Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps – Epcot

Each country in World Showcase has its own themed entertainment and the American Adventure is one of my favorites.

The Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps usually plays outside the American Adventure pavillion Tuesdays – Saturdays. Be sure to check the Epcot times guide for exact days and times.

The show is about 15 minutes and features the colonial sounds of flutes and drums. Two of the songs you may hear them play are “God Bless America” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy”.

The Fife and Drum Corps marches in from the left of the American Adventure pavilion (Liberty Inn side).

They position themselves between the American Gardens Theatre and the American Pavillion for the show.

There are 2 drummers, 2 flutists and the 5th member of the unit is the flag bearer.

Based on the information I found, the Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corp opened with Epcot Center and the American Adventure.

Video is taken with Flip Mino HD Camcorder! It is small, lightweight and easy to use.

  1. Hey Deb, I’m impressed by the quality of the video, considering how affordable and small those minicorders look! I’ve gotta assume you used a tripod or monopod or improvised something for steadiness, but was that just the built in microphone? I’m getting intrigued, I might just have to get one! Thanks so much for the great post!

Mia – it really is amazing what the FLIP can do. It was the built in microphone, you can not use an external one. I had the camera sitting on a pillar so I was not touching it. I plan to take a monopod sometimes to help keep it steady. I have the FLIP videos in the AllEars Amazon store, just click on the bottom of our home page and look under photography! Glad you liked the video.

  2. I’m using the All Ears Fife and Drum Corps wallpaper this week on my desktop. I figure their Colonial look plus their pose of Iwo Jima makes it perfect for 4th of July week. 🙂

  3. We really enjoyed seeing the Fife and Drum Corps when we were there for the first time in 12/08. They inspire that patriotic emotion that you feel when experiencing a well done American witness. The youtube video was well done, but it is really something to behold in person! Our 6 kids were rooted to the spot while they were playing and doing their small marching drill. Disney has done such a great job making history and education fun and interesting!

  4. We were sitting in Liberty Inn eating when we heard them….we saw them heading our way and then were surprised, they walked right in to the restaurant still playing…IT SOUNDED AMAZING……I for sure will make plans to watch for the performance times on our next trip in April 2010. It was the most beautiful sound & sight of Patriotism! Makes me PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

  5. Hi Deb,

Great pictures. Every time I see the Fife and Drum Corps at the American Adventure it reminds me of when I was little and my parents took me to Williamsburg, Virginia.

It is always an inspiration to me and I hope all parents make plans when they go to Epcot to have their children witness this awesome display for patriotism.

I will add, when they are marching, don’t get in their way. I have seen some pretty close calls when people get in front of them to take pictures while they are coming at you.

  6. Deb,
We saw the Fife and Drum Corp two weeks ago at Epcot – they also invited the kids in the audience to join them in singing some patriotic songs. My 7 and 8 year old loved it!
