want a Gingerbread House to purchase, head over to the Beach Club Marketplace.

Next stop, Disney's Yacht Club. The lampposts here have the same garland and lights adornments.

And as you walk closer there is a beautiful floral display of red and white poinsettias and impatience.

The holiday tree has a nautical theme with boats and lighthouses.

A wonderful Dickens aka Dept 56 display complete with a train, highlight the shops and restaurants of the Yacht and Beach club resorts.

Soon it was time for the RADP meet at the International Gateway. RADP (rec.arts.disney.parks) is where I got my start online and was the only type of message board that existed back in the early days.

The strangers who met those first few years in December have become dear friends and family. Each year they continue to gather at WDW to celebrate the holidays and their friendships.

Deb,
Is the gentleman in the left of the photo (in the wheelchair) an avid pin-trader, and do you happen to know him?

He looks a lot like the man that completely made our day at Epcot during Food & Wine this year. We only trade with CM's usually, but he and my friend both approached a cm at the same time (near the American pavilion, I think), and we struck up a conversation. He was looking for a particular t-shirt pin (that we didn't have) and he was willing to trade a really neat Mickey on Space Mtn pin that we had never seen. We found something and ran into him a little later. Well, the pin wasn't what he was looking for, but he traded with us anyway.

I don't remember his name or even what is the right type of pin, but we completely remember his kindness and have started collecting the t-shirt pins on the off chance that we get the right one and run into him again. I'm under the impression that he lives & works in Orlando, because he said something about having to go to work the next day.

If you know him and think that he might be the person we ran into, please let him know that his kindness made our day and is still remembered.

DEB: Suzanna - the gentleman in the ECV is Ray. He's a great Disney fan and great friend of AllEars! To my knowledge he does not work or live in Orlando. I'll make sure to let him know about your comment here. Thank you!

That's for the pictures. Dave and I are going to take some time when we are there for A December to Remember to check out the resorts. These two are on our list.

Regina Seaner:

Wow, Deb, I had no idea RADP still had meets! My husband and I attended the 2nd annual one. I'll be back in the World this Wednesday and hope to see you at December to Remember events. Congratulations on your move to FL.

DEB: Hi Regina! I certainly remember you! Hope to see you as well.
